A 13-year-old girl charged in connection with the stabbing of another teenage girl in Flemingdon Park on Christmas Day is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall this morning.

The stabbing took place at the Flemingdon Park Shopping Plaza on Don Mills Road, near Overlea Boulevard, at around 7 p.m. on Dec. 25.

Turns out the above stabbing was also random, stranger to stranger, kids need to be around parents more, imo.

The accused's parents are separated, he added. The mother resides in the Flemingdon Park area. The suspect primarily lives with her father.

"I don't know in terms of why (the accused) was in that area, whether she was in that area, I just know that her mother does live in that area," MacDonald said.

The plan proposed by her lawyer suggests that she be allowed to live with her father under a 7 p.m. curfew.

"Her father's looking into various ways that he can spend more time at home and be with her basically around the clock," he added.

I wonder what the altercation was about. It makes me think it wasn't just random, like the other two recent stabbings, but came as a result of whatever it was that took place. Unprovoked and stranger to stranger, but preceded by an interaction. If that makes sense.

Five teens — three girls, two boys — approached two girls who were unknown to them and there was an “unprovoked verbal altercation,” according to Toronto Police.

The victim was stabbed and suffered “severe injuries,” before the group of teens fled, said investigators.

TORONTO - A New York resident who’s accused of attacking a man with a machete near the Eaton Centre proclaimed his innocence in court Monday.
“I’m being held here as a U.S. citizen and I didn’t murder anybody or do anything wrong,” Arlington Thompson told Justice Rick Libman.
“Who’s the person pressing charges against me? I haven’t seen him yet,” he said during his court appearance at Old City Hall.
Thompson, 35, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous.

Paragon Security Vice President Ted Salter previously said that typically guards are encouraged to defer to police when armed suspects need to be apprehended but this was an exceptional case.
The suspect in the attack, identified by police as 35-year-old resident of New York, was later charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.

U.S. man pleads guilty to 3 charges in 2015 downtown Toronto machete attack

Arlington Thompson, 35, of Queens, N.Y., appeared before Madam Justice Heather McArthur in a Toronto court Monday and pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The guilty plea came on the morning a weeklong trial was set to begin.

Thompson was escorted out of court Monday while the surveillance video was shown after his lawyer, Shaunna Kelly, told the judge he has post traumatic stress disorder after being shot in 2000. Kelly said she was concerned seeing the video again would upset him and the judge granted her request.

It seems as though there are an increasing number of cases of people with schizophrenia these days, or more violence is attributed to the disease. Is there something changing in the society that could be causing this illness and are people who have it legally required to be medicated , and/or wear a medical bracelet?
speculation, imo.

Since being in jail, Thompson has been diagnosed with schizophrenia. He told medical professionals who have treated or assessed him that he was hearing voices and that he could not fully comprehend how he ended up in jail.

Thompson said he has no memory of the attack itself but has reviewed the surveillance video and confirmed he is the individual who attacked the victim and the Good Samaritan.

He will be back in court in October at which time results are expected from his psychiatric assessment and victim impact statements will be delivered.

JMO the medical community is getting better at diagnosing the illness.

Wearing a med bracelet voluntarily might be a good idea because it could help people in need, however it could also hurt them since there is so much stigma around the illness.

As far as I know the government doesn't have the ability to force anyone to take medication, nor, imo, should they.
