Per mercurynews.com article of 2-13-14 (link above) it looks like there is a good chance there will be no change of venue (as defense is requesting)...

I am relieved of that... The surrounding hoopla and the further delays (should there be a change in venue) would be so unnecessary IMO.....

Thanks for the updates regarding AGT's ongoing hearings, Kimi...

:seeya:

There is a contingent of Sierra Searchers & supporters of her family who make every effort to attend every single court appearance.

I am very happy to hear the press specifically address agt looking back to see them there, quietly but strongly and stoically representing Sierra Mae LaMar and the LaMar family once again.

Today's hearing was a monumental one in this journey. The delay tactic worked for years, but that chapter ended today. It took the Grand Jury Indictment to move forward - so be it.

These dedicated Searchers will be out there again on Saturday until they #FindSierra. Their solemn vow to Danielle, Marlene and Steve is one they take very seriously, and they will not stop until she is found. They never cease to amaze me and I am honored to know them.

The delays also worked against him. Every day that Sierra was missing strengthened the Prosecution's case that she is not longer with us.

"He looked nervous," said Doug Tollis, a volunteer with Team Sierra. "We want him to be nervous."

Tollis was one of dozens of volunteers who have been searching for Sierra that attended Thursday's hearing. Sierra's family were not in court.

I agree with Team Sierra volunteer Mr. Tollis...

I want AGT to be shaking in his prison slippers, too!

And of course he should be nervous. Someone talked. They know.
Best he can hope for at this point is a plea bargain. He'd be so much better to cop a plea and by taking LE to her body. They might be inclined to permit him some form of a life in prison vs. what is in store for him. If he's smart (?) he will plea.

As always, my opinion only.:jail:

He's definitely nervous! Someone pulled the rug out from under him. This has been going on so long I think he actually believed he could continue this game forever.

I'm glad he is no longer in control of this trial.

Yes indeed. The smug and swag seem to have evaporated.
For convicted felons who have perpetrated these type of violent crimes, I would very much like us to outsource their care to prison systems outside the U.S. Perhaps Mexico would be a good choice? I don't think their prison systems are as "plushy" as ours. We'd be creating sorely needed jobs, and helping their economy. Sounds like a plan to me!:jail:

Great... And economically sound... idea, Rosesfromangels!

How about Peru? I hear their prisons are very plushy, LOL, just ask Joran Van der Sloot!:floorlaugh:

Dive Team Trains at Lake Where Sierra LaMar Murder Suspect Used to Go Fishing

By Kris Sanchez | Tuesday, Feb 25, 2014 | Updated 8:55 PM PST

Suspect in Sierra Lamar Case Pleads Not Guilty

(snip)

(Mark) Garcia is a private investigator working for LaMar’s parents. He says this lake is about a half-mile from where Sierra LaMar’s suspected killer’s mother lived and from where sources say Antolin Garcia Torres used to go fishing.

Sheriff’s divers have searched the lake several times, most recently on Feb. 11, the same day a grand jury indicted Garcia Torres on one count of murder and three counts of attempted kidnapping and carjacking.

(snip)

Stenderup said the dive team was training at Hidden Farm Lake because it is one of the few lakes in the county that has enough water for zero-visibility training without need for a boat and without the curious public interfering.

(snip)
Almost two years after Sierra LaMar disappeared, volunteers continue to go out looking for clues every Saturday and many Thursdays.

One of the volunteer coordinators says he hopes sheriff’s investigators know more than they are telling the public.

“I hope that they are on to something and that all of our searching has not been in vain, and I hope we can bring Sierra back to her family,” Roger Nelson said.

The grand jury report has not been released to the public and might not be before Garcia Torres goes to trial.

Garcia Torres is due back in court on March 3.

The last minute order from February 13, 2014 (handwritten scribble) shows March 10th lined out and April 16th written in.

It does NOT show anything from the Grand Jury (not surprising :moo: as they're sealed, correct?)

http://www.scscourt.org/general_info/news_media/newspdfs/garciatorres/Minute%20Order%20021314-%20213515.pdf

This is the other minute order released the same day, but it does not address any calendar issues
http://www.scscourt.org/general_info/news_media/newspdfs/garciatorres/Minute%20Order%20021314-%20C1233134.pdf

I haven't been able to locate anything in MSM regarding a court appearance, and the Santa Clara County Superior Courts reflect the next hearing information as follows:
Case Information:
Case Number: C1233134
Case Title: People vs. Antolin Garcia-Torres
Filing Date: May 24, 2012
Upcoming Court Dates at the Hall of Justice:
April 16, 2014, 1:30 p.m., Department 24

http://www.scscourt.org/general_info/news_media/garcia-torres.shtml

All of my contacts are not aware of a hearing today, so I am wondering if the media made a mistake? :scared:

Thanks, Kimi!

Interesting regarding the confusion in reports regarding AGT's court hearing!
