Aerial searches resume for 14-year-old New Brunswick girl missing since May
Aug 4 2021
''BATHURST, N.B. - Police in northern New Brunswick have resumed the search for a 14-year-old girl who has been missing for more than two months.

The Bathurst Police Force said Wednesday in a news release it had launched aerial searches with the RCMP in hopes of finding Madison Roy-Boudreau.

Police last held aerial searches for the girl on July 23, when they scanned the northeastern parts of the city.''

''In early June, residents held a neighbourhood walk in her honour. Jeannie Ferron helped organize that event and told The Canadian Press at the time she hoped the walk showed local forces that the community wouldn’t stop looking for Madison or seeking answers about her disappearance.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact them.''

''Maggie Lavigne said Tuesday in an interview that Madison Roy-Boudreau’s father, Jason Boudreau, still gets up every morning and heads out on his all-terrain vehicle to search for his daughter.

Lavigne says nobody in the family is sleeping very much, and there are a lot of tears and anguish behind closed doors.

The girl’s father reported her missing on May 11 after she left her Bathurst home for her school bus stop and didn’t come back.''

''Bathurst Police Chief Stephane Roy said last week the force had determined she’d been the victim of a homicide and her disappearance was being investigated accordingly.''

I'm trying to catch up on this case. Did they ever say what they found that made them change the status of the case? If its a homicide now then they found something that proves she is deceased right?

They did not disclose what was found, but they now believe she was murdered.

Police would not say what evidence they had found to lead them to conclude Madison was the victim of a homicide, saying only that evidence collected during air, ground and underwater searches was being processed.

Not sure if this has been posted here yet.

They are charging him because he had been ordered to not be around minors and there seem to be a few incidences of him breaching this before and after Madison's death.

Man Charged in Connection to the Investigation of Madison Roy-Boudreau Has Case Adjourned Yet Again

42-year-old Steven Laurette, of South Tetagouche, was in court on Monday, July 19th, on a charge relating to the investigation of the missing 14-year-old, Madison Roy-Boudreau.

As part of an ongoing case, Laurette is facing charges of sexual assault and sexual interference of a person under the age of 16 and is ordered to not be in the presence of a female person under the age of 18 unless accompanied by an adult who is “aware of the present investigation.”

Legal aid spoke on behalf of Laurette’s new lawyer Dustin Caissie, who is based in Dieppe, NB, saying Caissie requested an adjournment until Tuesday, August 17, 2021, when he would be in Bathurst Court for a separate matter, which the judge approved. Until then Laurette remains in custody,

According to the Northern Light, he’s expected to apply for an O’Connor Application, which requests a third party, other than the Crown or its agents, and presents relevant documents they wish to be used in court.

Madison Roy-Boudreau was last seen on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 getting into a grey Ford Ranger pickup truck, which police have seized. Police have not said if the truck belongs to Laurette because the information relates to an ongoing investigation.

Roy-Boudreau is 5’4, 119 pounds with brown eyes and medium-length brown hair. She was last seen wearing a grey sweater, a pair of camouflage pants and silver shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bathurst Police Force at 506-548-0420 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

“The RCMP is taking over an investigation into the homicide of a New Brunswick teenager who was reported missing almost a year ago…

…“We're not able to share specific information to protect the ongoing investigation, but we have reason to believe Madison was in the Middle River area after she was last seen in Bathurst on May 11 last year. This would place her in RCMP jurisdiction," explained New Brunswick RCMP Cpl. Hans Ouellette in a news release.

"We continue to work with the Bathurst Police Force to find Madison and bring answers to her family, and her community.”
