I'm so worried about Shelley. There are so many unsolved cases out of London. We have individual threads on some of these cases but maybe we should create threads for all the missing and unsolved cases here and delve further into them. I am getting Lee Mellor's book soon as I think some cases might be in his book and didn't Michael Arntfield penn a book documenting cases out of London?

Here is a thread listing some London cases in case anyone wants to do some digging.http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...ung-people-in-London-Ontario-in-the-1960s-70s

I would assume they expected her to access her bank acct Jan 29th because of a government deposit.

Glad at least they have released a missing persons report now. Somebody must have seen something, like her getting into a vehicle.

I thought London was safe! Ugh

I'm guessing it was OW. Which, if you're eligible for it, you NEED it. If she were able, she almost definitely would have accessed her account after that deposit went in. :(

I agree, this does not look good at all and if it is foul play the perp is still out there roaming the city preying on other victims. I hope LE are giving this enough attention.

As her birthday passes and hope fades, the family and friends of missing Shelley Desrochers are confronting the sad truth her lifestyle might have led her to the same tragic end it has for so many other women.
They are wondering as well about the safety of the rest of the 200 or so women who work on London’s streets selling sex.
“It’s hard to believe that the most dangerous areas in London aren’t monitored closely. Shelley was at risk for her safety,” a family member, who asked not to be named, said Friday. “She is a person, regardless of her behaviour and lifestyle.”
Police have to turn their minds now to the possibility more women are at risk, the family member said.
“The issue is not that Shelley lived a high-risk lifestyle. The issue now is the possibility someone is out there who has committed a very serious crime. That should be the focus instead of how she lived her life.”

Shelley Joy Desrochers, 42

  • white, 5’ 2”, 141 pounds, medium build
  • long, straight, light brown hair and hazel eyes
  • distinctive walk, with one foot pointed inward
  • last seen in the area of Ernest and Bradley avenues about 2 p.m. on Jan. 2.
  • last seen in the area of Hamilton Road and Rectory Street about 10 a.m. Jan 5
Anyone with information is asked to call London police at 519-661-5670

One thing is for certain is that her loved ones are NOT giving up in finding Shelley.

I think the tendency here as well is to think that maybe she just ran away. Clearly that did not happen here, unless she was helped by someone because she would not have the financial ability. From all accounts the likelihood of her doing that is extremely low - she just would not have done that to her family/friends.

So.. she has to be somewhere. People don't just vanish into thin air. I'm not sure I agree with the harsh criticism of London police, but I do agree that this would be treated completely differently if she were a teacher, with a husband and kids.

Bottom line - my prediction is that a man took her - and that she is still within at least a 100 km radius of London. In addition to asking for tips - ask the public to look at their neighbors and whether they have seen anything suspicious.

Given the circumstances of the untouched bank account and her birthday passing with no word, I am wondering if any searches will be arranged. I would absolutely assist

I think it is a mistake of LE not to release any details. They must know whether she had her purse/cell phone with her etc. Where are the details? It's like they just want this case to go away.

Okay, because there is absolutely nothing to go on here... and because I really want to help find this woman, I am going to start speculating.

Two other women of similar stature to Shelley have gone missing in the past 6 years or so - Patricia Bordato and Vanessa Fotheringham.

Let's say these cases are connected.

If you do some digging about Patricia Bordato, you find that the police raided a townhouse.

http://www.theobserver.ca/2010/02/2...uly-may-have-been-spotted-in-london-townhouse

Rivera said her neighbour didn't reveal much about himself but was friendly and helpful, sharing the chore of shoveling the walkway and inviting her family to dinner, though they didn't accept, she said.

Rivera said he always kept his curtains drawn and it appeared there were no lights on inside.

When he was home he was quite noisy Ñ it often sounded as if he had a workshop and was building or repairing things, she said.

His nephew lived with him only during the summer, she said.

Kevin appeared to be in his late 40s, had white hair and was of average height and build, she said.

London police wouldn't say who lived in the townhouse or if there was a connection to Bordato, a 43-year-old described as white, 5'4" and 141 lbs, brown eyes, long brown hair and with a tattoo of a female symbol on her left hand between the index finger and thumb.

This creeps me out a lot.

Do more digging and you will find a post on another unsolved site from Patricia's son who tells the back story on why they raided that townhouse.

I am not really sure what I am saying here other than it feels like they dropped the ball on Patricia, and these cases could be connected.

I was reading through the timeline of Robert Pickton the other night. Unbelievable how many chances LE had to catch him. I hope that has not happened here.

Wow. Thank you for sharing this. I am highly concerned because I'm a Londoner who has followed missing persons cases for many years and this is the first time I have heard of Patricia Bordato

This is what gets me.

Kathy Bordato is described as a caucasian woman, with long brown hair and brown eyes. She is 5'4" and approximately 110 pounds.

http://www.lfpress.com/news/london/2010/02/20/12960721.html

Vanessa Fotheringham (1987-7-15) is described as:

Female white
5'3"(160 cm)
110 lbs (50kg)
long brown hair
brown eyes

http://www.police.london.ca/d.aspx?s=/Newsroom/Fotheringham_Details.htm

Shelley Desrochers is described as female, white, 5'2" (157 cm), 141 lbs (64kg), of medium build, with long straight light brown hair.

I guess it could be a coincidence. I guess.

I agree Juli99 that there appears to Be a serial predator(s) in London. Kathy's thread is here on websleuths and so is Vanessa's. Lisa Leckie's case hasn't been solved either and there are other unsolved cases from that area. I wonder if someone could make a map for us and pinpoint the missing and unsolved like Lisa's.

Here is Kathy's thread.http://www.websleuths.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-265934.html

I'm part of a local FB group and a friend of her was asking about Shelley. I told her about WS so hopefully she will take a peak and maybe join as an insider. There was a rumour that Shelley was spotted in kitchener however the friend doesn't believe it.

Thank you.. I had not heard of Lisa Leckie's case. I think a map is a great idea and getting insiders here as well would help.

I am originally from London and live not far away ... I drove through the city yesterday and through the intersection where Shelley was last seen. I just wish there was something I could do.

I am sure there will be lots of sightings of her, but until any are verified I am doubtful. She would have accessed her bank account.

100% agree.

I did some reading up on Lisa Leckie, it sounds like LE probably knows who did it (someone known to her) but they can't prove it. It is pretty unsettling that there are all these unsolved missing/murders in the city.

rbbm.
The missing women all seem to be petite, if indeed there is some kind of a perp. targeting them, could it because he is either not strong, or large and a smaller woman, easier to handle?
speculation, imo.

This is the thread for Kathryn P. Bordato.
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...yn-Patricia-Bordato-43-London-ON-14-July-2009

When I told my husband about these women, he said "Oh, so my friend so-and-so is a kidnapper." In other words, his friend only dates petite women with long hair. My suspicion was that it was something like this, if there is a perp, that he preferred a particular "type" of woman.
