Or they just slept through it.

Agree. The van is likely not a vehicle that would make a lot noise (no loud exhaust, etc). And if someone else was on property at the time the perp would have been aware of that and acted quietly. Also, it's not like the location (blue investigative tent) is right next to buildings(home?) so quite possible someone could've slept through whatever may have taken place.

Awwww, just watched the "Terry & Hailey" video and am certain she's his daughter. They obviously had a very strong bond and happy times together.

It looks like the blue tent is visible to two home; perhaps 30-40M from each, and within easy hearing distance. Additionally, many rural people keep a dog for security. There are several houses in the area, but no dogs alerted to activity on the property in the middle of the night?

The "if you really love her" comment that was attributed to two different relatives (still not sure if they both said it or that was just an error in reporting) really troubles me. Obviously someone assumed they KNEW who had her. Did they assume wrongly?

Since CD and TB shared custody, there wouldn't be any reason for CD to have someone take Hailey - as she was supposed to be headed back to mommy's anyway.

Sure. How many of us assumed Tara was hiding Tori Stafford from her Dad?

Well I'm more inclined to believe no one was at the property at the time. If otherwise, you'd think the perp would've gone elsewhere. The perp was already in the "bush" being at the property so if the perp had reason to believe someone was on the property I would think the perp would've just gone deeper into the "bush", certainly further than 30-40 metres away. Maybe grab the supplies necessary and head deeper into the bush....??

Or another theory I don't think has been brought up: because the body didn't SEEM (we don't really know) to be very well hidden could it be that the perp was trying to put blame (frame) on another person? (Maybe whomever that property does belong to? Or who frequents that property?)

But really I'm thinking the perps panic level was through the roof and shoddy work on his behalf....too bad he didn't just panic right from start and never follow through.

Just opinions.

I agree on "disorganized" murder.

Doesn't sound like the plans to trade HD off from TB to CD were cut and dry. Leave many questions in my mind. Confusion or confrontation? MOO.

She was supposed to have been dropped off at her mother Cheyenne Dunbar’s Edmonton home Sunday, said the tot’s grandfather.

“She was supposed to show up yesterday, it was Terry’s turn to drop Hailey off,” Kevin Dunbar said Monday of the little girl's deceased father.

“All he did was ask me how I was and tell me updates on how my daughter was — we were making plans so that I could pick her up again,” she said.

In the interview with reporters CD said, "Last time I saw Hailey was actually not that long ago, I was just making arrangements to go pick her up again".

Maybe they met somewhere to drop off/pick up? So technically he would be dropping her off and she would be picking her up.

Thought I remember reading somewhere that this property belonged to a family member. Can anyone find that link? If that was the case, it would make sense in that DS was familiar with the property. Maybe he knew nobody would be there. If there was a dog, it may not bark if it knew DS.

Theory on not what happened, but why:
Biological or not multiple individuals (at least 2, maybe more) were led to believe they were the father to HDB. This would certainly create animosity between these individuals....kind of makes me think of a Jerry Springer episode.

Am I correct in thinking that Terry's father lived in the same house? If so, was he away at the time of the murders? I read somewhere that he helped take care of Hailey.

No he didn't. Read that it said he would come over and take care of her.

If motive was paternity, why in the world couldn't that have been solved 2 1/2 years ago ? And why would he kill his own child if he thought she was his? Sorry but I'm not buying the paternity theory.

With odds of one in ten, and lacking a motive for a brutal, apparently personal act against a father inexplicably defending himself for distancing his child from what he described was a "drug addicted pedofile", it is not an unreasonable angle to investigate before building a case against an:
1) accused male rival
2) who appears to be a drug addict
3) was friends (and reportedly more) with the mother
4) around the time of conception
5) who is accused a passionate-styled attack against the father
6) and abducted the child.

"It's now widely accepted among those who work in genetics that roughly 10 per cent of us are not fathered by the man we believe to be dad."

Yes the property is owned by Saretzky family member.

"RCMP investigators have set up a forensic trailer at an acreage in the hills north of Blairmore and have erected a tent over an area where it is believed the little girl's remains were found.
CTV News talked to a relative of the accused who confirmed that the property is owned by a family member."

A very odd thing to say. The sister IMO knew exactly who was in custody at that point in time, its a small town after all. So who would "honestly love" Hailey? Certainly she wasn't speaking to DS as he was already in custody. Who did DS know that would "Honestly love" Hailey?

And hold on to this thought.

10 percent of samples sent in for testing but 10 percent of the entire population?

My thoughts only...

CD and DS were never involved... ever. The comment from the relative that said "if you love her bring her back" (paraphrased)... made everyone think that CD had the baby and had someone take her from Terry. So, when the perp's name was revealed, everyone (including MSM) assumed that CD had a romantic relationship with the perp.

Just MOO

Oh my.... this could definitely cast a shadow on CD in a subliminal way. Jmo, but how bright are those media lights? Bright enough to cast a shadow?

With just a thought first set in..... That train of thought how the light grows dim.

And hold on to this thought.

"It is my belief, Watson, founded upon my experience, that the lowest and vilest alleys in London do not present a more dreadful record of sin than does the smiling and beautiful countryside" - Sherlock Holmes

I read somewhere that the property belonged to <modsnip> ? And that it was a cabin type property... Not sure I can find the specific article, but I do remember reading that.
If that is the case, he likely knew that no one would be out there

If this is his relative's place, he'd have time to wait for an opportunity at privacy, or could've baited them to run an errand. There was a lot of time to work with; and waiting time may have played a role in the child's death.
