hopeful that boyfriend has a sudden rembrance that leads to her safe return

BUMPING FOR JODI . Another Christmas has passed up by with no Jodi. Her family deserves to know what happened to her.

TB saw Jodi and Gavin walking along the road by the elementary school, holding hands. It was 4:30 a.m., just getting light; he remembered looking at the clock in his truck. TB had been at the party and had driven a friend home; he was keen to get home and sleep. Gavin asked him if he and Jodi could get a lift to Leroyville. TB said no; he was too tired and had business in the city later that morning.

Jodi and Gavin walked down towards Snug Cove, then up the aptly named Seven Hills on Miller Road. Close to the turnoff to Millers Landing, a young couple driving to an early ferry noticed Gavin and Jodi by the side of the road. That was at about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009.

Jodi Henrickson has not been seen since.

When the police began looking into Jodi's disappearance, interviewing kids at the party and reconstructing the evening's events, they identified Gavin Arnott as a person of interest. On Saturday, June 27, a week after she went missing, Gavin spent almost nine hours with RCMP investigators, going over his account of what happened on the night of June 19 and morning of June 20. He finally called his father Randy to come pick him up at the police station on Bowen.

"He was pretty shaken up," Randy Arnott remembered. "They'd accused him of killing her. He was asked to take a lie detector test, but the lawyer we hired recommended against taking the test, and we relied on his advice."

A few days later, in an interview with CBC, Randy Arnott said, "It feels that we're being looked at and accused, and we've been held up in our own house, not wanting to go out in public. People are looking at you, [suggesting] that your son's the bad guy, which I don't believe he is."

Also from above link - the assault that led to the RO was not the first time GA harmed Jodi - it seems he tried to choke her at a hot tub party, as well. Though, from this account, the RO incident was fairly mutual: GA insulted Jodi, she threw a motorcycle helmet at him, and then he strong-armed her out of the house.

According to GA (in above article), the reason he and Jodi fought and parted that morning was because she was demanding he get his dad's truck so they could go to Calgary.

From one of her Bowen Is friends, Jodi was a spontaneous person, so I could believe she had talked about up and leaving for Calgary impulsively - however, the fact that she was known to post daily on FB and contact her brother every day makes me think that she did not decide to go on to Calgary alone after GA said no, since she was never heard from since.

GA's night/day seems to be about like this:

  • Tried to leave the party after throwing up (and changing into fresh clothes from his truck), but was so drunk he crashed, so his friends taped him to a pole to make sure he wouldn't drive. He was punched in this event.
  • From at least 4.30am til 6.30am, he was walking with Jodi, and says he left her on the side of the road near "the Legion Hill".
  • He claims he returned to his father's house so he could work the next day, and slept for one hour.
  • At about 8.30am, he was picked up hitch hiking near "the school" and was let off at "the Orchard" (a treatment facility) where his ride worked. From there, he walked the kilometer to DH's house (where the party was), so he could retrieve his truck. He said he stayed at DH's house for about a half hour helping clean up from the party.
  • Then he says he returned to his dad's to work for the morning.
  • A bit after 11am, he attended a memorial service at the Legion hall. (He was late.)
  • Went to lunch at a pub after the service. Was spotted there "early afternoon." Went to a drugstore afterwards.
  • Stayed at DH's house that night and returned to Squamish the next day.

So, if GA did kill Jodi... where could he hide her so well between 6.30 and 8.30, presumably without a truck? Could he have gone back after getting the truck, between leaving DH at 9 and the memorial service at 11am?

Do we know for sure he didn't have access to a vehicle between 6.30 and 8.30?

Police seem to believe GA killed Jodi between 6.30 and 8.30 and hid her temporarily, went and got the truck, hid her in a more remote location (between 9 and 11), and then went to the memorial. They believe Jodi was strangled.

GA's father says GA knew how to use excavation equipment, and had access to one, but he doesn't believe it was used that night, due to the condition of the machine, etc.

ETA: FWIW, GA's father doesn't really seem like he'd straight out lie here. He seems to accept the possibility that GA did it. He might be mistaken about the equipment (or subconsciously willing himself to see no evidence), but I don't think he's lying.

Jodi's brother basically sums it all up here:

"There's this tiny possibility that Jodi's still alive somewhere. It's probably not realistic, but until there's a body we can never know for sure."

G-d bless this family.

Wow WhyaDuck - thanks for posting the link on post #12 - lots of information on there that I hadn't read about. Too bad they didn't leave him duct taped to the pole - Jodi might be with us today. It must be so frustrating for her family and police. Reminds me of a missing girl from my city - Lisa Marie Young. It is kind of obvious what happened to her - same situation with a certain guy last person seen with her - she was never seen again- no remains ever found. So sad - So wrong !!!! http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92470&highlight=lisa+marie+young
