Lawyer’s killer fled west before dumping pickup on Dundas
Dec 22 2020 rbbm.

''Police now say they have a lot of surveillance video of the rented U-Haul pickup as it fled from the murder of area lawyer Scott Andrew Rosen late Friday. After the driver of the vehicle drove into Rosen on the garage ramp at 234 Eglinton he may have headed south down Brownlow Ave opposite the building. From there he found his way west, possibly along Davisville Ave. and Chaplin Cres. The truck was found empty near the corner of Bathurst and Dundas Sts. There’s no known motive for the slaying of Mr. Rosen, who carried on a practice in commercial litigation at the address. It’s a field that can generate anger and resentment.''

.....
This afternoon, police confirmed that a a suspect was arrested at a home in Toronto at around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Anh Thu Chiem, of Toronto, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Rosen's death. She appeared at the College Park courthouse via video link earlier today.

Lioumanis said they were able to track down a suspect after speaking to witnesses and reviewing video surveillance footage from the area where the incident took place.

Police said Rosen and Chiem were known to one another and Lioumanis said at this point, investigators believe they had some type of business relationship that was connected to his job as a commercial litigator.
....

Quite the surprise, shocking really!
Woman charged in 'targeted' murder of Toronto lawyer at midtown parking garage: police
''Investigators have not yet stated any possible motive for the deadly incident.

“We will look at everything, we will look at any current or past dealings that he may have had,” Lioumanis told reporters on Monday.''

''Police are continuing to appeal for more information and are still working to determine if anyone else may have been involved in the murder.

Anyone with further details in asked to contact investigators at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).''

She was likely easy to find.

Once they had the van, simply ask businesses to give you their videos and follow her home.

This may be another, 'yes I did it but I need an NCR result' AND which lawyer will truly want to help her??

Maybe they might even try to blame it on poor driving skills?
speculation.

Woman charged with murder after Toronto lawyer struck and killed by U-Haul in Midtown parking garage
''An Ontario Superior Court filing dated Jan. 10, 2019 indicates that a lawyer named Scott A. Rosen represented the son-in-law of a defendant by the name of Anh Chiem in a family property dispute. While police have not confirmed if the victim and the accused are the same people referenced in that court document, Toronto police spokesperson Caroline de Kloet told CP24 that investigators have said the two were involved "in litigation dealings."

Officers are still working to determine if anyone else may have been involved in the homicide, Lioumanis said.''

Colleagues pay tribute to lawyer after Toronto woman charged with first-degree murder in hit-and-run
''A Toronto lawyer is being remembered as a highly ethical and skilled litigator as police Wednesday announced they have charged a 62-year-old woman with first-degree murder in his hit-and-run death.''

Woman charged in connection with Toronto lawyer’s murder was defendant in lawsuit he worked on
''Representatives for Castleform argued there was an oral agreement to develop land in Etobicoke owned by Chiem’s mother, Chau Chiem. But Voong, Chiem and her mother disagreed over the terms agreed upon.

On Jan. 10, 2019, a judge ordered that Anh and Chau each pay Castleform Development $37,000 and dismissed a countersuit. The judge called it “an unfortunate matter that has the undertones of a failing family relationship.”

Global News also learned that this was not the first time Rosen was targeted. Police in 53 division investigated an incident a few years ago when a woman attacked him by throwing acid on him. An arrest was never made after that incident.

Sources told Global News that investigators believe Rosen was being stalked for a number of days prior to the hit-and-run homicide.''

IDK, in this case she seems to have had a grudge about money that IMO the law would see as a "rational" motive: quotation marks because why blame the lawyer for a family dispute settled by a judge, and why care so much about money that you would kill someone, and then why risk going to jail for a good part of your remaining years...but common enough.

Yes and pure spite and malice to take the life of the lawyer who represented her son-in law in the family feud involving the construction of two houses.

I also doubt this case would pose a successful NCR defenc. Allegedly awaiting in the parkade for SR to leave work, then fleeing indicates a precalculated attack including the mental capacity to know the difference between right and wrong considering she fled the scene.

Just a totally senseless tragedy impacting the lives of many.

The tire iron that landed on the boardroom floor of Neha Chugh’s law office in Cornwall, Ont., got her thinking about safety. But she got serious this past week after the murder of a Toronto legal receptionist at her downtown workplace.

Looking back on her 10 years of practice, Chugh can recall being threatened by clients and witnesses, “and brushing it off, trying to appear tough.”

Anh Chiem refused bail.

She wanted to get bail until her trial but has been refused.

She cried at the prospect of spending more time at the Vanier Centre for Women.

Mr Rosen was hit with a flipping U Haul truck - Chiem should cry for -

MANDEL: Woman accused of killing lawyer with rental truck denied bail | Toronto Sun
''A tiny woman with long dark hair touched with gray, Chiem wept from the video room at the Vanier Centre for Women as a Vietnamese interpreter translated Superior Court Justice Wailan Low’s ruling. The judge’s reasons are covered by a publication ban as is evidence in the case.''

''At the time of the slaying, Toronto Police said they believed Rosen was targeted and the driver of a U-Haul truck was waiting for him in the underground after he finished work that day. When officers arrived at the scene at about 5:30 p.m., they found the lawyer lying on the ground with massive injuries.''

Wonder how much crying she’ll do when the find her guilty and ship her off to Joliette, north of Montreal, for an extended time.

She’s a poster child for bringing back hanging, IMO.

Thanks for the link dotr.
