Vader unwraps a bandage to show justice Thomas a bump on wrist. Claims untreated break from mistreatment in custody in 2010.

etc.

Hopefully not to many Canadians are proud of the following - if any of this is true, what are we lowering ourselves to?

He touched on "**** bombings" by other prisoners, recalled standing "buck naked" and humiliated after his arrest in 2010 and claimed guards at the Edmonton Remand Centre broke his wrist during an altercation.

Driven to the RCMP detachment in Edson, about 200 kilometres west of Edmonton, Vader was strip-searched while a video camera recorded the scene.

"The cell door to the holding cell was left open," Vader said. "Everybody could see."

Vader testified that after his arrest, he tried to meet with a lawyer, but an RCMP constable remained in the interview room with a recorder.

He's a criminal. Everything was video-taped. Were any of his legal rights violated?

Unfortunately for TV, in the life of an incarcerated criminal, there are many indignities one must face. If TV experienced abusive treatment, he can pursue it legally. He may, however, face some difficulty coming across as credible, given his extensive criminal record and his propensity to tell lies. He better have some solid witnesses willing to testify on his behalf.

IMO

The abuse inflicted upon TV is unacceptable imo and I'm glad he has the courage to talk about it.

In April 2014, Vader filed a $1-million wrongful prosecution lawsuit against more than four dozen RCMP officers, Crown prosecutors and jail guards. The lawsuit claims Vader's constitutional rights, including "the protection of his inherent human dignity, the right to privacy and the freedom from interference with fundamental personal choices," had been violated.

The alleged abuse.

O/T (but not by much imo) - how are we interviewing/finding people to fill taxpayer funded positions that require handing out newspapers to people behind bars and issuing orders on what they need to do with that paper. You can't tell me that wasn't an organized 'event'.

Denying someone in custody or in for questioning the right to a lawyer is a 'Canadian Value' now? Pathetic and will likely draw little attention imo.

Vader is such a liar. He can lie all he wants and say that his constitutional rights were violated, but it's all on the the audio recordings. His outright lies and tales of woe are getting tiresome.

RCMP made number of attempts to get Travis Vader a lawyer, audio recording reveals.

I was just going to post the article.
From the article it would appear that a RCMP member did attempt to assist TV in obtaining a lawyer. The problem appears to be that they could not locate a specific lawyer that TV requested.

With all due respect Hez - where is the audio? All that is linked here is, someone saying there is audio somewhere encouraging TV to get a lawyer.

Even I can do the above - and I'm not even a little savvy when it comes to soundbites or computers in general.

Where is the contribution that such a statement is true?

I would think you would have to be in the court room to hear the audio recordings.
Unless we are assuming the reporter is making the story up?

In a world of caution that false news is everywhere on the net - seriously? That's all you have?

Evidence produced in court is for public consumption - waiting to consume this audio. If not possible to do so - it doesn't exist.

My opinion on the source - the RCMP - and no such audio exists. Prove me wrong - I'll be OK.

So, everybody but Travis Vader is a liar. The Edmonton Journal is a trusted news source and is not 'fake news'. GMAB.

The person who tweeted that information, was actually in court listening to the audio, but I suppose they are lying too. :banghead: If you want to consume this audio recording and the other evidence produced in court, go to court and see it for yourself. Otherwise, by your lofty standards, there is no other way for anyone to ever prove you wrong. I'm done with your circular arguments.

Still no audio. The trusted/esteemed EJ can't produce this for public consumption?

And when it comes to human rights, laws and the rights of all - yeah I'm pretty lofty. I would have said steadfast - but lofty is OK by me.

No reporters are allowed to have cameras or audio recording devices with them in the courtroom, so nobody can produce any audio for you. Don't you get that? By your standards, what has been reported regarding Vader's testimony is all lies too, but of course you believe all of that without any reservations. If you want to find out for yourself exactly what is being testified to in the court, go to court and see for yourself.

Here is another reporter live-tweeting from the courtroom, but he's lying too I suppose, because that's what they are paying him for.

You are aware that this testimony was from today? Court does not start in AB until 10 am and it would be just after noon there right now even if news agencies were allowed to play the audio recordings it would not happen until the nightly news.
My suggestion is also if you believe there is a big conspiracy between the Crown, RCMP and media go and witness in person by sitting in court.

Oooooh - so you meant that the audio is yet to come. That it is evidence being put forth today.

OK - I'll wait and see if it's produced. In the meantime - surely name calling can stop? People are not obligated to agree with all that is said - pretty sure about that one.

I get that now - see above.
