This looks to be a rural area. It doesn't seem likely that a 2-year old would get very far in the darkness, especially if it's very cold. It seems more likely that he would find a spot to curl up and go to sleep. Prayers for poor little Chase. :please:

He is described as 2½ feet tall and 30 pounds with blue eyes and light brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket, black splash pants, a red hat and boots that light up as he walks. (Courtesy RCMP)

...Chase's mom, Destiny Turner, told CBC News the boy doesn't tend to wander off. She said he is often with one of the family dogs, but all of the animals are at home.

#rcmpmb want to thank everyone who is searching for Chase Martens. We
currently have enough resources. Please do not attend the scene.

Outside alone? OMG, really? My youngest is 13 yrs old and I don't let him out there by himself. (small for his age and emotionally immature for his age) 2 years old, just a baby. Hope they check under the house, septic if applicable, etc

uncle states that there has been no sign of Chase found yet, also explains there's lots of bush (woods to non- Canucks) and a creek with ice and running water about a half kilometre from the house, with a path down to it. They've searched the creek.

Also, that updated overnight temp I posted (-12c) is about 10.4 degrees F, and for those who may not know, this area is in the plains and can be subject to pretty strong winds, so I'd be interested to know what the windchill was. K, promise to stop posting so obsessively for a bit, at least.

Also from this article:
Wall said the creek, about a half a kilometre away from the boy's home, was one of the first places searchers checked because there is a trail to it direct from the residence.

"His dad chops wood there so he has been there before."

:(

For those in the US, -10 C is +14 Fahrenheit. :(

Oh no, the temp is not in anyones favor. I cannot even imagine how cold that must feel, especially being out in the elements this long.
Poor little guy. Sending warm vibes and safe prayers for Chase his family, S&R and everyone involved in trying to find him.

Keep on posting! This is a dire situation. Any information is appreciated.

That raises an eyebrow or two now doesn't it. How old is Chases mum and doesn't she realize dogs don't make good babysitters, just good playmates?
i try so very hard not to judge without full info, but my lands it's hard not to judge and get frustrated when you hear things like that, isn't it.

Also, thanks for that watcher9. As you can see, I'm not keeping my promise very well. Getting frustrated listening to the presser link's wait music... !! Hoping for info soon!
eta: NOT to judge. Left out an important word there DOH!

Presser started. Over 300 people searching now. Search continues.

Not ruling out anything. Expanding search, not sure of exact radius at this time. Command centre, groups of investigators and search and rescue, supported by aerial RCMP and Manitoba police, dog teams.

A bit more about where the search is taking place in this article: http://uicnews.com/2016/03/23/breaking-massive-search-for-missing-2-year-old-boy/

"Hutterites from a nearby colony were on site feeding the volunteers and singing hymns for the crowds waiting to be sent out on a search team.

The location is behind our building where UIC is located. Helicopters can be heard and have been active since last night."

Not aware of any family or custody issues, but still investigating. Focus is still to find him well.
