Thinking of you today, Sierra Mae!

Knowing your Mom is missing you so SO much on Mother's Day :tears:

The search continues. The Sierra Search Team Fundraiser went well earlier this week. I didn't post about it, in order to comply with TOS.

Team Sierra's dedication to the LaMar's is unmatched - IMO. May their quest to bring Sierra home come to fruition.

It would mean everything for this family to be made whole again. It has been far too long....

June 11th, less than a month now. My thoughts are with the prosecution and Sierra's family. Maybe there will be a miracle between now and then and Sierra will be found.

Once again, it is purely an *OPINON* and speculation only....that those living with AGT at the time of her disappearance know a lot more than has been revealed. Their living quarters were far too close to not detect odd behavior or irregular activity. The prosecution is going to make mince meat of those who possess knowledge, but have remained silent. It would behoove them to start cooperating and speaking up NOW, or suffer a similar fate to AGT. :jail::jail::jail:

Just an opinion....

:loveyou: Thanks a bunch, coeurfragile!!

Just found out today from my contact in the Santa Clara county D.A.'s office that one of the reasons for the delay is that the prosecutor is involved in another murder trial currently...

http://www.kionrightnow.com/news/local-news/da-to-seek-death-penalty-for-man-accused-of-killing-sierra-lamar/26054930

“I have decided to seek the death penalty against Mr. Garcia-Torres," Rosen announced in a release Monday. "I have communicated this decision to the court, the defense counsel and to Sierra’s family. Given the facts of this case and after a comprehensive review by a committee of senior prosecutors, I have concluded that this defendant should face the ultimate penalty."

If Garcia-Torres is found guilty of murder, an additional jury hearing will be held to determine if the death penalty is appropriate punishment.

"To ensure that the defendant receives a fair trial, I will not be making further comments about my decision at this time," Rosen said.

Yesterday it was announced that the body of Kelli Bordeaux was found. It was a big surprise, and gives me hope that Sierra will soon be found as well.

Well...she was only found due to a confession. I am not sure I can imagine this guy confessing...unless the possibility of the death penalty does the trick. I don't know if Kelli would ever have been found otherwise. Same with Mickey S. Jmo

Thank you OkieGranny! :loveyou:

This almost guarantees the trial will NOT been on the fast track. :moo:

The DA's due diligence requires him to put forth an extremely solid case, especially since we still have not been able to #FindSierra

Further, the defense must prepare for the ultimate punishment - and I expect several delays.

Prepare yourselves. Although typically :justice: delayed is :justice: denied, in this case, I have to say instead, all in due time.

I do not wish to argue the merits or faults of capital punishment on the thread. I see both sides, having studied it extensively as an undergrad in forensic psych.

Instead, my wish is for Sierra Mae and the LaMar Family to be delivered the maximum justice our judicial system allows. To this point, I am of the opinion that they have been continuously revictimized by each delay, tactic and ploy made by the defense.

Today was a small victory. I hope agt is feeling fear at his own mortality. He has been charged with taking a precious life - a daughter, sister, cousin, family member and friend - and refuses to disclose her location.

He has two children of his own, which makes his deafening silence even more difficult to understand or accept.

Today, #JusticeForSierraLaMar, the LaMar Family, and the People of California, takes a major step forward.

Justice will prevail.
There will be star witnesses is my prediction.
In my opinion his mother will prove to provide vital information..

I feel confident. I don't think they would seek the death penalty unless they had solid evidence. While I don't usually like plea deals, I would be okay with LWOP if he revealed Sierras whereabouts, for her family's sake.

wow I can't remb of a case in DP without a body?

There us at least one case on here that was successfully prosecuted. But I have to ETA to find the cross-reference (the PDF file is 94 pages long)

http://www.nobodycases.com/no_body2.pdf

ETA: I no longer have iBooks on my phone

I found this link:

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_conviction_without_a_body

I will keep searching. I vaguely recall a death warrant being signed on another state, without a body. It may have been overturned on appeal. :findinglink:

I will say this: DA Rosen did not make this decision lightly. The evidence has bed. Kept close to the vest for a reason. I fully believe agt delayed all these years FOR A REASON.

Likewise, the Prosecution has good reason to file capital murder charges. I don't believe they've overcharged this case. :moo:

This arduous adjudication process has only just begun. May the LaMar's find the strength to see this through.

They are amazing people. As are the Sierra Search Team. I pray they are able to #FindSierra before opening statements.

Sierra brought me to this forum. It was the light in her eyes, her smile...I didn't even know her but something about her just made me not want to accept the gruesome reality of what happened to her. I've lived in the Bay Area for almost 2 years, I still see the occasional flier in windows or on the back of someone's pickup. I often find myself saying "Sierra where are you? Can you give us a sign?" when I'm on the freeway, surrounded by all the hills and mountains where she could be. There are so many girls just like her here, it makes me really hope that if AGT won't confess, his death will be an example to all the young men out there that would even consider doing something like this to another girl.

I pray for something, ANYTHING that could give this family a chance to put her at rest. I feel like something has to give, like maybe she's somewhere that's been under our noses the whole time. I just want answers, a direction to go in...anything for this family and her searchers. Anything to get the ball rolling.

My gut is telling me the DP is hoping that he will finally tell them where Sierra is. I sure hope they have more than what we've heard. As If I was sitting on the jury I would find it hard to convict with DNA inside of his car which is where I heard it was not in the trunk

I think you meant DA ^ ? But I know what you mean, hoping the DP will scare him into telling...
I also wonder about the evidence they have in this case.

If she's in the Morgan Hill landfill, what remains are left would be "preserved" per my earlier post about landfills. I wonder what, if anything they can do to explore that possibility. I know it would be a needle in a haystack scenario.

The local street talk is that the D.A. has a very strong case, body or not. We'll see if he has brains enough to plea.
