According to A News Cafe, two fires have been reported at or near the McCain residence after Cheng-McCain went missing. The fires, named by Cal Fire as Olinda Fire and Yolla Fire, happened in July and allegedly destroyed vehicles that belonged to the McCains. A News Cafe reported that Tyler McCain was cited for starting the Olinda Fire, and the Yolla Fire is still under investigation.

Anyone with information on Cheng-McCain’s whereabouts is advised by law enforcement to contact Shasta County Sheriff’s Office at 530-245-6540. Tips that lead to her could be eligible for an award of up to $30,000.
As a NorCal resident, IMO feds should have been involved on Nikki's case & many others! Way too many women have went missing under suspicious circumstances in Southern Oregon & Northern California! We need help!!! Its so upsetting! If you go missing here there are slim to zero resources

Just 10 days before she vanished, Saelee-McCain texted her family to say she was leaving her husband of 15 years, Tyler McCain, accusing him of ongoing horrific abuse, her sister, Chloe Saelee, told the US Sun.

“She was really excited. She was looking at furniture for a new place and she was ready to leave Tyler and divorce him for good,” Chloe said.

“She had plans to start over, to get her kids back, and she was ready and looking forward to it,” she said of the children removed from their care in 2022 because of the troubled home.

Very troubling details re the domestic violence

Chloe and another of Nikki's sisters, Kaye Ford, told The U.S. Sun that Nikki's husband and his mom provided a series of conflicting versions of events in the wake of her disappearance.

Three months on, they say they're still in the dark about who she was with and whether or not she ever returned home.

"After she got back to the house [...] we really don't know what happened there, that's where the story changes a little bit.

"At one time we've been told one of the roommates that lived at their house took her back home.

"Another one was that she had taken an Uber from her mother-in-law's house, but we have no proof that an Uber was even called."

After reading that article, I’m heartbroken for Nikki’s kids. It sounds like they have witnessed a lot of DV in their home. That traumatizing enough, then they were removed from Nikki’s care and now she’s gone from their lives entirely. I hope the family is getting help for them to deal with all this.

Husband of missing Redding woman back in court, no show at hearing

REDDING, Calif. — The husband of missing woman Nikki Saelee-McCain,whose disappearance sparked a groundswell of concern within the community, was scheduled to appear in court this week following his arrest on July 31 for traffic and court order violations.

Tyler McCain was not present for his hearing on Monday, Aug. 19, when his attorney, Michael Borges, instead asked for an additional settlement conference to resolve or prepare for trial. Tyler is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 7, 2024.

According to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office (SCSO), Tyler was arrested on Wednesday night, July 31, for driving on a suspended license in a vehicle without a license plate. During the traffic stop, deputies said Tyler was found in violation of a court order that stated he could not possess firearms or live ammunition. After searching Tyler's vehicle, deputies reportedly found live ammunition inside.

MSM attention has fallen off lately, but Nikki's sisters are working hard to keep her disappearance in front of the public.
I hope they receive answers soon, we're approaching five months since she was last seen.

Bbm.
Just reading about this case now.
Those stories are indeed quite different from each other.
No wonder Nikki's family is distraught.
Smh.
Leaving someone for good is a dangerous time !
Omo.

this lists three exceptions when the confrontation clause does not apply. Number one is the witness is not available. Since they haven't asserted (or have evidence) that Nikki is deceased, I guess they can't go forward right now. It's a common myth that "no body = no conviction" but it's still a pretty high bar.

I do hope that they can get some more info, like being able to monitor TM's movements or communications, similar to how LE cracked the case on finding Alexis Gabe.
Agreed.
Cell phone, gps on his and also Nikki's vehicles....

He was due to appear in court to face those charges two weeks after Nikki disappeared but the case has now been dropped in light of her absence.

Although we don't know for certain what happened , I feel like this is a story we've heard before ... many times !
I think Tyler's stories about her "...running off with someone..."; are ridiculous.
It appeared that Nikki was looking for a clean break.
I wish she'd been able to escape.

The husband of missing Shasta County woman Nikki McCain, Tyler McCain, was in court on Monday morning answering to criminal traffic violations... He was sentenced to 12 months of informal probation, 10 work days and must have an alcohol-detecting device in any vehicle he’s in.

There was a significant law enforcement presence outside the courthouse, including marshals and Redding police officers. Kathleen Decker, a friend of Nikki, thinks Tyler got off too lightly.

"I feel like he got a way lighter sentence than he should have," Decker said. "He should have been deemed a habitual offender, it is obvious by the numerous charges he's had that he can't follow the law, that he has no regard for it. So, I see him having a probation violation in his future soon."

Sheriff's office spokesman Tim Mapes said Monday the case is still being investigated, but "details of steps being taken by investigators are not being released to protect the integrity of the investigation.
