Kimberley Black was assaulted while jogging in Whitby on the evening of July 28
''Durham Regional Police said officers located her around 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday near a creek southeast of of Taunton Rd. E. and Anderson St. after she was reported missing the night before after going for a walk in the area.''

''McBride described Black as an advocate for women’s personal development and growth and explained she is a graduate student completing a MA in Education and founder of Intro by Videos, which helps clients seeking employment develop video communication skills.''

''Anyone with information can contact Durham Regional Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca.''

WARMINGTON: Who tried to kill Kimmy? | Toronto Sun
''Whoever beat Kimberley Black to within an inch of her life and left her to die in Whitby on Tuesday is still unknown and free.
For now.''

''Nothing is off the table in this investigation. Nothing.''

“The person who did this to her was not expecting her to live,” said her cousin Naomi McBride. “Someone tried to murder her.”

But who? A random person? Someone with a grudge?''

''One problem is that Black is on life-support, said McBride, adding she is “unconscious” just like she was when police found her at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday in a creek near Taunton and Thickson Rds. McBride said police have “canvassed” the area for information and video. She said they have also been communicating with Black’s devastated husband Rob and son Chase, who are at St. Michael’s Hospital with her.''

''Understanding police don’t want to scare the community until they are satisfied there is a predator at large, McBride said “until the police say otherwise, I say approach it as a random attack.”

Missing woman found critically injured near Whitby creek may have been attacked by stranger: police
Aug 1 2020
''In an update on Saturday, Durham police confirmed that officers are continuing to canvass the community to find any possible witnesses along with video surveillance footage from nearby houses and businesses.

"At this point in the investigation, no arrests have been made and efforts continue to determine the nature of the assault and the person responsible," police said in a media release sent out on Saturday morning

"Investigators have not ruled out the possibility of this being a random attack by a stranger."

''Police say investigators have received "multiple media inquiries" about a possible link to a missing Ontario Shores patient from Oshawa.

"At this time, there is no information that connects him to this incident," the news release read. "His whereabouts are unknown and it is believed he may have left the region."

''Speaking to CP24 on Saturday morning, police confirmed that members of the homicide unit have taken over the investigation due to the "unusual" nature of the case.

Police are urging people to "remain vigilant" when it comes to personal safety, encouraging residents to walk or jog with a friend and try to stay on well-lit main streets.''

Cops rule out missing outpatient in violent attack on Whitby woman | Toronto Sun
''Durham Regional Police are advising walkers and joggers to exercise in pairs in well lit areas after a violent assault on a Whitby woman while ruling out an Ontario Shores outreach patient as a possible suspect.''

''Police say there is no information connecting an outreach patient from the Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences in Oshawa — who has been missing since July 27 — to the attack. It’s believed the outreach patient may have left the region.''

Family of 50-year-old woman attacked in Whitby appeals for witnesses
"It was surreal. How do you believe this was actually Kim?" McBride told CTV News Toronto on Sunday.

"I can't see anybody holding a grudge against Kim to hurt her to this extent. She's just too kind of a person to have someone to do this to her."

McBride noted that her cousin's vital signs are stabilizing, and she is getting better every day.

"What I do know is that it's going to be an extensive, long, challenging recovery," she said, adding that she has not been able to visit Black due to COVID-19 restrictions.''

"The individual who did this to her was not expecting for her to survive. Her will and her determination have superseded his actions against her," McBride said.

"She's a fighter. She's a survivor, and she's determined to be here."

''She is appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward to help in the investigation.

"They either saw an odd individual, or they saw Kim running, and they're not aware of it yet, and they have really important information," McBride said.''

Video was just posted on the 680 news site of a POI. Guy seems dressed a bit oddly. Very distinctive walk and he was following her. I’ll go back and find it. I think this guy will be ID’d fairly quickly.

Thanks Tealgrove1!!
''The video released Tuesday (attached above) shows a person of interest walking westbound on Taunton Road near Anderson Street between 8:50 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on July 28, following the female victim.

The unknown male is about 150 feet behind the woman and keeps pace with her as she walks westbound on the sidewalk.

The person of interest is described as a male with medium build, wearing a white t-shirt with dark sleeves, loose fitting shorts with a dark horizontal stripe down the side and dark socks and shoes.

Police say several vehicles drove by in both directions at the time and are asking for any drivers with dash cam footage to come forward.

Any witnesses can speak to police at a command post set up at 4240 Anderson Street in Whitby.

The victim remains in hospital in critical condition.''

WARMINGTON: Cops release clue in gutless attack on 'Kimmy' | Toronto Sun
''It’s grainy video which has not allowed police to determine race, skin colour or even if the man had facial hair. Police don’t know whether this is the man who beat the 50-year-old married mother to within an inch of her life.

But they do know this.

“He was following her,” said Const. George Tudos.''

“He is a person of interest,” said Tudos.''

''Nothing has been ruled out in this bizarre case of a businesswoman who was left for dead in a creek near the intersection of Taunton and Thickson Rds. She was not discovered for about 12 hours after her husband and son reported her missing.

The first thing police want is more information on the man. Where was he in the hours before this ambush? Is there more video out there containing additional evidence?''

''A command post has been set up on Anderson St. where he was following her.''

WARMINGTON: Family says arrest made in Whitby jogger's violent attack | Toronto Sun
''People close to Kimberley Black say police have told them an arrest has been made in the attempted murder of the woman who was out for a jog when she was attacked and left for dead two weeks ago in Whitby.

While Durham Regional Police have not confirmed the arrest, they have put out a news release indicating they will be holding an outdoor press conference Friday morning to provide an update on the investigation into the assault of the Whitby woman who was found with life-threatening injuries on July 29.''

''She was unconscious and received major injuries to her face and other parts of her body and family believe the attacker’s intention was for her to die there. She was reported missing by her husband, award-winning musician Rob Tardik, and her son Chase from a previous marriage about 12 hours before she was found.''
