Kelly Thomas Beating Death: Fullerton Police Not Intentionally Deceptive, Says Report (huffingtonpost.com)
---
Thomas' father said he thought the report somewhat vindicated his son but he did not believe the Police Department had no intent to deceive the public.

"All of it was intended to make Kelly look bad – every bit of it," Ron Thomas told reporters after the meeting. "They didn't have the facts there, and as it comes out now, it's not substantiated."

Just a little write-up of the defendant's attorney. There's no question about it, the officer will get a fair trial.

Cops call John Barnett when they are in trouble and Judges call Paul Meyer.

I know Case Barnett and he is an extremely likeable, smart young lawyer. He has had a few coups of his own and he will also be a high profile defense attorney one of these days. Ironically-Case Barnett was the attorney that exposed a bit of corruption right in court to reveal that the cop was lying in his police report . end result was a hand smack for the perp.

His son Case was also the attorney for that dude-Chamberlain- that was beaten to death in Theo Lacey, while the guards did nothing- because the guards leaked he was a child molestor- even though he wasn't accused of that.

I purposefully didn't read about this when it first came out, because I thought it would be too sad to bear. I was right. Thank you for bringing it back up. Looking forward to seeing justice for this young man.

This case started today and unfortunately since our search function is having problems I cannot find the original discussion right now.
But get a box of kleenex if you listen to the audio of Kelly Thomas being beaten to death by officers last summer.
2 officers are charged and I will post link s shortly.

A little bit of background. Kelly Thomas was a schizophrenic, homeless man that basically lived on the streets of Fullerton. He was well known to the FPD and IIRC was regarded as harmless.
Police came on a call of someone breaking into cars and basically beat Kelly Thomas to death. The pictures are graphic and disturbing. I listened to 5 minutes of the beating and it was heartbreaking.
I will post the podcast of the trial recap when it goes up and post the audio which they synced with video in court today for a 33 minute film of the entire murder.

Kelly Thomas video: 'Dad, they are killing me'

Kelly Thomas repeatedly apologized to Fullerton police officers, saying he was "sorry" as they continued to pummel him with their fists and batons, a dramatic video of the July 5 beating of the homeless man reveals.
The grainy black-and-white video, shown Monday on the first day of a preliminary hearing for two Fullerton police officers charged in the case, shows a shirtless Thomas being repeatedly struck.
He eventually screams: "Dad, they are killing me."

Video of bloody Calif arrest unveiled in court

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — A shirtless Kelly Thomas pulled on his long, scraggly hair while police searched his backpack.
Moments later, Officer Manuel Ramos snapped on latex gloves and threatened to take on the mentally ill homeless man, according to surveillance video and audio recordings unveiled Monday at a hearing to determine if Ramos and another officer will stand trial in the death of Thomas.
Thomas said he forgot his name and didn't sit with his feet stretched out in front of him, as police had ordered. When he got up, Ramos and another officer swung at him with their batons and pinned him to the ground as he pleaded with them to stop.
"I can't breathe man," Thomas moaned shortly before another officer used a Taser on him, according to a transcript of the muffled recordings.
"Dad, help me," Thomas says.

J Bean, I had trial in the same courthouse as the prelim today. I saw Mr. Thomas, his lawyer and the scores of media interviewing them, after the end of proceedings today.

I had heard earlier, just a snip of someone talking about, based on the horrible evidence revealed today, that this case was seriously undercharged.

Then, I turned on KFI and the news report played the awful audio presented in court today. No warning and it is worse than I could imagine. I wish I never heard it and I will never forget it as long as I live.

We should have six indictments for first degree murder right now. Even if Ramos and Centinelli get the max, IMO, these officers will have all gotten away with murder.

I know you live nearby so if you want to meet me for trial once that commences, to see at least a portion, let me know, okay? If I go, I think I will need someone with me for support based on what I heard today.

That is the podcast I will link when it goes up. It is disturbing and horrendous. But I think people need to hear it to understand that this WAS murder.
I was at the courthouse today too Gitana. Maybe we passed each other. I am one of those slouches hanging around in the front breezeway bidding on foreclosures.

You were? I see you guys biding all the time. It fascinates me. Did you watch any of the prelim? I want to go and support Kelly and his family but man, it's very hard.

No I did not attend. It ran most of the day though didn;t it?

I know people like to watch us- but trust me when I say it is actually quite boring LOL.

I am interested in attending- but considering I practically drove off the road while listening to 5 minutes on the radio during my commute home-I am not sure I could take it.

So the defense is insinuating that is wasn't FPD that killed Kelly Thomas but rather the paramedics! They took too long to treat him, they did overly aggressive chest compressions, and they took him to the wrong hospital.
Never mind he was beaten to a bloody pulp. I guess the pictures of his body were pretty awful.

These defendants just make me sick-they really do. Bullies with tasers, batons, and authority a deadly combination imo.

Dying Kelly Thomas Initially Ignored By Fullerton Paramedics Because of Police Request
During the first hour of today's preliminary hearing for two Fullerton Police Department officers accused of criminally killing a homeless man last July, the biggest news came from a paramedic who first treated exceptionally minor scratches and bruises on cops before trying to save the brutalized, dying victim
