It seems the family of ML have come to terms with the strong likelihood that ML is no longer alive:

From the link--
"On Friday, as about 50 volunteers scoured the area around Lake Chabot in Castro Valley, family spokeswoman Krystine Dinh said things have changed since Le's former friend Giselle Esteban was arrested last week.

"The focus is still on bringing her home for a proper memorial, and a proper goodbye," she said."

I can't help but feel such strong feelings of sympathy for this family. Krystine Dinh is also quoted in the article as saying,

""There are three stages," she said. "There's fighting for Michelle, there's closure, and there's justice. We won't have closure until we find her -- right now we're still fighting for her.""

We should all be so fortunate to have someone like Krystine on our side.

That's so very sad. This is the first time I have heard them say that they thought Michelle was dead.
I was looking at maps of Lake Chabot and did not realize that Lake Chabot extends as far as Oakland. Perhaps they will find her now. I know her phone and Giselle's phone pinged in Oakland so they must feel Michelle may have been left there.
I pray that they find her but also pray for the whole group of searchers. Lake Chabot is huge but I don't think GE would have been able to leave her anywhere too far off the road.
I feel somehow they may find her. I don't know...just something in my gut. Perhaps that is another reason I don't want to go this weekend.

They are searching the area around Lake Chabot today. I had not even thought of that area but GE could have gone that way via Oakland/Hayward. There is a road that goes up around Lake Chabot that I believe is pretty desolate.
I have decided not to go on the search tomorrow.I don't think this is for me. I am going to continue what I do best by getting the word out.

I admire your honesty and ability to decide what is best for you in the efforts. Everybody can contribute in their owns ways. Unifying individuals' strengths will bring Michelle home. I know it. If there is a God and he is good, he will see all this love, prayer, sweat, courage, and patience that family and strangers have put into finding Michelle and he will guide us to her. I can only hope this comes true.

Every time I hear of a search I am excited and hopeful yet saddened and afraid.
Afraid they won't find the victim and afraid they will.
Saddened that a search usually means the victim is deceased.
Hopeful that the family will finally get peace and the comfort knowing people really care.
Excited because people haven't given up.

Very mixed emotions.

My prayers are with the searches and everyone involved and especially with Michelle's family and friends.

Body found while searching for Michelle Le in Alameda County

SUNOL, Calif. -- A body has been discovered in a remote portion of Alameda County that may be connected to the disappearance of Michelle Le.

The body was discovered in a brushy, remote area near Sunol Saturday afternoon by a volunteer working with a search team organized by Le's family.

Alameda County investigators sealed off access to the crime scene. The area has been previously searched by Hayward police.

Oh please let this be Michelle. I think we all know she is dead, and has been since the day she was abducted. I am so hoping she has been found, for her family. They have shown such grace.

This is sad. It probably is Michelle. I hope there is evidence with the body that will help convict the quilty party or parties. moo

Strange that the body was found in an area that LE had previously searched. Looks like they were close to finding her on a previous search. So glad they didn't give up on the area.

I am also praying it is Michelle. Her family needs her to be brought home.

:praying:

If this is Michelle, it will make the prosecution and conviction much more likely as well. Maybe even a confession...

Assuming they found her via pings (if this is Michelle), just imagine if they did not have pings...

I didn't know the pings went out in that direction, but looking at a map, it seems quite likely that GE could have driven that way; it's close enough to Hayward--and yet remote--so that it kind of makes sense.

I'm kind of stunned thinking it could be Michelle. I'm glad they had the number of searchers they did, or they would have been limited in area.

Niles Canyon (Highway 84) runs from Fremont to Sunol and vice-versa depending on the direction you are traveling. If she drove from Hayward down to Fremont and got onto Niles Canyon (where they tracked cell pings), it doesn't surprise me in the least that she ended up in Sunol. Sunol is very rural, they considered it for a site for the Renaissance Faire.

I am praying that it is her. If it is however, I am really starting to lose faith in PD who claim to have "cleared" an area. This is happening way too often. I feel just terrible that it was family who may have found her. Yes, it brings closure, but that is never how you want to remember seeing a loved one.

SUNOL, Calif. -- A volunteer searching for missing nursing student Michelle Le found a body in the Niles Canyon/Sunol Canyon area late Saturday morning, Hayward police said Saturday. The body was found near Pleasanton Sunol Road at Verona Road around 10:30 a.m. by a member of a search team, police Lt. Roger Keener said. It was located in a brushy area near a dirt road, in an unincorporated area between Pleasanton and Sunol. more at link: http://www.ktvu.com/news/29218431/detail.html

I am hoping that with the turnout they had today, the actual family members did not do the physical search and certainly hope they did not find her. But I do hope she was found...what a relief it will be to have her back to be able to bury her with respect.

SUNOL -- A search party looking for missing San Mateo resident Michelle Le found decomposed remains near the Sunol-Pleasanton border Saturday morning, police said, but investigators cannot say whether it is the nursing student who vanished in May.
The remains were found near Pleasanton Sunol and Verona roads and in the general area that Hayward police said the 26-year-old's cell phone pinged shortly after her disappearance. The Le family, along with community volunteers, found the remains around 10:30 a.m. off a seldomly used path in some brush and near railroad tracks, Alameda County Sheriff's spokesman J.D. Nelson said. more at link: http://www.contracostatimes.com/news/ci_18919575?nclick_check=1

(09-17) 18:25 PDT Sunol -- Ten days after Hayward police arrested a woman on suspicion of murdering a nursing student whose body has not been found, a volunteer searcher found human remains today in rural Alameda County.
The decomposed remains were found at about 10:30 a.m. in Sunol Canyon, a remote, rugged area off Interstate 680 between Pleasanton and Sunol. The remains haven't been identified, and because investigators were unable to determine the gender, they can't say whether they believe the body is that of Michelle Le, who disappeared in May, said Hayward police Lt. Roger Keener.
But the remains were found in the same area where police believe Le's body had been dumped by the suspect, her former high school friend Giselle Esteban, who was arrested Sept. 7.
Cell phone records show that after Le disappeared from the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center's parking garage, both women's phones "traveled on a similar path" from the hospital to the Niles and Sunol Canyon areas in Alameda County, Keener said.
Hayward police and members of the Alameda County sheriff's crime lab and coroner's officer were on the scene for most of the day Saturday.

Sheriff's investigators and Hayward police officers are investigating whether a body found in a wooded area near Pleasanton Sunol Road south of Pleasanton could be that of slain nursing student Michelle Le.
As a crime lab vans and a coroner's vehicle pulled onto the scene, Alameda County Sheriff's spokesman J.D. Lee described the area where the body was found as being just 15 feet from the road where he was standing.
The area, easily reached by car, is north of where Highway 84 meets Interstate 680 and south of Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton, near the Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park. more at link: http://dublin.patch.com/articles/body-found-during-search-for-slain-nursing-student-michelle-le

BBM: this makes sense as GE is petite and pregnant - as some have said, she wouldn't be able to move Michelle very far on her own.

Though they can't yet determine the gender of the body, Michele was wearing white scrubs (?) when she disappeared so I would think they would have a good idea if it is her or not.

Really surprising that this was missed during previous searches IMO.
