From being married to someone of asian descent, I have learned quite a bit about the family dynamics. Life in that culture can be very stressful and the parents control the children until they move out of the house. The fact that she stays at Barnes and Nobles for 4hrs, doesn't cut it with me. I believe she was meeting someone there and once they arrived, she left, and then came back....It sounds as if there are issues at home and she needed a break. She might of just forgot to hit the lock button on her vehicle. I have done so a few times. Was her cell phone left on or off is what i would like to know...If she was abducted, no one would take the time to put her stuff in the trunk because they could be seen and there is no time to kill her right in to do so. She would be able to get away if there was time to take that step....Another thing is most asian parents do not like their children to date out of there race. She is most likely with someone her parents know nothing about because most likely they are not vietnamese. JMO.

All though I will say, my husband can spend hour on end at B&N's .... and he's not a student, he's retired.

I can see how that would tick you off. :)

That is dangerous. Especially when you are going to be returning to your car after dark. You never know if someone is hiding in your back seat.

My mom always drilled it into me.

No matter if I leave the window down (by mistake) or not, I ALWAYS check the back seat first, it's become a 'good' habit.

The youngest of eight children, Phuong Le was born in Vietnam and came to the United States at about 10 years old. In December, she graduated with a nursing degree from Solano Community College.
Former classmates said she's been stressed about trying to find a job.
"She's been texting me … and via Facebook about is there any jobs out there," Raina Lency said.
Phuong Le's family, who was planning a birthday party for her on Friday, is now planning a vigil for her on that day instead.

Private duty perhaps?
found this from her nursing friend:

The young woman did not have a job, and was seeking a nursing position as she had recently passed the stringent NCLEX Examinations to obtain a nursing license, her friend said. She did help out at her sister's Cali Hair Salon in Suisun, she added.
"She was so happy because she had just passed the exam and she was very motivated to find a job," Manio-Renta said, adding her friend wants to work in a hospital.

So there's a witness who says they saw her in the bookstore, but the videos don't show her in there.

It says she was upset about handing out the sister's flyers, but doesn't say if she went and handed them out. There's a lot of time missing so I'm wondering if she did. Wish they would specify if she did or not.

The former boss it says is a family friend, so the brother knew that picture, but the family didn't know the people in the other 5 pics that LE showed them? I wonder if LE gave them the names and if they recognized the names of the people.

This one is a worry.

Because of the window being down in the car, it sounds like she threw her stuff in the trunk, got in the car, hadn't yet put the keys in, but someone came up to the car and she put down the window to talk to them? I didn't see them specify if there were signs of a struggle at the car. If no struggle, would indicate someone she knew so got out of the car. Or someone she was friendly and kind enough to want to help - didn't know them or knew them only by sight - someone she'd seen in the bookstore before maybe.

Former boss? He met her there ... per her request .... took her for ride .. perhaps she's just staying with him a while .. or something 'bad' happened? Just thoughts ... MOO

The mother of a young nurse who disappeared without a trace more than 48 hours ago, thinks her daughter was abducted. Meanwhile, friends and family are posting fliers around Fairfield in hopes of finding her as police continue to investigate.

Phuong Le, 24, parked her car near a Barnes & Nobles bookstore in shopping plaza on Gateway Drive in Fairfield on Sunday afternoon at about 4:00 p.m. and hasn't been heard from since, according to the Fairfield Police Department.

A witness inside the store told police he saw her sitting down reading a book and she did not appear to be stressed. She usually went there to study and read books; however, Fairfield Police say they have gone over surveillance footage from the bookstore and it does not show Puong.

Phuong's mother, Sang Pham, says that when her daughter left home on Sunday, Phuong was frustrated about having to hand out fliers for her sister's beauty salon.

The last phone call Phoung made was to a Tchu Nguyen, her friend and former boss during the time she worked at Postal Express in Suisun City. He said that she called him at around 6 p.m. Sunday evening, and was distraught about her financial situation and not being able to find work as a nurse.

Phuong's brother, Hong, says she left after she had an argument with another sibling over the phone. He says she went to the bookstore to cool off.

Because the family lives in Suisun City, Le's brother contacted police around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning worried his sister was missing. Suisun Police responded to the Fairfield parking lot where Le's car was parked and looked inside. In the trunk, they found her purse, wallet, cell phone and other personal belongings.

A missing person's report was later filed.

Friends of Le were passing out fliers at the Barnes and Noble bookstore today.

Police are examining Le's computer, cell phone records and car. They searched her room Tuesday and took a digital camera, a 250 mb memory card, he social security card, her passport, a notebook and miscellaneous papers.

So what do we know about the boss? Age? How long a family friend? Did they get the spelling of HIS name right? I sleuthed around some and found nothing on that spelling, there was more with the spelling as THU and THUY; nothing on the Postal Express site. I don't like what my heart did when I read that her friend/boss is a male...

Another thought:

1. Is the car hers (title in her name) or just one that she drives?
2. Has LE contacted cell phone companies to see if she has taken another one out in her name?
3. Are any bags, clothing, toiletry missing from her room?

That's it! I'm leaving a note on my desk ... if I ever go missing, I want my sisters & brothers at Websleuths to work with LE to find me.

I am wondering if the sister was involved since Phuong Le was upset about having to hand out fliers for her sister.

The boss seems credible, doesn't come across to me, as being involved.

It's strange that an employee said they saw her, yet cameras aren't showing her ... or her car in parking lot.

It said in one of the videos that the cameras at the B and N are focused more on employees (register area) than on the customers walking around the store.

I watched the video of the boss and felt nothing... forget my questions above. He looks honestly concerned.

Do you think the ex "boss" picked her up?

No, I don't have anywhere near enough info to think anything yet. Plus I'm keeping in mind that we don't cast aspersions on innocent persons :)

I do have some questions, some things I'm wondering about, like:
- has Phuong ever had a romantic involvement with her former boss, is he married, he's reported to be a *family* friend - how well does the family know him & what do they think of him
- did Phuong hand out any flyers
- did Phuong and her sister normally get along? have they had any other arguments recently? where was sister that evening?
- what's Phuong's relationship with her parents like? how strong disciplinarians are they? how do they normally react when Phuong complains about helping the family such as handing out flyers? how often is Phuong expected to do things like this? is she not ordinarily able to simply say she needs to do something else? why could she not say she needed to look for a job rather than hand out flyers?
- what's Phuong's relationship with her brother like? where was he from the time Phuong left the house? how protective is he of his sister?
- has Phuong had any romantic involvements in the past year? how recent? any breakups? how recent?

So, as I said, I have questions and things I'm wondering, but I just don't have enough info to think anything yet, and there are so many people around Phuong, and may be more I don't know about.
