Street corner, mommy and me class, university campuses - everywhere... Sadly, it's rampant and Calgary is certainly not immuned. It's easy and cheap to manufacture and cheaper than other stimulants such as crack cocaine.

He's too socially inept to get into "a scene" soccer moms, accountants, etc. He did not make eye contact or any contact with his immediate neighbours. Cook yes, dealer no.

How would anyone know how the family of the accused is doing? It's certainly not something that should be in the news.

It's very common for there to be reports in the media about the background and activities of the family of the accused. What stands out in this case is the almost complete lack of info.

"He pleaded guilty to two drug-trafficking charges in January of 2000 and was sentenced to 39 months in jail, though in fact, because of the accelerated release program, he appears to have served only between six and 10 months."

In 89 thru 93 it was out of work chemical engineers in Alberta who were swooned. A UBC prof spent a year in jail for cooking methamphetamine. Since the stop trade of ephedera )<sp?), the brown meth trailer batch became prominent. But even the bathtub mix pop-up crowd need connections, one doesn't just pop onto the scene/territory and start dealing.

All DG would need to do is spend some time in a seedy bar and eventually he would see the right people to approach to sample his wares.

We keep thinking DG has no friends or connections but I think it could be that he does but they are other scumbags that would not be approaching the press to talk about their friend Doug.

If a gang member got arrested for murder do you think the other gang members would be contacting the press for interviews?

Do any examples come to mind?

At no point did I say that cops are bumbling fools, I'm saying that there may have been a second person. believe it or not, in this day and age cops can be wrong too,, people who are innocent are on death row stateside as we post on ws,, Canada has incarcerated numerous people - recently - for very long stretches based on misdirection.

Let's say we were sleuthing the Rizzuto's, it's unlikely that any of us would question the sleuthing of blood relatives or family members. Why is it because it is this family do we automatically suppose that all is squeaky clean?

Do you honestly think DG is AL's only enemy?

Not to mention the cops may even suspect another person is involved but will not say anything. If LE claims DG acted in this alone then other people involved will not feel the need to run. Just because LE is saying there are no more suspects, does not mean that there is not another person involved. JMO

Does this really matter to you. He's an adult. They are in their 80s. Whose going to be making statements to the media about the accused or the parent's of the accused? The parents appear to be stable members of the community having lived there for 40 years.

Yes, it does matter to me. I would like to know more about them and their relationship to their son. As for who speaks out in cases like these, all sorts of people do.

both of those activities require connections, they are not one-off endeavors. The early re-boom in meth coincides with when he started "cooking". Then like now, it is the enterprise of the H.A and similar or org crime. He had his connections. Everyone asks what he did outside of what we know of DG, and there aint that a much.

He was caught with a dummy bank card for what purposes? did he buy 7/11 disposable pay as you go cell phones with that card?

Is it so far fetched that others may have been harbouring the same resentment as DG and that they might know eachother?

He has a history of criminal activities. He also knows how not to speak. Biker gangs come to mind. Cooking meth is risky business. JMO

Yes. The neighbours of Dellen Millard's mother were interviewed about her habits. The parents of the Calgary student made a statement to express their sympathies with the victim. The parents of the Boston bombers, one son'wife and her parents were all the subjects of news reports.

The Lanzas, parents of the Sandy Hook killer, were the subject of a major New Yorker profile earlier this year not to mention everything that went before.

It is normal that people want information about the families of the accused in cases like these.

What community support have you seen? Other than an abrasive reverend's tweets, I haven't seen anyone who knows them and/or supports them speak out. Of course, I may very well have missed it.
There were a couple of tweets under the reverend's.

It would be in his best interest to be talking to his lawyer. How many defenses are there: self-defense (not reasonable in this case), reasonable doubt by attacking the evidence (possible) or by blaming someone else(I suppose it is possible), or claiming not criminally responsible on account of mental illness (unlikely in this case).

"It wasn't me" defense.

"Spun" - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0283003/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_25 reminds of meth every time. p.s. Mickey Rourke in this movie.

On the other hand, all the discussion about disintegrating three bodies is completely inconsistent with the activities of Vieworx using their helicopter and software to analyse the ground in and around the acreage.

In going along with my chemical theory (I actually have a few theories) if he went that route he would need a barrel or some type of large container. He would then need to get rid of it somewhere somehow and I'm guessing they did not find anything like that in the landfill.

Just thoughts...

What's the theory? Was the accused set up, was he involved with a biker gang that murdered a five year old child and his grandparents as a favour, or did he get together with someone that lost money through dealings with one of the victims and together the committed murder?

What evidence is there that more than one person was involved in the three murders?

Is there any evidence that the murders are a result of business dealings? As far as I remember, the evidence led to the accused, and only then was a possible motive understood. It isn't the case that the motive was understood, and therefore someone with business dealings was arrested.

There is speculation on a sour business deal (patent). However, there is also a class of legal loan sharks who invest via MOU, memorandum of understanding; these are short term quick fix loan type investments with a determined profit value, it may have been an MOU for payroll purposes with an exchange of intellectual property for added value or something more tangible than $$$. Someone or persons were backing Winter Pet for 10 years without returns and might also be miffed that it went bankrupt and the CEO has decided to retire to Mexico. Canada/Alberta has had a spate of really decrepit crimes, is it so hard to picture another angry character a bit smarter than DG but equally as incensed at AL's walk away?

Whoever was MOU'ing Winter Pet might be legitimate and/or criminal. The legitimate MOU'er would know DG.

He would just need to know one person to sell it to in bulk. It's just like any other manufacturing. He could have even been approached by someone that knew he was a chemist and asked him or hired him to make meth. Then he was paid for his services and the guy who paid him broke it up into medium sized baggies and sold it to 10 people and those 10 people broke it up into 50 small baggies and sold it to a bunch of drug addicts in the bars and on the streets.
