Search continues for Markham man missing since Thursday | Watch News Videos Online

Nathaniel Campbell, 44, was last seen Thursday night near Major Mackenzie and Hwy 48 in Markham. His family says it’s very out of character for the father of three to leave without a word and is hoping someone may have spotted him. Video at link.

According to the video Nathaniel was last seen near the corner of Major Mackenzie and Hwy 48 which is a hour walk from his home. I am assuming that he was seen on foot since his car was left at home. Was Nathaniel in the habit of taking long walks and did he have any reason to be in the area that he was seen in. What direction was he walking in and was he walking towards his home. Did he have his cell phone with him and has it been pinged or any evidence that he used a ride sharing service to get to the location he was seen at. The family members in the video stressed for Nathaniel to return home and weren't aware of any mental health issues with Nathaniel. Its possible he might have had some medical emergency and could be at a hospital but I am assuming they have been checked.

I haven't been able to find much more information, to be honest. Just a few news reports that basically all contain the same wording. The story was posted in a SM group to which I belong, and caught my attention because the scenario seems so odd. My first thought was to share here, with the best sleuthers, in the hope that we can help in some way. We're anticipating a Press Release from LE tomorrow. Even that seems quite odd to me ~ that it's taken this long for an official PR, given the family's depiction of it being so terribly out of character for NC to be out of contact.

Some more details in the police media release. If he had a backpack with him and was walking an hour from his home I don't have very good feelings about this. I assume his phone was left at home? Wallet? Too little information it seems.

Police, family searching for missing 44-year-old Markham man

"Hagopian said they’ve been fortunate enough to rely on the help of their community to try to locate the missing father.

“We’ve had search parties happen all day yesterday, all day the day before,” she said. “We’ve been searching the immediate neighbourhood, and searching parks and trails, we’ve also had posters put up.”

A prayer vigil was held by Campbell’s family at a nearby park Monday afternoon. Sarah said the family is hoping their positive energy will somehow get back to her brother."

Worried family, friends of missing Markham coach pray for his return

A team of 40 have since posted flyers of the 44-year-old all over the neighbourhood.

“We had a search party yesterday, Saturday and Sunday all throughout Markham searching parks, trails and ravines,” said Campbell’s sister-in-law, Kim Hagopian.

“He is not a threat but a gentle man who is very involved in the community.”

His family says it’s unlike for Campbell to go without days of speaking to his family or friends.

“This is totally out of his character, he’s never, ever done this before, never disappeared, never not been able to contact him,” his sister Sarah Campbell told Global News.

David Fewson says he’s desperate to find his good friend whom he met regularly and even vacationed to the Galapagos Islands with his and Campbell’s family.

“His wife is friends with my wife and all of our kids play together. Ours is the sort of close friendship where we see each other a couple of times a week.”

Fewson says he’s hurt and confused as he had the Campbell family over for pizza and drinks just a day before he was reported missing.

"His family says he went to their cottage up north to check on the property prior to his disappearance but did not make contact with family or friends when he returned home to Markham."

"Police say he was last seen walking with a backpack about 30 minutes away from his neighbourhood and he has not been in touch with his family.

“The last time I talked to Nathaniel was after the Raptors win. We had a big, long conversation about Kawhi and what was going to happen. This is totally out of character,” his sister Sarah Campbell told CP24 Tuesday.

“He is my older brother. I’ve known him my whole life. He has never disappeared, never been out of contact. So it is concerning.”

“It has been a very, very difficult few days. She (Campbell’s wife) is remaining hopeful for some word or some clue, anything to help locate him,” Hagopian said. “Any clue, any tip would be so helpful. Nothing is too small.”

His family says they just want to know that he is safe.

“He is loved, he is wanted. He is needed here,” his sister said. “The gate is open. Just if you are able, come back.”

A Go Fund Me page has been set up. Raised over $11K so far since started July 3. Kim Hagopian and Sarah Campbell are organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Casandra Bryant.

Nathaniel Campbell is a wonderful husband, and father to 3 young children. He is also an active member of the community including the Markham Soccer Club.
Nathaniel went missing on Thursday, June 27th and the York Region Police have an active investigation to help find him. We are all praying for his safe return to his family who miss and love him.
Both Nathaniel and his wife Casandra are self-employed and not salaried. Given the current situation, unfortunately, there is no ongoing employment income coming in.
So many people have offered their support, love, and prayers which we are enormously grateful for. Some have asked about offering financial help. At this time, financial support would be extremely helpful and welcomed.
Thank you for your continued prayers for Nathaniel, Casandra and their children.

Nathaniel has been missing for 10 days now but nothing new to report. I noticed that he was self employed so maybe his business was having financial difficulty and he decided to walk away from the situation. I noticed in one news report that LE sated that some people have come forward with information but didn't specify if it was in regards to his last known location or specific to Nathan. Was Nathan's last known location a result of an eyewitness or CCTV video. No mention if Nathan had a cell phone with him and if so has it been tracked.

Nathaniel's car, wallet, and cellphone were all left at his home.

I am very surprised by the lack of information released on this. Is this normal? We were told that he was seen at a corner gas/Tim Hortons at 48/Major Mackenzie, but no word on whether that was before or after he dropped his car at home.
Also, no more searches have been planned? Is this normal too?
I know Nathaniel Campbell personally and he is a very calm, gentle man. He loves to talk about youth soccer and throw the baseball around with his kids. He just isn't someone that you'd ever expect any kind of drama with.

His wife and the 3 children were at their daughters soccer practice until about 8pm on the day he disappeared-- there is no word on whether they saw him come home from the cottage before they left for soccer (assuming that he indeed went to the cottage that day).
If he did go to the cottage, it is in Minden. The drive back would take him down Highway 48. What did he see along that Hwy 48 drive that would have him begin walking back north on 48? (again, if indeed the presumption is that he was last seen walking at 48/Major Mackenzie.)
Also, if he had a backpack, what was in it? Not his wallet, keys or cellphone, this we know.

"Campbell's wife is completely devastated," Fewson said.

"I am shocked," he said. "This is entirely inconsistent with the wonderful father of three I know."

Campbell is described as white, five-feet, 10-inches tall, weighing 230 lb, with a stocky build. He is balding at the back of his head and has black hair and brown eyes. He has a brown mole under his left eye, and was last seen wearing grey jeans, a backpack and a baseball cap.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the York Regional Police No. 5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7541, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be left anonymously online at www.1800222tips.com."

I find it unusual that there's been not much focus on this. It suggests to me they think he walked away from his situation and it's not foul play. But without a cell phone, wallet, etc. that doesn't leave too many options.
