"The Nova Scotia RCMP will be updating the media tomorrow afternoon with the latest information regarding the Esther Jones missing person investigation." The Valley Eye Photography
Local rumors circulating this afternoon that there has been a break in the case from a few neighbors who saw a police presence and possibly an arrest being made. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until tomorrow afternoon for the updated details.

seems strange for them to not do a press conference until tomorrow afternoon - especially if people saw activity it could lead to leaks.

The police must have had evidence from the start to treat this as suspicious from the off.

From the background information of her being her mums carer, her mum passing recently - I’d have automatically thought she was struggling to cope and suicide was likely outcome

As the daughter and care-giver, maybe she stood to receive more than others wrt any possible resources after the mother died?. speculation, imo.

Canada RCMP is VERY TIGHT LIPPED. Actually, leaks were happening days ago, but until there is an arrest there is going to be no official statements. Normally, I don't follow Canadian cases as it is a waste of time until it goes to court maybe years later, or until Crime Beat does a story. But, this story was local to me and Esther although I did not know her, everyone loved her and of course, I was very interested in following her case.

A friend of mine & myself wondered exactly if this was a possibility as apparently, she was a caretaker/giver & maybe handled the finances.

The old saying boyfriend, husband, follow the money...right? It's a possibility.

I'm wondering if her parents were relatively well off. Esther has 14 siblings, so unless her parents were wealthy I'm not sure why any of their children would expect much from the estate.

ETA: corrected embarrassing typos/grammar!

Thanks for posting this.
I DO respect this particular local media. They don't allow comments on their posts about this case 'out of respect for the family'. This really helps cuts down online rumours. (Well, at a minimum it is one less place where people can spread rumours online.)

I’ve recieved a lot of personal and page related messages in regards to the press conference being held today in relation to the Esther Jones case.

I plan on live-streaming the release on my page sometime around 2PM from Dartmouth Headquarters.

Please note - this could change.

I haven’t had a chance to respond to my messages. Thanks for your understanding.

"The Southwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit has charged Dale Allen Toole, a 54-year-old Tremont, Annapolis County, man with First Degree Murder.

Ms. Jones’ remains have not yet been located and the investigation continues. The Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit is asking anyone who has information that may help with the continuing investigation to contact them at 902-825-2000."

'Police said Dale Allen Toole, 54, was tracked to Texas and deported to Canada. He was arrested Wednesday when he landed in Toronto.
The Nova Scotia man is being returned to the province and is expected in a Kentville, N.S., courtroom Monday.'
rbbm
'RCMP Cpl. Jeff MacFarlane said the accused, who is from Tremont, N.S., was not a suspect until police received key information from the Jones family and the community. Police indicated Jones and Toole have common relatives through marriage.
It’s believed the homicide took place on Aug. 31, and included “a struggle.”

'RCMP said Toole had fled Nova Scotia and was detained by American authorities at the Houston airport, as he was preparing to board a flight to Mexico.'

Unbelievable to me was 8 different scenes in 3 different counties. This poor women! This seems like it could be over a long time span, however RCMP say she was killed on Aug. 31st and it started at her studio about 4:50 ish pm.

Sometimes in these cases I find the more answers you get, the more questions you have. Many communities are hurting from this case, especially her family and I hope they can bring her home.

Wow. Seems like he was arrested none to soon, just as he was waiting to fly away to escape in Mexico

Yes, he was arrested at the airport, but I believe the US had detained him, but in the press conference, the RCMP did say or know why he was detained. Thankfully he was!!!

I remember this fact from someone posting a while back at WS, it usually takes at least 3 months even if LE strongly suspects a murderer suspect, to be able to gather enough evidence as the clock is ticking. These RCMP officers arrested this guy just shy of two weeks & were able to get the goods to go forward. They all need a big pat on the back for their work!
