What are the chances that Myles shot his own brother? Obviously I’m just conjecturing, but maybe Damian was slowing them down? Or felt guilty and wanted to turn themselves in?

If these guys can shoot their own people, maybe one could shoot his own brother.

I doubt that’s the actual scenario but I’m grateful one is down. Now to find the one who was already a fugitive.
This is what I am wondering as well. If The car was spotted with 2 people inside maybe it was Myles and a hostage?

It doesn't seem that they have/had firearms, as all of the killings and injuries are stabbings.

As we know, in stabbings some/many people injure themselves due to knife slippage. And hopefully some people were able to fight back and inflict their own injuries on these heinous murderers.

(Which doesn't exclude a deadly fight or murder between the two assailants, of course.)

If Myles is still alive and running it's probably dawned on him by now that he'll be facing the charges alone. And no more statutory release, this time it's for good.

Myles managed to elude capture since May so he must have some sort of hideaway plan. IMO I doubt anyone will harbor him at this point though. I think he's on his own now.
But it just dawned on me with your post what if someone who would help him currently hates LE. Although I agree with your post that he's probably on his own now.

A mother of two, a 77-year-old widower, a first responder and a 14-year-old boy were the initial victims identified in a stabbing spree in Canada that killed 10 people and wounded at least 18 others.
...
Hours before the stabbings, Lana Head, a mother of two daughters, posted on Facebook that she had "so many good memories to cherish."
...
"It's sick how jail time, drugs and alcohol can destroy many lives," Michael Brett Burns, Head's former partner, told the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network. A statement by indigenous leaders also indicated the attacks might have been drug related.

Ivor Burns and Darryl Burns from the James Smith Cree Nation told Reuters their sister, Gloria, was among the dead. They blamed drugs and alcohol as well.

"We have 10 people dead, including my sister. She was butchered ... with her friend and a 14-year-old boy, all three of them," Ivor Burns said in an interview.

Gloria was a first responder, who went to a crisis call, and died after being caught up in the violence, Darryl Burns said.
...
Residents in the village of Weldon in Saskatchewan identified one of the victims in the community as Wes Petterson, a 77-year-old widower.

"He was just a lovely man," said Doreen Lees, 89, of Weldon.

“Damien Sanderson's body was found outdoors in a heavily grassy area near a house that was being examined, she said.

"We can confirm he has visible injuries. These injuries are not believed to be self-inflicted at this point," Blackmore said without specifying what caused the injuries.

Asked if Myles Sanderson was suspected of also killing his brother, Blackmore said, "We haven't confirmed that. We can't say one way or the other if Myles was involved in the death of Damien."….”

Maybe one of the victims wounded him. He could have been shot or stabbed and bled out later.

One of the articles I read quoted a woman in town who was approached by someone with his face covered, asking for assistance.

She said he fled when she offered to call for assistance. A victim would have no reason to flee.

Update #7 for Dangerous Person Alert issued by Melfort RCMP

September 5, 2022
Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan

Update for the Dangerous Person Alert issued by the Melfort RCMP for multiple fatal stabbings. Damien Sanderson has been located deceased. Saskatchewan RCMP continues to search for Myles Sanderson, who is 6 foot one inch and 240 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He may be injured and seek medical attention. He may be in a black Nissan Rogue with SK license plate 119 MPI. It's unknown if he's travelling with anyone.

Instructions: The public should take appropriate precautions. Do not approach suspicious persons and report any information to your local police and emergencies to 911.

Saskatchewan RCMP Commanding Officer Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore's statement from Monday afternoon press conference:

Good afternoon,

After 11:30 a.m., a deceased male was located on the James Smith Cree Nation. At 1:17 pm., it was confirmed by Saskatchewan RCMP Forensic Investigation Section the deceased is wanted Damien Sanderson.

His body was located outdoors, in a heavily grassed area in proximity to a house being investigated. We can confirm he has visible injuries, not believed to be self-inflicted at this point. The exact cause of death will be determined in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroner's Office with a date and time to be determined.

Myles Sanderson, Damien's brother, may have sustained injuries, this has not been confirmed. We want the public to know this because there is a possibility he may seek medical attention.

Even if he is injured, it does not mean he is not still dangerous. Myles has a lengthy criminal record involving both persons and property crimes.

Myles is facing three counts of first-degree murder and is wanted. We considered him armed and dangerous, do not approach him. If you know of his whereabouts, immediately call 911.

Our thoughts continue to go out to the families of the victims.

This brings the count of this tragedy to 11 deceased, 19 injured and 13 crimes scenes.

Thank you.

Good video of press asking questions after the latest presser. RCMP says they're confident that Myles was in Regina and that there were two people in the vehicle.

Note that I can't link directly to the video so go to the link then click on RCMP Officials Take Questions on Manhunt.

i first thought maybe he took someone hostage but then they'd probably say something like that

i guess someone sympathetic to his cause or a friend?

shoot? they stabbed the victims

As for motive, it's possible Myles Sanderson's reservation banned him from entering because of his past violence, and so he took revenge on the whole community. In some jurisdictions in Canada, a person in trouble with the law can avoid being locked up in Remand until their trial IF the community takes him/her in.

From the 'questions from media' video (significant paraphrasing in many cases):

- LE can't say definitively that Myles killed Damien, but that is an avenue they are following up on.
- Q: why do you think Myles is still in Regina? A: LE feels confident in the sighting of the vehicle and that there were 2 people in it. Admittedly the information is a day old, but they have no reason to believe that he is not there. They simply have no more confirmed sightings. They have not located the vehicle.
- Q: Is there still a specific threat to James Smith Cree Nation? What is the police presence like there? A: We have a significant presence there. As you can imagine it takes a lot of resources to process 13 crime scenes. It will take many, many days. Regarding risk to residents, Myles Henderson is still at large and we are encouraging people to remain vigilant in JS Cree Nation, the province of Saskatchewan and neighbouring provinces. He has proven himself to be violent.

ETA: ooops, hit post too soon!

- Regarding Myles potential injuries....LE has no confirmation but they have reason to believe that he sustained injuries [perhaps from the 2 women who were approached by the guy with his face covered? My speculation.]
- Q: have you thought about a possible motive? A: That is still an avenue of investigation. But have no knowledge of motive at this point.
- Q: are you concerned that he might flee to the US? A: we notified Canadian Border Services and they are aware. They will be checking documents. [I'm not sure this is sufficient. JMO]

I'm still not finished the video and will post any other relevant points in another thread if needed.

Thanks @Snoopster! If confirmed sighting means by a person as opposed to CCTV then there’s always a chance the witness was mistaken about two people being in the SUV.

Too many possibilities for now to make an educated guess IMO. So here we wait…
