Dep. Steven Arens of the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station displayed what authorities say is the murder weapon, a carbine rifle they said Rauda was carrying in a backpack when he was apprehended while roaming the hills of Malibu Canyon.
Holding up the gun for the jury to see, Arens explained that the stock had been removed. He started to give his opinion as to why but was interrupted by an objection from Rauda’s lawyer...which was sustained by Judge...
The trail of boot prints and digital images that led police to Rauda had been reconstructed in testimony the day before.

Plead not guilty. $11M Bond.
*Charged (3/24/22) & arraigned (4/7/22) with 2 felony counts of battery on a peace officer on 3/30/20 & 3/16/22. Plead not guilty.
Battery Trial from 6/7/22 to 6/9/22: Found guilty by jury of 2 felony counts of battery. Sentenced to 3 years & 8 months.
Trial was set to begin on 7/22/21 cancelled due to competency hearings. Found competent 11/29/21.
