Judge sentences Charles Merritt to LWOP for murder of Joseph McStay, and to death for the first degree murders with special circumstances of Summer, Joseph Jr and Gianni McStay.
Small suit does not like to lose.
He's redundant now anyway. New lawyers will take over. It's not good for business, having a lost death-penalty case on one's CV. He has to make out it happened through a very unfortunate triad of crooked prosecutors/law enforcement, biased judge and gullible jury. He knows with the gymnastics he had to perform on the defense case that Merritt is indeed guilty.Small suit does not like to lose.
Why, during trial, did he not take the stand on his own behalf and roundly protest his innocence down to the ground. Being guilty probably had something to do with that --Why does the killer get to speak?
That strikes me as truly insane.
Cali procedure, never change
Same here, had an appointment in "town" so my whole day was shot, grrrrr!Missed all of this today.
Any videos up of today's proceedings?
Any pressers afterwards with attorneys or families?
Been searching and come up dry.
Have you checked Law and Crime Network for videos? Or maybe Channel 8 San Diego? I'll look in a bit and see.Same here, had an appointment in "town" so my whole day was shot, grrrrr!
Yes, it's there - scroll down a bit.Have you checked Law and Crime Network for videos? Or maybe Channel 8 San Diego? I'll look in a bit and see.
CM has to go through an "evaluation" process before he goes to Death Row. I don't know Cali DOC, but it usually runs 30, 45, or 60 days for the evaluation. So when does death row get its newest resident? Hope they ship him off tonight.
I looked it up and Scott Peterson was shipped off the day after sentencing. Hopefully Merritt is deprived of his own family sooner rather than later. Fair is fair.CM has to go through an "evaluation" process before he goes to Death Row. I don't know Cali DOC, but it usually runs 30, 45, or 60 days for the evaluation.
CM no doubt is on suicide watch as of now.
