I have nurse friends here (Denver) who smoke weed. One even works at the children’s hospital. Some have mentioned they aren’t drug tested/employers don’t care about MJ. Not sure how true, but they all still have jobs...

Also I haven’t seen anything in the media about Adam being missing...how sad.

I quickly read through the thread and saw Adam told his Lyft driver he was being “harassed” ....from someone who’s been to Charlie’s a bunch with gay men ...some people are persistent. Last time I was there this guy followed around my gay guy friend like a lost puppy. Every where we turned he was there. We went outside, he was there, etc etc. He might have just meant something to this extent ...like some guy wouldn’t leave him alone.

On the MJ issue, based on what a couple of people here have said, the issue of MJ use is based on individual hospital policy. I've seen one comment, from GoJacks, who said he has friends who use and are not tested but I've also read comments from Colorado nurses on Reddit who said they have been made to sign agreements to observe Federal law, which still outlaws MJ and that they agree not to use. Other Colo nurses have also stated that they are randomly drug screened.

Another user in this thread has stated that an employer cannot control what you do in your off-time but I also noticed this person is located in Europe and may not be aware of American employment law. American employers can, in fact, dictate what you do in your off-time. Drug use of any sort that comes to the attention of your employer can be cause for termination, some employers can and have terminated people for using tobacco. Many states are what's called "at will employment" states, that means that your employer can fire you at any time for any reason or no reason (provided the termination has nothing to do with you being a member of a protected class but so long as they don't say they are firing you for being a woman, disabled, minority, etc they can still fire you for no cause).

There is another layer of scrutiny for nurses, not just in Colo but in the rest of the 50 states and that is the Board of Nursing (BON). The BON in all states have rules of ethics that strictly state that a nurse will NOT use illegal drugs (meaning drugs that considered illegal at the federal level). Use of any controlled substance that has not been prescribed by a licensed physician can result in suspension or revocation of your nursing license. The BON takes these things VERY seriously because of a nurse's access to controlled substances, many a nurse has lost his or her license for abuse or drug diversion.

I hope that clears up the issue of nursing and MJ use in states that have legal MJ.

Another thought...
Adam telling the Lyft driver he was harassed could have just been an excuse, knowing the driver would be questioned and knowing that he was going to leave and didn't not want to be found. I mean had he truely felt uncomfortable would he have gone home then gone back out to another bar? Also him saying "I love you guys...." (I really do) makes it sound like he is not blaming anyone and wanted to make it clear.

As someone who lives in Denver: regardless of whether he smokes or not, and whether RNs get drug tested or not (hospital specific, but regardless of state law his employer definitely could drug test if they wished to. It's probable he had a pre-employment drug test and then after would only be teste "for cause", but some hospitals(/employers) do random drugs tests on their employees): I can tell you that weed has NOTHING to do with this.

He is a nurse so I doubt he was smoking weed. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but i believe they still do random drug screens on health care personnel in CO.

(O/T, I have to agree that I know a ton of nurses here too who smoke weed, and was going to mention this as well in response to the above poster. Not that this necessarily means Adam did or has anything to do with his case.

FTR I doubt he doubt he would be out weed hunting, as anyone can just walk into a store and buy it, (Praise the Lord lol) .)

You're not going to see this on the news. This isn't a pretty little white girl or teen honors student. It's an adult gay man. For all the progress we've made society still doesn't care when a man goes missing, a gay man they care even less about. This is the same problem with the police, they simply don't care. I wouldn't be surprised if they make a statement in the next week or so that they've determined Adam left "on his own." That's a nice, even handed way for LE to wash their hands of it and move on to something more important, like a missing girl.

I don't know, we are pretty liberal up here. For PRIDE there was all kinds of LE and security as it was after the Orlando Shooting, and from what I heard they were quite wonderful with the participants.

I hear ya, but I'm not ready to make that assumption yet.

When a woman goes missing, particularly a young, attractive white woman with no lifestyle “issues”. The assumption is that she is the victim of either intimate partner homicide or a sexual predator. This arouses public interest and concern and becomes a leading story in the local media and will often go national.

When a man goes missing the leading c

Looks like The Triangle Denver had a private party on the 14th and had a reopening on the 15th.

5.0 star rating 12/15/2017
Reopening today! I attended their private party last night and this place is amazing. Beautiful lounge/club/bar/restaurant/coffee shop/patio/rooftop. This place has it all and no experience was spared. The food is phenomenal, and they will be serving fresh and tasty takes on bar food. The craft cocktails were perfection, and only $8 each! Would be the perfect spot for a first date! Still a LGBT spot and such a welcome addition to Denver.
I believe these are the hours,
Coffee shop: 7am-(?)
Bar/Restaurant: 11am-2am

Oh my gosh - from his family:

"The video he posted on his social media had red walls behind him. This was before we knew where he was. We were able to follow his trail by finding pictures and locating the Syntax by their red walls and found him on surveillance. We thank God he posted that video or we may have not known he was there. ... He is on surveillance making the video."

I wish all families were this savvy, wow! My heart goes out to his family, who ware obviously doing all they can to bring Adam home!

I agree. I am not sure what Colorado Corps do with 420 use unless they do business across state line or get federal funding. Hope it is a non tolerance. I hope they find him. I agree Charlies is an interesting bar. Russell Haythorn of 7 News reported they had the most crimes of any gay bar in 2017. I hope they find him alive and well.

A big :welcome::welcome: to all of the locals joining! Thanks for chiming in, we appreciate your perspectives!

This is what keeps me up at night. It seems that people care less about missing gay/lesbian/trans people. I fear that Adam has turned into an empty statistic.

I feel such sorrow daily just thinking about this. If this were a blonde hair blue eyes girl then this case would be everywhere.

I have to say that I am sorely disappointed in the turn of this discussion thread. I joined to add my LE perspective in hopes of helping find Adam. Unfortunately, half of the postings today have been about marijuana use, which has ZERO to do with the purpose of finding Adam. Regardless of your political and social beliefs, I hope that we can get back on track. I implore posters to keep discussions about RELEVANT topics surrounding Adam's disappearance, not conjecture or political rants or whether or not he could legally smoke weed. Come on folks!

 I’ve been quietly following and waiting for positive updates. I’m down in the Springs (approx. 70 miles south of where Adam lives). I saw on his Ig he was down here on September 30th at the Olympic Training Center but as unlikely as it could be that he travelled down here, my eyes are peeled. I hope his family gets good news soon. So many times we form theories that aren’t in favor of the victim and so often we’re wrong. I hope Adam just took a breather somewhere and will turn up to hug his mom on Christmas.

Greyhound and other carriers (train, air services) require photo ID to book even with cash payment. I’m certain all carriers have been checked by DPD for his possible travel via these carriers. RTD doesn’t run at 1:00 am. So that is not plausible. Public transport would be cab or ride service. All which have turned up nothing bases on what we know.
Why would you need to have an ID to board a greyhound bus? A plane, yes.
But a bus?

Are people allowed to hang out in the waiting rooms there? Maybe he went home, took a nap got up early and walked to the station. I wonder if he still has friends in Fort Collins?

Do people hitchhike anymore?

I live in the area where Adam went missing and want to provide some insight to a few things:

11:47 - Lyft drops Adam off at his car at the Casey 2100 Delgany

12:38 - 12:53am Adam is at Syntax.

The drive from the Casey to his apartment would have taken less than 20 minutes. The walk from his apartment to Syntax would have been less than 10 minutes. This would align with the timeline of getting dropped off by Lyft and then arriving at syntax from their security cameras. I don’t believe he drove directly to Syntax from when the Lyft dropped him off nor would he have driven from his apartment after. We walk all the time to bars on Broadway so walking would be typical for the location of his apartment to Syntax. It wasn’t terribly cold the night he went missing and his Arcteryx jacket and beanie would have been plenty warm.

Adams apartment is just down the street from where I live. There is a front door and a side entrance. The side entrance is behind a fenced gate in a duplex with other neighbors. I was surprised to hear the door was unlocked until I drove by and paid closer attention. The side entrance is secluded behind the gate and if I lived here I too wouldn’t worry too much about leaving it unlocked for a short time.

I do think it’s really strange he walked across broadway after leaving Syntax. (Opposite direction of his apartment). The Wendy’s closes early on Thursday nights and he would have seen it dark when he left Syntax as they turn down the lights when they close. The parking lot there is empty and dark at night (most of it is an old Kmart that went out of business). I question what would cause him to go into this darkish empty parking lot at 1am? There’s not much there late at night. Did someone text to meet him there? Maybe even on an app like scruff or Grindr. Would apps like that share the messages with investigators?

There are train tracks on the end of the lot. There’s openings in the fence- it wouldn’t be hard to access the tracks or cross if he really wanted. Getting to the south plate river would be much more difficult as you would have to cross I-25. It’s snowing now. I hope they find him soon.
