Prosecutor Vicki Faulkner says #Garland was acting on a long held "grudge" that he worked on for years.

Gates warns jury will hear evidence that "may be emotionally distressing - even disturbing". #Garland

Justice Gates has now been speaking to the jury for 30 minutes. After he wraps up Crown prosecutor Vicki Faulkner will give a statement.

"There is no magic formula to determine how much or how little of the evidence from witnesses to believe," said Gates.

Gates tells jurors "The accused is presumed innocent. The burden is on the Crown to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt." #Garland

"If you find Mr. #Garland guilty of anything it will be up to me to determine a sentence," said Justice Gates

"What the Crown says in opening address is not evidence. It's only what they hope or intend to prove," Gates. #Garland

"The bottom line is you must keep an open mind. First impressions can be deceiving," said Gates who warned jurors not to share opinions.

"You must not look up anything related to this on your own. You must not try to learn anything about the law on your own," Gates said.

Gates says media coverage may seem overwhelming but is a positive sign about public interest in the case. #Garland

"An accused can only be found guilty from evidence of that is heard in court," Gates. "This trial has generated a lot of public interest."

"It is your duty to determine if the accused, Mr. Garland, is guilty or not guilty." Gates warned about watching coverage of #garland trial.

"You are the sole judges of the facts" said Gates. "Listen with a great deal of care to the evidence. #Garland

Justice Gates now giving instructions to the jury. Says he knows it's inconvenient but an important part of the judicial process.
