Canada - 10 dead and at least 15 wounded in stabbing attacks in Saskatchewan, 2022

Oh no!!!!

WITCHEKAN LAKE FIRST NATION - Saskatchewan RCMP have issued a provincewide alert for several armed suspects on a First Nation northwest of Saskatoon.

They say there are reports of a shooting on the Witchekan Lake First Nation.

Residents are advised to stay inside and lock their doors.

Mounties say the suspects may be in a mid-2000s dark red Ford Mustang.

Mounties say the shooting is not believed to be connected to Sunday's deadly stabbing rampage on the James Smith Cree Nation and village of Weldon, northeast of Saskatoon.

Two suspects in those stabbings remain at large.

Can someone help me understand WHERE First Nation is located?
"First Nation" is a generic term for "reservation", of which there are over 600 in Canada. So we need to know which First Nation they are speaking about.

ETA Damien Sanderson has been found dead on the James Smith Cree Nation

Here is a pic I took yesterday. Maybe it will help.

IMO First Nation refers to the indigenous people of Canada. What used to be referred to in the U.S. as native Americans.
IMO the 2 suspects were members of the Cree First Nation tribe/band & lived on the James Smith Cree Nation (aka reservation) just north of Melfort, Saskatchewan, Canada.

And the James Smith Cree Nation is where this all started.

So Regina is First Nation? I'm just trying to figure out how far away he was found from Regina, or if he was. Thanks.

No, Regina is not considered First Nation, although there are many First Nations people living there, and the city acknowledges First Nations Territorial Treaty lands.

It is likely that Damien never left the community where the crimes were committed and never went to Regina.
