I'm sure this has been answered, but even if there were 5 Walmart stores there, she claims she bought and returned the gas can to the same store. Her receipt shows where it was purchased, so that's the one that was checked.

I also read an earlier post that suggested that in 2008 there was only 1 Walmart in Salinas. I would think if the defense could prove that she returned the gas can to another Walmart anywhere in the US they would have done so when the Walmart person testified for the prosecution Not to say that Nurmi couldn't just throw that possibility out there in his closing to try to cause doubt.

Public Defenders office is not the prosecution, but I agree that order appears strange on its face. She hasn't been paid?

Yes, and sorry, I meant the defense. Seems weird a court order is required though.

Has anyone put together clips of the parts of Martinez's closing that got a head shake, a "no, I didn't", a chuckle, eye roll, a smile or some other response/reaction from Jodi? I'd love to see them one after another just to get an idea of what she reacts to.

Just saw the clip where she reacted to when he mentioned her sleeping under the Christmas tree.

She stopped doodling and went all bobble head when JM denied all the pedo claims.

I believe that it should be a requirement of testifying in the court system, I simply don't understand the concept of presenting to the jury an "expert" without some type of criteria such as a report!!! Also, I firmly believe that ALV perjured herself and therefore Juan, without DT objections, called her a liar.

BBM
I agree! I think there was far more going on in chambers with ALV than we know about. Any decent lawyer would object to their witness being called a liar, unless there is a reason he felt he couldn't!

Did Jodi actually say she returned the gas can TO THE SAME WALMART? (I am aware there are posts saying there was only one Walmart in Salinas until 2010.) But, Nurmi objected TWICE yesterday when Juan stated she said the "SAME STORE". He's got something up his sleeve, me thinks.:banghead:

I don't want Nurmi to be able to refute a single word of Juan's closing. It would look bad to the jury. TIA

The Prosecutor should play this in final closing, has her direct, cross and jury question testimony on gas cans

After hearing what Skye Hughes said about Travis being afraid to totally get JA out of his life because she had threatened to kill herself, I now believe that is why JA had the gun. I think she held the gun to her head when they were in the bathroom and Travis was sitting in the shower. Maybe Travis did jump up and "lunge" at her to stop her and that's when she brought out the hidden knife. All more of her evil manipulation.

Neesake, to me that makes the most sense. I only wish Skye could have testified to JA's manipulation of Travis through the use of threatened suicide.

Absolutely agree! I don't think an expert can testify here without having first submitted a report to both sides. And then the DT trying to prevent the prosecution from access to ALV's notes as well?!??

There are those who have said this DT are good lawyers, they have a horrible case to work with, etc. If that's true it still doesn't give them a free pass to knowingly put liars as witnesses on the stand, which they did IMO.

When rewatching some of the juror questions when JA was on the stand, one of the questions was about the number of times she had attempted suicide (paraphrasing the question). JA herself said that she had only attempted once, with the razor, the rest of the times were only ideation. Big word there for someone who just likes to use it as a manipulation tool imho. Then Dr. D mentioned the amount of ideation in the journals etc that showed that JA used suicide as a manipulation tool to get her way. Again, paraphrashing there but what I got out of the whole thing. So you could be dead on with the final moments of TA's life. The picture of him sitting in the shower, he seems so resigned. Could it have been the moment he realized that he couldn't be held hostage to the 'suicide' issue anymore?

Is it just me or was anyone else confused by JM jumping from "she brought the gun" right into "she stole the gun from Travis" if there is anyone on the jury hunting for an excuse to acquit or convict of a lesser offense I am afraid they could use that. I am so nervous she is going to walk.

I think he was trying to demonstrate that with either scenario she committed a crime that was covered under 1st degree murder. He was trying to drive it home that there is no other option but 1st degree muder.

I'll be at work today. But, will stream from AZ Central as long as my connection is good. It is normally, but then I get busy!

Anywhoo.... for all those saying not sure they can watch Nurmi, I betcha you will. ;)
This is the finale, we all have to participate, no?

:juanettes: :juanettes: :juanettes:

Betcha you are right! Peeps just can't look away. If they say they won't watch - :liar: :giggle:

Exactly, I do think that Dr D and JM were able to show that the 'FOG' she was in was a lie. The level of 'higher thinking' required to delete pictures, clean up the scene, stage the scene etc etc etc would never have happened in a fog or 'fight/flight' response. She would have no ability to do so. The brain is telling the body to leave or if in fight mode pushes all thinking towards the muscles and response to the event. Not for critical thinking on how to make sure you aren't caught. Two different issues imho.

Somehow despite the fog JA knew to clean her bloody hands before handling the Clorox bottle. Just one of the fab zingers JM offered yesterday. So much for JA's claim that she "woke up" in the desert with bloody hands she then cleaned using the Costco water.

I must admit that I am getting nervous. I remember the CA trial and we were on verdict watch. My father looked at me and said "she will not be found guilty" In my mind I was saying "STFU Dad." Sure enough he called it. :stormingmad:

It gives me some hope that he has NOT said anything like that about this trial.

Jurors do your job and do right by the Alexander family :please:

Well, that was the highlight of Einstein's brilliantly constructed Unified Theory of Defense. Musta left out some of them there plus signs or somethin'.

Morning Everyone!!! I kept hoping Juan would make us all take a 62 second moment of silence so we could imagine what Travis went through. Either that or counting out the stab wounds. Can't get over how brilliant he is!

:seeya: I like this idea ... maybe he will do this when he finishes his Closing [after dt does Closing].

We have to. We've watched it all.. We have to see it through to the end. I've got Twizzlers you've got the Cheetos.. right?

Yep, I've got the Cheetos! Will you share the Twizzlers? I've had a craving since whoever brought them the first time.

That will come today. Remember, Juan gets the last word. Without jury instruction gobbling up time, Nurmi will have his piece. Then Juan will wrap it ALL up. Masterfully.

If ever there were a man for the job, it's Juan Martinez.

You don't need to be nervous about that. Juan was simply saying that under either scenario, Arias committed felony murder because she a) brought the gun, which proves premeditation or, b) according to her own story, she stole the gun from Travis's house after she killed him, which means that she committed a murder in the course of committing another felony, which is also murder 1.

That was brilliant on JM's part, explaining it like that to the jury. There's no way that jury can come back with anything less than a M1 guilty decision now.

Guys, I really should clean a bit and get something done on my day off. But I can't seem to move from here.

I loved that. It was something that had never crossed my mind. That man is beyond brilliant.
