oh man that is all they need for a wall to cave in on top of the mess

Apparently, a wall in the interior of the fire trap has been deemed a danger. And if we think about it - it makes sense - the place was ready to fall apart before an inferno and tons of water being slammed into it for hours.

Not really sure how someone who lived on the second floor could really beleive after seeing aglow two hours later - that death had not occurred to him

I caught a few seconds of a current interview with him (looked like it was in the hall of the hotel). It was recorded but shown during a live broadcast this morning. I'm interested in what he had to say--if anyone can find it.

I was looking at the photos of the pallet stairway. IMO that was a big factor in the high death count. Survivors described the stairway as a ramp and then just pallets stacked up willy nilly, not like real steps. If you go to this link:

and count down to the 17th photo, you can see the pallets. In the very next photo you can see the ramp part of the stairway, which I guess it the part where there were only pegs for footholds. You can see the handrail behind the blue bike. See how steep it is? Between the two parts was a 90 degree turn. The stairway was wide enough for one person.

Imagine trying to get down that stairway in pitch darkness through billowing smoke and flames. And those pallets probably caught fire within minutes. For that stairway alone Derick Ion should be charged with 33 counts of manslaughter.

Saw a clip last night of a concert there a few months ago AND there were fire jugglers!

Also noticed, there was a tattoo shop inside the Ghost Ship.

My heart breaks for you, Gitana and all of those affected. Sending hugs.

I keep remembering the comment made by an expert earlier today regarding pallets, "They are fuel and air".

I kind of think that the environment was so hostile that there were not really people trying to get down the steps.

From plane crash , stuff, we know this started on ground one. Heat rises and the toxins in the smoke , thankfully, knocks you out in a stunningly instant manner. Mercifully.

There also was probably a flashover backdraft explaining the instant conflagration.

The fire lady said they believe a lot of folks were still on the second floor when it was impacted by the ceiling and fell, which kinda supports an enormous flashover.

One guy said his bedroom window was pushed open from the hot gas expanding - that too, sounds like an incredible flashover. the only positive thing about this is hopefully death was instant

From known info, due to the super heated smoke and gases rising up the makeshift stairwell, combined with the likely occurrence of a flash over caused due to the contained area of the fires origin. Imo, by the time they realized the ensuing catastrophe, it would have been too late.. Disorientation would occur rapidly due to breathing the toxic gases and smoke, and extreme darkness would set in where all senses would be lost except touch and hearing. Panic would have set in and the ability to think logically is severely hampered...
The total victim loss, now at 36, will be much higher, imo..

It remains both confusing and frustrating that we have not heard from people who got out some rough estimate of how many people were inside when it started.

It just seems IMO a question that would be asked (and has never been as far as I know) of anyone who was inside and got out.

In that type of setting it would be something "absorbed" by folks inside wow its busy, or surprised how slow it is etc.

Those estimates would be helpful, IMO to loved ones. A performer would "know" how the house was

It is peculiar and quite an important notion as this languishes
IMO it takes on more importance now that there is a stop in place

It is like torture for these folks. I know they are doing the best they can, but as far as media goes I cannot fathom why the question has not been asked..
