The new search was east side of Range Road 290 which is a mile east of property on Range Road 291. If you place a marker at the intersection of 274 and 291 *right below the slough* and go 2 km *approx NE* you go north on 290 and reach an entrance point into a field with gates and fence....east side...and behind that a bunch of brush and trees....and that leads to....the point D on this map....as far as I can tell :) D on this being the blue box ...not 'where' the D is on this map...within that blue box.

Thank you as well !

I thought the 2km meant 2km from the Garland property. Did they mean 2km from the slough? Not a huge difference though I guess. It's all really close by and open field and I'm sure they will keep searching lots of land in this area.
I thought that too...from Garland's so I zoomed in to find east side of 290 with a gate and treed area behind ...and if you go as the crow flies its about the 2k.....and you are right...I'm sure they will be searching anywhere and everywhere....its exhausting just following it....never mind those poor guys out there....gotta give them a lot of credit for patience and fortitude for sure! :)

Nathan’s father, Rod O’Brien, was in court for the appearance. When asked if he knows of a connection between his family and Garland’s, he said, “I do. But I’m not going to comment today.”

Court records show Garland had no other problems with the law until a few years ago.

In January 2010, he received a $575 fine for failing to yield to a pedestrian in Airdrie.

That is what I was was thinking. It seems odd that they would announce they are done right after the dog indicated it found something.

Many police officers work flex hours of four 10 hour days, then three off. They start at 6AM, finish at 4, then the next shift starts. Some are probably done for the day, although they still have to do reports about what they did and saw during the search.

I wonder if indeed they did find something but are trying to get rid of media?

First time post - but have been following the story since last Wednesday. I agree with dyannaON on this thought. I live in Airdrie and there is a lot of daylight left. My guess is that they have found something either in the slough or in the field and are looking to retrieve it without media attention at this point. There has been too much activity and a lot of additional resources brought in today to imagine it was without good reason... IMO.

Yes, I'm wondering if the officer quoted who said they were done for the day was referring to his team only and that new officers will be taking over on the next shift.

Police dog stops at one spot in the pasture, sits and stays a few mins. Handler radioes, orange marker left at spot.

“Not much left to see here,” says police officer. “We’re done for the day.” #yyc #AmberAlert

Or the searchers are done because they found what they were looking for .. Time to call in the forensic people to the spot..??

Did you mean cadaver *dogs*? Hopefully I didn't miss something!? :(

Oops! yes, I meant dogs.. But they are not looking for live people out there..

Let me see if I've got this straight.

DG was arrested driving a green truck. Search warrants were obtained for the property he shares with his parents. LE was able to search property for at least 12 hours before media swooped in. DG was charged with for identity theft and held. Also questioned about missing 3 people as his family member knows the L family. RO appears at DG's court hearing in the company of CPS homicide detective and declines to comment. Via reporter's tweet we hear that DG's parents are accounted for. Search continues on adjoining property.

What I'd like to know:

What sort of tips are the cops going on? Family fed or Public fed tips? Did someone in the L/O family recognize the truck? Where is their family spokesperson? Why are there still no stories about the adult victims to paint a picture of who they are? Are the family cooperating? Are there some who are not? Has anyone obtained a lawyer other than DG? Have investigators finished analyzing the L's vehicle(s)?

Very interesting idea. Perhaps when the media helicopter is grounded.

Welcome! perhaps you or a native Canadian can help me with pronunciations? Slough--is it sloff or slew, and how do you pronounce Airdrie? Again, thank you!

You've got a few things mixed up there.

He wasn't arrested driving the truck. He was arrested at the rural home. I guess technically he wasn't really "arrested" at all according to LE. But they said he questioned him about the family's disappearance and that's the reason he was taken into custody. They then let him go, but shortly took him back into custody for an identity theft charge.
