CA CA - Matthew Greene, 39, Mammoth Lakes, 16 July 2013

So far this has been a very poor snow year for the Sierra. Hopefully it will mean his remains, and the remains of the missing serviceman Lt Matthew Kraft, lost in 2019 farther south near Kearsarge Pass will be found and the relatives will have closure.

I keep these two on my Watched Threads and it's been a while since I've seen any news about either. Thank you for your story.

Yeah, I was wondering that. A big snow melt might help.
A big snow only means the remains will be covered by snow for many more months. That was one of the problems with last years' and the 2017 winters' huge amounts of snow. Areas in the regions both Matthew Greene and Matthew Kraft were last seen in were covered with snow throughout the summer, precluding any search or hiker from finding them.

Low snow will assure more areas that haven't been searched will be accessible for a foot search, and more people will be in those areas in the summer so more chance for discovery.

Thank you for sharing this. I found it very moving & can relate to your experience of grief.

I think my own journey with grief is what brought me to Websleuths & keeps me here.

Somehow it helps.

Other people suffer devastating loss too, and they don’t die from their grief…they have to carry on…changed people…still living, not the life they expected but hopefully the best life they can in the circumstances.

Saying the name of a lost one is a way of making them immortal.

The ancient Egyptians knew that, as did numerous other cultures since humans could speak.

Thanks again, Narkj for mentioning Matthew Greene, and Anthony. Your words have power.

I truly felt that, still feel it. You are an exceptional human.
Thank you for sharing... & please never stop writing.
Amazing. Heartfelt. Real.

ETA: still reeling, my thoughts are deeply provoked...what we search for...heavy. THANK YOU again.

Thanks, everybody. It can't begin to describe how hard it was to write, not just emotionally. I just couldn't put it together and what I realized was that I needed to get very real and honest, what my intentions were, etc. I took a break from this story to focus on the missing hiker known as Mostly Harmless and that too was difficult.
