Yes, story was sort of convoluted so I hope the news updates fast with the details (not sure I got everything right and I couldn't replay the live stream). But I think the police have investigated and hit a dead end on this lead long ago.

Joshua Tree resident Edward Wamhoff says on August 4th he picked up the local newspaper and immediately recognized Joseph Orbeso and Rachel Nguyen, the pair missing, at that time for more than a week. "I seen their pictures in the paper and I thought oh no that's them," says Wamhoff.

Wamhoff is convinced Orbeso, Nguyen and another couple were staying at an Airbnb rental located across the street from his house after the dates they were declared missing in Joshua Tree National Park in late July.

"That's when I went down to file a report saying that I seen them, that they weren't missing," said Wamhoff.

At that point a massive search and rescue effort begins. Wamhoff recalls seeing Orbeso and Nguyen arrive at the Airbnb across the street from his house the night of Thursday July 27th, the day they went missing. He tells Devine shortly after they arrived another couple showed up and the four of them were in the house until the following Tuesday, August 1st.

Devine took this tip to the lead investigator in the case, Detective John Wilson.
After reviewing the case for two hours, off camera , Wilson told Devine
he had thoroughly checked out Wamhoff's story and found out some surprising information.

"We discovered that Joseph Orbeso and another man named Javier *had* rented that particular Airbnb July 12 through the 14th two weeks prior to the dates Orbeso and Nguyen went missing," said Wilson.So who is Javier? Detective Wilson explained that he is currently deployed in Japan and isn’t considered a suspect in the case. Detective Wilson was allowed access to the home and told Devine there was no sign Orbeso or Nguyen had been there. And, the owner of the house confirmed it was occupied by other renters during the search for the missing pair.

Yes most likely. Now the statement makes sense. I'm going to put a serious effort tomorrow into developing a timeline of events and places. There is something off. It is peculiar that Joseph rented this particular BnB 2 weeks before for 2 days with a guy named Javier - when Joseph reportedly went out that way - but according to a friend IIRC, they never made it outside of Palm Springs.

Something is amiss. How is this Javier guy conveniently in Japan? My hinky meter is going off the charts.
 
I really hope SAR had this info sooner. If they were in the park, who knows what they could have ingested and, as a result, what otherwise insane decisions they made.

I assume LE has been in contact with the renter of this Airbnb during that timeframe. Wonder what came of it. If JO had it previously, maybe the witness is mixing up dates.

I believe I found the AirBnB featured in the video that the witness (EW) claims he saw RN and JO at after they were missing. It's really strange that police confirmed that JO and Javier rented this same house 2 weeks prior to that. I wonder if EW could have seen JO there with another woman at the earlier date (when JO rented it with Javier) and EW just didn't remember for sure how long ago it was?

The thing that sticks out for me is the reported "4 types of hallucinigenics drugs". For one, no one buys 4 different types, and, good look obtaining 4 different types LOL. To me it's likely 4 portions of something like shrooms or Acid which are on individual tabs of paper. I can't help but notice the 4 types or doses and the report of "4 people".

Oh my gosh, I didn't even notice that! I was just focused on trying to find the address for the map people. Great looking out! I'm still trying to find the one that RN and JO checked into before going missing.

Coincidentally, that house location is very near where their footprints appeared to cross over each other. Is it possible they decided to walk to that house for some reason, leaving the car behind? You know, because it was too late in the day to go back, thinking they could retrieve it the next day... Maybe JO knew who was renting at the time they had gone hiking. Indeed, something is amiss.
 
Those pictures do not look like the same guy to me. IMO

How is it that we have not known JO's occupation before this? I wonder if that was really what he did or a SM joke for his friends? My head is spinning! :scared:
