In Session “Blum agrees the head injury could have occurred when the head comes into contact with a surface, with enough force . . . the doctors all say it could be stellar, up, down . . . Kathy had thick hair. Look at that photo; she’s got thick hair.”

"She would've talked to anyone who listened" Lopez says, then mentions something barred by judge. Sidebar

Judge tells jurors to disregard Lopez' last comment

atty Lopez says none of the state's witnesses have explained how Savio got bruises. "It was the bathtub."

"You know how a water balloon falls and boom it explodes...the same thing with a head" [ wth?]

BBM. Does he realize his words border on ridiculous? I wonder, is the DT trying to now become incompetent so Drew can get a retrial due to the Harry Smith mistake?

Because this is a really odd closing from the DT, imo.

Lopez comparing testimony from pathologists, talks about Savio's "thick hair" in regards to what it would look like in fall...

Lopez asks judge how he's doing on time. Judge says Lopez has another hour left to argue.

Lopez says you don't see blood all over the place in the bathroom because she hit her head, fell under the water and drowned...

"We don't know if she was conscious or unconscious when she fell", refers to "slippery when wet" caution sign...

People slip and have household accidents all the time."

"They want to make it a murder that she slipped and fell"

I still think DP will walk.

I don't think I would be able to find someone guilty based on hearsay.

So if the jury comes back with a not guilty verdict, I will not be mad.

going by the law, I would have to find him not guilty.

"About 300 people a year die in a bathtub" Lopez says

[ the vast majority are little children and the remainder are drunk, stoned or very ill...]

Lopez: Experts can't agree on cause of Savio's death. That raises bar of reasonable doubt, he says. ..

Lopez: "This case is nothing but reasonable doubt."

Lopez: "We put Harry Smith on the stand!.we didn't hide him, did he say some things that hurt us, yes but we didn't hide it.."

"What evidence do you have that #DrewPeterson murdered his wife? None."

atty Lopez refers to Baden autopsy as "autopsy gone wild" in apparent wink to barred Girls Gone Wild reference.

Lopez tells the jury #DrewPeterson and Kathleen Savio didn't live on Wisteria Lane.

prosecutor Glasgow objects when Lopez tells jurors he "used to love watching" King of the Hill on Sunday ...

[Iin the last few minutes, Lopez has referenced Girls Gone Wild, Wisteria Lane and King of the Hill.]

Lopez talks about Savio argument on phone w/Steve and Steve said she "was a basket case"

Lopez reminds jurors that, according to testimony, no dogs barked and nothing usual was seen/heard on night Savio died.

atty Lopez asks jurors why a used condom was found upstairs in Savio's home if she and her boyfriend had sex downstairs Friday..

.[ maybe because your client moved it there himself..?]

BBM. Interesting, how does Lopez know the death occured at night?

Are all closing this odd?

it is no coincidence that DP chose that night, he was waiting for the stars to align and that was an inexperienced homicide detective, and probably a shift that was the weakest of them all. MOO

to add to that point....DP lived in that house, lived in that neighborhood so the DOGS wouldn't bark because they are familiar with his smell and stuff.

Geez, I can't believe the judge has gone this long without leaving the bench.

In Session ‏@InSession
Lopez: "You know why Drew didn’t go in there? I’ll tell you why. It’s a divorce case; it’s a bifurcated divorce."

The above only makes sense if Drew is a civilian. he was a cop. He knew the proper procedure for a well being check and that would be calling other LEO, not the neighbors.

As far as the washing of the clothes go, I have an opinion as to why he washed them. First of all, he could not leave them at the scene for obvious reasons. Secondly, HE KNEW Stacy had been calling him on his cell, which tells DP she is AWAKE and his plan has gone off the tracks a bit due to her being awake.

He certainly did not have time to just dump them in the trash to be discovered. He HAD to wash them and put them away and hope SP did not find these clothes until he has ample time to dispose of them.

SP foiled all of that. IMO, this is what happened.

:rocker: BBM: I think you "nailed it" here ! Makes sense IMO !

:seeya:

That blonde on InSession is spot on. Basically she stated how condescending the Defense has been throughout the trial about women.

Lopez continues "The reason Drew didn't go into (Savio) house..he would've violated court order" giving home solely to Savio...

Time for the defense to hang it up, imo.

Violating an order of protection, saying he did not go into the house because divorce court granted her the house, oh puhlease.

Hang it up, dp. Done. over. your closing stinks. I'm surprised the jury isn't snoring yet, it's that bad, imo.

to add to that point....DP lived in that house, lived in that neighborhood so the DOGS wouldn't bark because they are familiar with his smell and stuff.

I always believed that myself. Hope there are some Dog owners on the Jury. Kinda goes against DP. It wasn't some random killer on the loose who got in the House without breaking in and killed Kathleen. No rape. No robbery. Nope just some random killer on a rampage:crazy: I'm actually surprised DP didn't frame Stacy for it.

Sorry but i found that hysterical. Drew wouldn't enter the House as he legally couldn't :floorlaugh:

In Session ‎"...you’re basically just a bunch of strangers, and we throw you in a room and you bond with each other. The United States of America is the only place where you have a jury system. It’s been going on for centuries . . . the only place in the world where you have people determine your fate . . . the standard is ‘beyond a reasonable doubt.’ It’s not ‘are you kidding me?’ but ‘beyond a reasonable doubt.’ And you took an oath not to hold it against Drew Peterson that he didn’t testify . . . you are not to consider that in any way when you consider your verdict. If you do that, you’re turning your back on the American flag, and violating your oath. Trials are kind of like Monopoly games; there’s rules you have to follow . . . a trial has rules, and nobody can cheat. And you have to follow the judge’s instructions.”

BBM

Sorry, a bazillion things going on here that need me! Pardon me if this is has already been pointed out, but there ARE other countries in the world that have jury trials! England, Canada, Australia... just to name the first off the top of my head. Jeeze!

I believe DP initial plan was to frame SP, but once her disappearance made headline and the cards played out, he couldn't do it. Remember at the time SP went missing, KS was still not looked at as a homicide. If SP missing was only a local media blip, and the state looked into KS death again...then I believe DP was going to use SP as a defense that she killed KS and took off.

Edit to add: I bet he planned on putting KS washed clothes into SP dresser drawer...of course DP adapted as he went like most murderers do.

This is a long hour and a half! I have not seen much substance out of Lopez that would cause me to abandon my common sense and believe his spin.
