What would be the significance of using a metal box instead of a bag? Better preservation of remains? Genuinely curious.
Ice. Just a guess.

A few things I have been thinking of...
Thank goodness they were found! The uncertainty could have gone on for years.
Some very smart WSer's said a few weeks ago that the RCMP should have requested the help of local trackers. It's too bad they didn't ask sooner, but glad they did eventually.
The York Landing sighting - I am 99.99% confident that this was not them. It is a reminder that sometimes we see what we want to see, and if they did see someone, the 2 men didn't come forward to say 'hey it was me, not the 2 fugitives'. Not everyone wants to be helpful in these situations, unfortunately.
I'm happy that others have found Websleuths and this case prompted others to join or to finally post after coming here for a long time. I have learned there are more Canadians here than I thought lol And I am even more surprised that there are even a few from my area in Saskatchewan.
I'm happy that others have learned a little bit about Canada and just how vast our Country is... as a Canadian, I have learned things that I didn't know as well and look forward to some day travelling across our big beautiful country (if we ever retire haha)
I hope the RCMP is able to piece together something that will make sense of all of this and will give the families some answers.
oh and lastly... I learned that there is such a thing as butter chicken poutine! WTH! LOL I live such a sheltered life in the prairies....
metal can be sterilized and used againIce. Just a guess.
Thanks, it's behind a paywall, I wonder if it's being reported anywhere else. If it was K&B it might imply that they had a cellphone and it was powered...One of them was Gillam’s only taxi driver, Amar Sahota, who believes he talked to one of them on the afternoon of Monday, July 22.
Mr Sahota says he knows 95 per cent of the clients who call for a cab in the town of 500 where he has worked for 13 years.
“But this man called and he didn’t use my name, he was a stranger, and he wanted a ride to (an indigenous settlement 30km north of Gillam called) Bird,” Mr Sahota told News Corp Australia.
“I told him I wouldn’t because my small car can’t go on those rough dirt roads, and he hung up on me. The next day when we heard about the boys being around here, I thought it was them. I thought I was very lucky because maybe I would have been one of their victims.”
Mr Sahota reported the encounter to a police phone hotline, but has yet to hear back.

I noticed the metal box as well. The only thing I can think is that they said The bodies were in a difficult position and they had to use a boat to get them out of the area. When bodies are removed using a body bag the body bag is on a stretcher. Perhaps they were not able to get stretchers into the area ? If you used a body bag without a stretcher it would be extremely awkward to carry. What would be the significance of using a metal box instead of a bag? Better preservation of remains? I was surprised to see separate planes. Weight or space considerations maybe? Dunno.
Keeping the evidence separated makes sense to me. I hadn’t thought of that before.I wondered that too. Space, or maybe they are ensuring that there is no possibility that evidence is contaminated - just a wild guess.
A metal box can be air sealed. It’s really hArd to fly a small plane while throwing up.I was surprised to see a metal box and not just a body bag.

LOL. Well I mean seriously! It’s like some guy pruning his suburban back yard hostas lecturing somebody on the operation of their canola farm. They’re both growing stuff, but..JuneBug, why don't you tell us how you really feel!

Having just picked up a textbook on forensic taphonomy, I'm going to suggest that it might be easier in the box to contain all the soil around the bodies as well, for examining insect activity, tissue decomposition, etc. What would be the significance of using a metal box instead of a bag? Sask must be especially sheltered, butter chicken poutine is readily available in Winnipeg.
Who says they didn't? Just because no one has told the media a local tracker worked with the RCMP doesn't mean one didn't. What we hear is a fraction of what actually happens.
New York Fries and Smoke's Poutinerie both have a butter chicken poutine. But more importantly, Smoke's has a perogie poutine.

They inadvertently gave themselves a death sentence. That’s why you should always give yourself up and get a lawyer. JMOIs there anything more known about the perps’ cause of death? After all the misery & horror they caused the victims’ families, I have to admit I’m hoping they didn’t die on their own terms by deliberate suicide.
Daily Mail this morning seems to think they died of exposure, I’m wondering if that’s conjecture or based on anything.....
How discarded sleeping bag led police to bodies of Canadian teen serial killers | Daily Mail Online
Yeah, the RCMP did a terrible job in my view. The bodies were only found because of civilians. I am breathing a huge sigh of relief that nobody else got killed, because I honestly felt more murders were only a matter of time. Let's face it, the RCMP did absolutely nothing that was effective in stopping these foolish teens. In the end they took themselves out. I'm not quite sure why folks are saying the RCMP did a great job. Why? What did they do that was great?
