Rangers are actively searching for two people after they went out for a hike Saturday morning but did not return as planned, the Yosemite National Park announced.

Park officials say 63-year-old Miguel Delgado and 40-year-old Ana Rodarte left Bridalveil Creek Campground at around 10 a.m. on Saturday. They were believed to have gone on a day hike possibly toward Ostrander Lake.

Investigators say they planned to return within a couple of hours that day but are overdue.

Delgado is said to be 6-foot-1 and 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a brown jacket with blue accents, an orange T-shirt, tan pants, and a backpack, park officials said.

The hike itself does not seem especially strenuous. Perhaps one/both fell??

A description of the trial they took, labeled "moderate", and duration of just under 6 hours. The "open only in winter" appears to refer to the hut on the trail, not the trail itself.

In my experience, "moderate" means it involves at least one "scramble" - where hands are needed to climb.
