My brother takes off to places unknown for long periods of time and is often in areas where internet and phone connections are iffy, if at all. In fact, just this week I emailed him and said if I didn't hear something soon, I was calling the police and then he finally wrote. He's a good guy, just doesn't connect with family very often. If I weren't involved with WS, I probably would let it go even longer.

I have a brother who goes off the grid too but we have never reported him missing. He only contacts or shows when he wants to. That is just his style so we understand. I had a wellness check done on one sister as she was out of contact for far too long.

Everyone is different and unique.

Trying to find an orginazatio in Canada that would pay for Lauras posters so that the friends and public helpers can start putting them up.

so far.. Nothing..

Also maybe a list of places to post the posters (once available) would be helpful.

In my area, I see missing posters at..

1. Walmart
2. Local Bank
3. laundry mats
4. Truck stops

Missing woman’s parents buoyed at renewed police interest in her disappearance

The last sign of life was a shaggy, white dog.
Clayton and Linda Babcock arrived home last June to find their daughter’s two-year-old Maltese, Lacey, had been dropped off without warning.
Laura Babcock, 23, was last seen in Toronto on June 26, 2012. She hasn’t been heard from in almost a year.
Her last phone call, according to phone records, was to Dellen Millard, the 27-year-old Etobicoke man charged with the murder of Ancaster resident Tim Bosma.

Linda Babcock remembers Millard would come to the house to pick up her daughter — who started using the name Elle Ryan — for parties or to hang out.

But police never interviewed Millard in connection with their daughter’s disappearance, the Babcocks said. After the detective assigned to her file was reassigned, they weren’t sure what had happened to the case.

I just watched this video and I am seething in anger at the Toronto Police Force . They took absolutely NO ACTION to investigate the disappearance of this young lady despite the valuable information provided by her boyfriend.

It was absolutely disgusting for the Toronto Police investigator to say the boyfriend had no right to know her whereabouts.

I hope that the public will DEMAND that the Toronto Police investigators responsible for this inexcusable lack of are FIRED!

Tim Bosna is dead thanks to inaction by Toronto Police!

Very likely Wayne Millard is also dead as well thanks to TPS!

Me too Kevin!! Where in TO do her parents live does anyone know? Depressed daughter leaves home and goes missing and only the BF is searching and begging for help?? Unreal!!

This is the link to how we complain about their failure to both Serve and Protect LB and her BF. :facepalm:https://www.oiprd.on.ca/CMS/FAQs/Filing-A-Compliant.aspx

"It's so uncharacteristic of her," Lerner said. "For her to just escape and hide somewhere and not tell anyone, it just doesn't make sense."

This is why I don't think Laura just "ran away".. Well, perhaps in the beginning she did, but, IMO. She ran into someone that harmed her..

Queen and Roncesvalles isn't exactly the safest neighborhood for an attractive young woman to be alone at night. :twocents: Lots of prostitution, drugs, folks with mental illness.

Yes, I believe these are the "tendencies" her freinds speak of, the ones they do not want the media to speak of.

IMO.. Who cares!!! get down there with Lauras poster and post it on every corner! someone might identify her pic! What wonderful news that would be to get a call from someone in that area that say " yeah, I saw that girl yesterday". At least friends/family would know Laura is alive somewhere..

I am so angry that they keep Lauras "tendencies" a secret.. Makes no sense, if they want help, people need to know where to look.. Or atleast a logical starting point..IMO.. Ie.. Should posters be places on the doors of shelters? Would Laura go to a shelter? Should they be placed in placed prostitution takes place? Would Laura do that? Posters are expensive to print and they need to be posted in Appropriate places... Not just "anywhere"... IMO..

I wonder if St Christopher House might help print some posters and also the Centre Francophone. I'm not at all suggesting she would be involved in prostitution. I fear she may have appealed to someone who managed business in that area and was kidnapped for that reason. If we got several places to print a few hundred each, it might be easier than asking one group to pay for printing all the missing posters. I think they should be put up in all the places you mention plus near after hours clubs, Dufferin Mall etc.

I'm willing to help do whatever I can. I used to work at St Christopher house so I could ask.

Laura parents live in a very upscale area of Etobicoke next to the St. George's Golf Club. You can see her pictured and quoted in this Toronto Star article a few years ago when the Canadian Open was held at St. George's.

From what I can gather from the find Laura FB page her family were involved in trying to find her from the beginning although I get the feeling that they did not want to draw to much attention to her disappearance as it would be embarrassing to the family (just my opinion).

IMO, the only thing that can explain this, is if they did not think she was missing. If they truly believed that she was staying away from them on purpose. They might have more reason to think this then we know about. For example, what would cause her to dislike her own last name? For me though, if I thought my daughter was staying away on purpose, I would still want to try to make public appeals TO HER.

From this article it does seem like her parents think she was/is staying away on purpose.
"she simply is not ready to return home"

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2013/05/19/toronto-missing-woman-millard-connection.html

Maybe that is less painful than the worrisome alternatives but certainly this denial of alternative possibilities would decrease the impetus for the search for a missing person.

On the Help Us Find Laura facebook page, LR's aunt has offered to reimburse for printing posters.

Not sure if it was mentioned but I haven't seen it on other threads yet: even if DM isn't involved it's still a huge coincidence that he bought the incinerator within a couple weeks after Lb went missing. I hope it's only a coincidence...

At first, they understandably thought that but they were still looking I believe. I can understand not wanting to go public with lots of personal details, if they thought she was just staying away on purpose. That could embarrass Laura and make her stay away even more. With the amount of time that has gone by now, it seems they now know she might not be just staying away.
