My heart breaks over and over again with each new detail. This is only the beginning of the discovery process, especially in a case of this gravity and magnitude.

I do feel as though some of the questions many had as to how and why the Prosecution could move forward on a capital case without Sierra being found have been answered. This was a heinous crime, and he had six hours to hurt and hide her. :stormingmad:

I will continue to support the Sierra Search Team as they valiantly seek to #BringSierraHome to Danielle Marlene and Steve. I will proudly post here with the fellow WSers who have kept Sierra's thread going strong for 2 years and almost 4 months to the day.

I hope you know how much your dedication and support means to those who love Sierra Mae. :heartluv:

Interesting revelations from above link:

"Garcia-Torres was quickly identified as the suspect. detectives interviewed him twice three weeks after Sierra disappeared in March of 2012."
(My question: I wonder what evidence led LE to AGT so quickly?...:waitasec:
could it have been surveillance cam footage... Or ???)

"The 1,900- page transcript lays out a case against Garcia Torres based on several pieces of DNA and forensic evidence."
- Her clothes had fabrics fibers from his red Volkswagen Jetta
- Her DNA was on an armrest in his car
- Some of her hair was found on a rope inside the trunk of his car
- His DNA was found on a pair of her pants in a field near her home

"Legal analyst Steven Clark says Garcia-Torres implicated himself when first questioned by police. 'He started to to volunteer answers to questions that weren't asked. And the most damaging of which is regarding how his bodily fluids could be contained at the Sierra LaMar crime scene.'"

All JMO...

http://www.contracostatimes.com/news/ci_26133623/grand-jury-transcript-be-released-case-murder-suspect?source=JBarTicker

Some information from the transcripts:

1. One of Sierra's hairs was found on a rope in Garcia-Torres's car.
2. Black fibers on Sierra's clothing were consistent with the interior of his car.
3. Sierra's shirt had dirt inside the back of it, which the prosecutor says is consistent with her being on her back and dragged by her feet
4. Garcia-Torres incriminated himself during an interview by telling police that his DNA was probably on her stuff because he'd often masturbate, ejaculate into a tissue, and then throw it out the window. At this point, LE had not specified that the DNA was from semen. Basically, he already had a detailed explanation for how his DNA would be on Sierra's stuff.
5. His alibi was that he was on a fishing trip and said he'd taken a different path to the reservoirs (a path that took him to Palm Avenues, not far from where Sierra disappeared), even though that path was in the opposite direction from said reservoirs.
6. His wife provided an alibi for him that day, but it fell apart once it was looked at closely.
7. He purchased bleach and a turkey baster only three days prior to Sierra's disappearance.
8. Video evidence from a bank and trailer park shows he had 6 hours to commit the crime, which is plenty of time to kill someone and hide their body.

ETA: I'm very curious to see the approach the defense will take. It's going to be really hard to come up with an innocent explanation for everything.

Great list of revelations of Grand Jury transcripts, Migmuu!

My question:

above link reports that AGT's purchase of bleach and baster was revealed first in the Friday, July11th release of the GJ transcripts...

but we on WS were already aware of this...

does anyone remember how we discovered this information already... Yet it was supposedly just released on Friday?

Just a question...:waitasec:

TIA...:seeya:

Out of respect for WS TOS, I am going to refrain from reciting the long list of unpleasant thoughts and names I have for this Perp.

The picture of Marlene talking about the recent new revelations (the ligature) is truly heartbreaking. Today I focus my thoughts on this case to surrounding this dear woman with strength and love. May our good Lord above continue to give her strength, and show her mercy by guiding the search to bring dear Sierra home to rest.

Respectfully snipped by me.

If I recall correctly, DNA evidence found on the folded/discarded items behind/near a shed provided a match to Torres. Wasn't he in the database previously and the match led to them following him pretty soon after she went missing?

Found it!

"Detectives learned that Garcia-Torres was connected to the missing 15-year-old on March 28, when his DNA*was found on her clothes and belongings, found two miles near the bus stop where she had last been headed, Smith said. Garcia-Torres' DNA match came back from the lab on Monday, and he was arrested shortly afterward. His DNA was in the system because of a 2009 felony assault, for which he was arrested, but never prosecuted for reasons unclear."

Regarding your question about what approach the defense will take -
Because he stated he had never met Sierra, there's no way defense can discount the DNA black fiber evidence, saying it was from prior meeting.
His lie about his never having met her seals his fate as far as I'm concerned.
I'm sure his defense will try to change that, but there's only one version of the truth, while as we all know, a lie had many versions.

This guy had better try a plea deal...any competent prosecutor should easily win this case. Jmo

:seeya: It appears from this 12/2012 article the info came from police reports.

Among the other police report findings:

-Torres worked at a Safeway, and the police reports indicate that he used his grocery store club card three days before Sierra disappeared to buy 1.5 gallons of bleach and a turkey baster. How those items are relevant to her disappearance were not spelled out.

-Torres did not work on the two days of the attempted March 19 and 26 carjackings in 2009.

-Torres was transferred from the Tennant Station Way and 840 E. Dunne Avenue on July 5 2009. He was a courtesy clerk and checker and was ultimately fired on Oct. 20, 2010.

He can only do a plea deal if the prosecution offers him one. The only reason I see here to offer one would be if he gives up the location of her body. They can probably convict him without it.

Is this a full list of the evidence? I hoped for some security tape evidence of AGT's car in Sierra's neighborhood. Also if the rope was ligature, shouldn't there also be DNA from Sierra's skin as well as hair? :(

From what we've seem, there seems to be a great case for kidnapping but not sure about murder. Justice for Sierra! :please:

ETA: it appears the links may be "broken" (at least they give me an error when I click on them via tapatalk (but work fine when I click on the direct link I posted upthread with the next court date information - via Safari on iPhone).

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the redaction agreement, or if something else is going on

It appears the State and the Court is making efforts to preserve the jury pool. :twocents:

I thought that there was video of his car near the bus stop and that is why they changed the location of her actual abduction to there instead of in front of her home. Am I dreaming? ty

Even if he now were to say he simply gave her a ride and never harmed her; once a person lies, and covers up, there's no second chance. It's too late.

There too much of acceptance these days of perps changing their account to fit newly revealed evidence. Lying negates reasonable doubt.
