I think it was 2 different days.

Nancy Hixt tweeted "Cst. Darcy Williams said he took Sully to #Garland property July 5/14 and started working on the far SW corner of the property due to wind"

The wood chipper mention brings awful things to mind, as does the little green sweater.

The dog dog clearly found something of immense interest. Tomorrow's testimony will be very important.

I wonder if the sweater was an old garment that was being used as a rag, as previously suggested. It was summer so I doubt little Nathan had a sweater at his grandparents that night. It could have shrunk in the wash and he just didn't throw it away.

It's hard to bring up anything "light" when talking about this case but i find it endearing how Lind speaks of Sully. Even from the tweets you can tell he loves and respects him.

Agreed! These precious animals, however, do bring light into even the darkest of situations. I am mum to a 13 year old yellow lab and can only extol her virtues. The most caring, loving, clever creature. I remember falling in love with Sully in 2014 when we saw snippets of him at work.

If the wood chipper is involved in this then this case goes beyond the horrors of the cases I have ever followed.

Why would they find multiple socks, shoelaces, belt buckles etc... in the burn pile debris? Weren't AL, KL and NO sleeping at the time they were assaulted? There would be no reason for them to be wearing belt buckles or shoes with shoelaces while they were sleeping. PJs with buttons or zippers are possible and even the socks but where did the belt buckles and shoelaces come from?

Unless he burnt the clothes he was wearing and shoes...

Yes, thank you for the correction. Williams and a "back up" handler (Johnson) were the first to take Sully to the farm on July 5, 2014. He is the one who "went with the wind" and started from the SW corner of the property and the dog alerted and sat at a "rock pile" near a trailer and the burn pit that day. Then the dog moved on to the outbuildings. Because of the chemicals, Williams didn't feel secure so he was to come back. I guess he returned on July 18th with Sully's regular handler, Linds for the followup.

I was confused because they had Linds testify first but he was actually there at a later date than Johnston. I know things don't have to go in order but that is how my brain works!

I can definitely see DG burning his clothes, just really curious where the other belt buckles came from. Perhaps it's just a mistweet and only one buckle was found in the debris. The microchips have me wondering where they came from as well. Some kind of electronics?

If the Garlands hoard shoes I'd bet the hoard clothing too ... it could be that Garland has used the 'little green sweater' to wipe his hands on or some such thing ...

Or ... if Nathan had whipped off the pink pyjamas - (this is so hard to type) could Garland have made him put some clothes on before he took him, whatever was to hand?

Now I think of it, I'm wondering if he did take Nathan alive, took him not knowing at that point what he would do because he hadn't planned on Nathan being a part of it ... and maybe that's why he searched 'how to kill without emotion' 😯😢

I thought of this this too it was to hard to type so I didn't i didnt 😳

Remember this took place over a couple of days. He would have to burn his clothes every time he came into contact with his victims. He would have the clothes he wore the night he took them plus whatever he wore the days following.

As soon as I heard microchips I immediately thought of my dogs. They are all microchipped. I'm just going to let that sit there and say no more.

Just an aside, I have trained hunting dogs/field Trial dogs. 1 lab and 1 golden. Their noses are incredible. They air scent, put their noses down and find their birds. It's not taught. It's natural ability. It's incredible to watch.

They are amazing. I have a Jack Russell who is CRAZY over balls. After throwing the ball forever, and the dog dragging herself to get it we hide the ball in the yard and she will go back and forth, about 2 meters from, but parallel her last path until she finds that ball. Her innate knowledge to stay parallel and not just wander all over the place is amazing. I can't image what the dogs, who have training, can do.

My puzzlers for tonight:

1. microchips (yes maybe dogs, what else?)
2. "little" green sweater (HOW little? Toddler? Child? Pre-teen? Women's petite?). Has there been anyone missing in Alberta with a green sweater? Off I go to google around....
3. I don't want to, but I'm sure I'll be thinking about the d@mn woodchipper.....

The Hartley's are from Aetna as are my friends. They were farming neighbours. In 1980 the Hartley kids were going to the country store for Halloween costumes. It was not a single vehicle accident as they hit another neighbour. These people are in their seventies now and she recalls how bad the other neighbour was hurt in the accident. DG was not there.
