Judge rules in favor of the prosecution in Los Sauces preliminary hearing

Aug 6, 2021

7f7a438c9ba0dd5ab988884cee591a03.png

Defendants in the Los Sauces case including from top left to bottom right - Francisco Ramirez, Adre Baroz CJ Dominguez and Julius Baroz took part in a two part preliminary hearing on Wednesday and Thursday.

ALAMOSA – An intense, two-day combined preliminary hearing in the case simply known as “Los Sauces” has ended with presiding Chief Judge Michael Gonzalez ruling Special Prosecutor Fred Johnson presented sufficient evidence to uphold all counts filed against the four defendants involved.

That ruling binds the case over to district court where, barring any plea deals, the defendants will ultimately stand trial related to their respective roles in the assault, murder, dismemberment, and disposal of five people in the San Luis Valley.

[..]

The case is enormous.

It involves the murder of five people, all of which took place at different times over the course of roughly two months and involves at least four different locations spread out over two counties, contains more than 50,000 pages of documents with more likely to be included, lengthy statements from two confidential informants plus statements – both direct and indirect – from at least a dozen individuals, lengthy interviews conducted by the Alamosa Police Department, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, multiple search warrants, collection of multiple pieces of evidence including parts of bones, analysis from a specially trained forensic anthropologist and a forensic odontologist. And, as the investigation is ongoing, there is likely more to come.

Only three witnesses took the stand during the hearing – a major crimes investigator with the Alamosa Police Department and two agents with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

[..]

The purpose of a preliminary hearing, which is held in open court in front of an unbiased judge, is to determine whether there is sufficient probable cause to believe the defendant or defendants committed the crime(s) that are alleged in the arrest warrants. The prosecution will call witnesses and introduce evidence, and the defense can cross-examine witnesses. But the defense cannot call witnesses or object to using certain evidence. In fact, evidence is allowed to be presented at a preliminary hearing that may not be shown to a jury in a trial.

[..]

Adre Baroz is formally charged with a total of 13 felonies, including five counts of murder in the first degree related to the deaths of Korina Arroyo, Selena Esquibel, Myron Martinez, Zeven Garcia and Shayla Hammill.

Julius Baroz is formally charged with, among other felonies, one count of murder in the first degree.

Francisco Ramirez is formally charged with, among other felonies, tampering with evidence and three counts of accessory to a crime.

In the case of CJ Dominguez, he is formally charged with tampering with evidence. However, Special Prosecutor Johnson indicated that additional charges of murder may be filed against Dominguez as the investigation in his involvement is ongoing.

Now I'm wondering.... should I combine them ALL in one - maybe Adre's I will just combine all the victims into one section instead of how I have them now.

Okay - if I combine all of the charges for Adre - I come up with 18 charges & the article says 13 counts are been charged against him.
@Seattle1 - do you know of a link where his charges are all laid out? Here's what I come up with:
with 4 counts of 1st degree murder (Myron, Shayla, Xavier & Korina), 1 count of 1st degree murder after deliberation (Selena), 1 count of 2nd degree murder (Selena), 1 count of 2nd degree kidnapping (Selena), 2 counts of crime of violence (possession of deadly weapon) (Selena), 1 count of 2nd degree assault causing injury with a deadly weapon (Selena), 1 count of 3rd degree aggravated intimidation of a witness or victim (Selena), 5 counts of tampering with remains of a deceased human, 1 count of tampering with physical evidence (Selena) & 1 count of 1st degree assault.

Missing woman case turns into a homicide investigation after a secret grave was found in Colorado

8/24/2021

ALAMOSA, Colo. (KKTV) - The remains of a missing woman were found in a clandestine grave in a remote part of Colorado.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) provided an update on the case surrounding Cheyenne Goins. She would have turned 22 in just a month. Goins was reported missing on Aug. 12 and her remains were found on Saturday in a remote part of Alamosa County near Highways 160 and 150. Her death was ruled a homicide by the El Paso County Coroner. Authorities are not releasing the manner of her death as it is considered a key component of the investigation.

Lucas Salas Jr. of Alamosa was considered a person of interest in the case, but he was killed during an officer-involved shooting in Northglenn on Aug. 18.

I don't know if there's any evidence that the late LS was a soldier of Adre & Co. but I think most believe that he's still pulling chains from behind bars. MOO
