Woman jailed for misleading Joly-Durocher search

A father's public cry for help to find his missing son attracted a woman so desperate for attention she made up a story that gave the family false hope during the search.

This thread caught my eye because I spent lots of summers in North Bay, Ontario and fondly recall many days at Lake Nipissing growing up. Five of my cousins and their families still live in North Bay, and I plan to visit them late this summer.

Such a sad and frustrating story. How can someone just vanish into thin air?

Thank you, dotr, for bumping this thread.

Aho using experience to help others

On Sept. 19, it will be 17 years since Melanie Ethier disappeared while walking home from a friend’s place in New Liskeard.

In October, it will be four years since Robbie Aho went missing in Marten River.

Luc Joly-Durocher has been missing for more than two years after leaving a bar in North Bay.

Their names and pictures were among more than 100 on display at an exhibit Sunday morning at the Land O’ Lakes camp here as Terry Aho – Robbie’s father – announced the formation of an organization he hopes will help the families of the missing while searching for those who have disappeared.
