I just hope the enormity of his very long sentence is sinking in tonight.

Fingers crossed its a life sentence with no parole for a minimum of 25 years.

Hope he is never paroled. Die in jail AM or Who??

I hope other internet doowackles are sobored by his example. He may have dreamed of glory in martyrdom, he's going get decades of pacing in a little concrete room, just him and his toilet.

O/T but not really as it may be of interest.

If you go to Correction Services Canada, on the right hand side of the page, towards the bottom is a portal to view the various levels of 'accommodation' given to prisoners.

Sentencing has been put over until May 31st.

Judge is awaiting ruling from the Supreme Court on 'consecutive sentencing'.

Sure hope he CAN have consecutive sentences.

Global news and others.

*Anyone know how I can get rid of these italics now?? LOL

Court to wait longer to sentence van attacker Alek Minassian | CP24.com
''The court says Minassian will next appear in court on April 5.

The prosecution in the Minassian case previously told court the victims and their families also want to be able to read their victim impact statements in person, which has not been possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While Minassian was found guilty of 10 first-degree murders, another victim, Amaresh Tesfamariam, died a few months ago from injuries sustained in the attack years prior.

Tesfamariam was paralyzed from the neck down and never left hospital after being hit by Minassian.

Toronto police, the coroner and Tesfamariam's family consider her death to be a homicide.''

“'Her life was beautiful, then the attack happened': Family of beloved nurse killed in van attack speaks

Amaresh Tesfamariam wasn't expected to survive more than a few months, but she was determined to live

Amaresh Tesfamariam worked as a registered practical nurse at Fudger House, a long-term care facility operated by the City of Toronto. (Submitted by Haben Tesfamariam )
Amaresh Tesfamariam's heart stopped beating several times over the past three and a half years.

There were numerous "code blues," too many for her family to remember, with staff rushing to bring her back to life at the hospitals she stayed at ever since becoming one of 26 people run down in Toronto's horrific van attack.

But Tesfamariam returned again and again to her bedridden life. Each time she had to relearn how to speak through a ventilator valve, a process made difficult by her paralysis from the neck down.

Yet she kept smiling, her family said, and even filled the room with a booming laugh when she could.”

What a painful loss of a bright, lovely person.

Toronto van attack victim speaks on fourth anniversary of the tragedy | CP24.com
''Last Updated Saturday, April 23, 2022 9:09AM EDT
Cathy Riddell wants to move on, but the justice system has kept her stuck in time.

She hopes other victims of crime don't have to endure what she and more than a dozen other survivors -- and numerous grieving relatives -- of the worst attack in Toronto's history have gone through.

It's been four years since Riddell was attacked by a man who, angered by women who wouldn't sleep with him and radicalized in the bowels of the internet, deliberately drove a rented van down a busy Toronto sidewalk.''

Yet the criminal case stretches on.

"Nowhere along the line is there any true consideration of victims," Riddell said in a recent interview. "We just don't matter."

The 71-year-old is one of 26 victims of the tragedy on Yonge Street on April 23, 2018. Ten people -- eight women and two men -- died that day. Two other women who were struck by the man the victims refuse to name died a few years later. Many others were catastrophically injured.''

''June 13 2022
Survivors and families of victims in Toronto's deadly van attack are set to give statements in court today as a sentencing hearing in the case gets underway.

Eight women and two men died on April 23, 2018 when a 25-year-old man bent on infamy, angered by women who wouldn’t sleep with him and radicalized in the bowels of the internet deliberately drove a rented van down a busy sidewalk.

Another woman died more than three years later from injuries suffered that day.

The sentencing hearing for Alek Minassian could last multiple days as it will hear from several dozen people affected by the attack.''

Sadly, their words, grief and despair will not change the sentence handed to this mass murderer.

The most he can get is 25 years without parole. MOO, IMO

''BREAKING UPDATE:

TORONTO - The man responsible for Toronto's deadly 2018 van attack has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.

Alek Minassian has also been sentenced to 20 years for 15 counts of attempted murder, which are to be served concurrently.

He was found guilty last year of 10 counts of first-degree murder and 16 counts of attempted murder.''

He will only be 54 yrs old when released. SMH

I don’t think he’ll ever be released, imo.

I looked back at his father’s testimony. He said his son never showed remorse for his crime and was looking forward to the trial to prove ‘he didn’t do anything wrong’.

He even asked his father if his family was impacted by what he did.

Poor guy was, instead, found guilty.

Suck it up, Buttercup.
