What an idiot. It's frightening how a person can want someone dead so badly, they get completely sloppy and reckless. Desperate.

Poor lady didn't have a chance.
And it’s frightening that by all accounts, and IMO, she was a lovely person and his wife that he supposedly loved, and the mother of his children, but he wanted her dead so badly… he is a monster.

AURORA, Colo — The Aurora dentist who is accused of killing his wife by poisoning her with cyanide appeared in court Tuesday afternoon but did not enter a plea because his attorneys argued they needed more time to look over the vast amount of evidence in the case.

James Craig appeared in court at 3 p.m. Tuesday for an arraignment, a hearing where defendants typically plead guilty or not guilty to the charges against them. James Craig is charged with first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence related to the March death of his wife 43-year-old Angela Craig.

Arapahoe County District Judge Shay Whitaker granted the defense request for a continuance, and his arraignment was reset for 4 p.m. Oct. 9.

The Aurora dentist accused of poisoning his wife will not enter a plea in his murder case until early October.

James Craig, dressed in an orange jail jumpsuit, listened as his attorneys argued that they would not be ready for the arraignment, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, because they still had 2,000 pages of discovery to comb through.

John Kellner, the 18th judicial district attorney, objected to the postponement, saying Angela Pray Craig's siblings "want to continue without delay."

Craig's sister and two brothers listened to the hearing on WebEx, as did her husband's relatives.

The couple's six children deferred their opinion on the postponement to both parties, according to their attorney.

Craig is expected to enter a plea Oct. 9 in Arapahoe County Court.

Prior to Angela's death, James Craig's online search history raised suspicions. Searches for phrases such as "is arsenic detectable in an autopsy" and "how to make murder look like a heart attack" were discovered in his digital footprint, painting a disturbing picture of premeditation. This online activity, coupled with Angela's symptoms mirroring the effects of poisoning, led investigators to believe that foul play was afoot.

As Angela Craig fought for her life in the hospital, James Craig was allegedly engaging in an affair with Karin Cain, an orthodontist from Texas. Cain revealed in an interview with "Good Morning America" that James had falsely claimed to be in the process of divorcing Angela and no longer living with her. This revelation highlighted the extent of James Craig's deceitful behavior and the lengths he was willing to go to pursue his affair.

Angela Craig's health rapidly deteriorated during her hospital stay, with symptoms including vertigo, shaking, and cold lips. Despite medical efforts, her condition worsened, and she was declared brain-dead after suffering a seizure on March 15. Life support was eventually withdrawn, leading to her passing three days later. The investigation took a critical turn when James Craig's business partner and friend, Ryan Redfearn, informed the police about a suspicious package of potassium cyanide delivered to their dental practice. Further scrutiny revealed that James had made multiple orders for various poisonous substances, including arsenic and oleandrin.

Investigators delved into James Craig's financial struggles, revealing he was heavily in debt and on the brink of bankruptcy. It is believed that his precarious financial situation served as a motive for the alleged murder plot. Desperate to escape his financial woes and pursue a new life with his mistress, James Craig resorted to a chilling and calculated act of poisoning, leaving behind a trail of devastation

Angela Craig died of poisoning from cyanide and tetrahydrozoline, Arapahoe County coroner Kelly Lear ruled at the time. Her widower was arrested the day after for what Aurora, Colo. police termed a “heinous, complex and calculated” killing. Tetrahydrozoline is found in over-the-counter eyedrops.

While James Craig’s defense attorneys maintained in a hearing that there was no direct evidence proving he had laced his wife’s protein shakes with poison, his online purchase orders for the substances that killed her were irrefutable. He routinely made her protein shakes as well, investigators established.

His defense attorneys said Craig’s online searches were his attempts to find ways to commit suicide, something he had tried to do in the past. In the end, though, he was not the one with the symptoms.

Doctors did indeed find a cause of death elusive at first. But then Craig’s dental practice partner, Ryan Redfearn, told police that their shared office had received a rush delivery of potassium cyanide, with Craig claiming that he needed it for an upcoming surgery. Redfearn said it was not in fact necessary for their work. Craig also ordered the toxic plant extract oleandrin, but police intercepted that one.

While he was researching ways to make poison undetectable, she was googling her symptoms: vertigo, shaking, cold lips and intense headaches, for starters.

The defense attorneys suggested that Craig, who had previously attempted suicide, had been searching online for ways to kill himself. The case's lead investigator, Bobbie Olson, acknowledged at the preliminary hearing that testing didn't find any sign of cyanide or arsenic in two bottles used for shakes.

Investigators allege that Craig, who routinely made protein shakes for his wife, tried poising her shake on March 6 with arsenic. After she survived, Craig ordered a rush shipment of potassium cyanide that he told the supplier was needed for a surgery, according to court documents.

The arrest affidavit said that the investigation into Craig started after his dental practice partner mentioned to a nurse that Craig had ordered potassium cyanide even though they didn't need it for their work.

Police claim Craig was seeing another woman as his wife was being treated in the hospital. But the woman told ABC's GMA she didn't willingly have a relationship with someone who was married.
