From the link in the OP, explanation behind the nickname: "Family and friends of well-known Winnipeg drag performer Kevin Tan, who goes by the stage name Slaytana, are placing missing person posters in the downtown area. Tan has been missing and has not been heard from for several days."

I wonder why Kevin was in the hospital.

Just a regurgitation of the same article, the only thing different is the date it was published. It doesn't appear that media is interested in coming up with anything new.

He’s a queer, nonwhite person. They never are imo.

I found his Instagram and, on his own report, Kevin is HIV positive as of January 2022. Knowing that he was recently in the hospital makes me concerned for his health. That kind of diagnosis can really mess with your head plus HIV is the kind of condition that can get really serious really fast (based on personal experience).

Slaytana, you've got this. You've got everything you need. You said so yourself. ;)
Not to mention you've got lots of people who care and will be there for you.
Get to safety.

more background on Kevin from years ago. very active in the community! and oozes positivity!

I feel like a superhero. Think about it this way: when a superhero has a mundane life, they hide their superpowers, they have a pseudonym. But as soon as the world needs saving, they put on their costume, they reveal their powers, and they save the world.

Heartbreaking. What an absolutely beautiful person Kevin was, and so inspiring as Slaytana. I was really hoping for a positive resolution, they were the first thing I thought of when I woke up this morning. They seemed so loved, and their light even reached us, strangers around the world, I wish they had been able to see how cared for and missed they already were. I understand that sometimes that doesn't fix anything though. Rest in peace Slaytana.
