You cannot benefit from murdering someone through life insurance. I have worked on cases where a child has murdered their parent. A petition to restrain 3rd parties from distributing to the accused may have been filed in Angela's probate. I am in IL and that is what we did in those instances. Puts the insurance companies on notice not to pay claims and if they do pay claims it directs those funds be given to the court's escrow account to be held until the criminal proceeding has been adjudicated.

Agree. Also, if there was a life insurance policy in place for the decedent, I expect we'll soon learn of a complaint filed in US District Court, Denver (Federal Court) by the Underwriter of the policy, seeking the Court's intervention for distribution, and the petitioner's request to hold the funds pending the outcome of the charges against the defendant -- especially if he was the beneficiary. We saw this very recently in another Colorado murder case. JMO

An Aurora dentist is facing a murder charge after police found evidence that he fatally poisoned his wife last Wednesday evening, according to Aurora Police.

James Craig, 45, was arrested early Sunday morning on a first-degree murder charge. Craig practices at Summerbrook Dental Group in Aurora, according to their website.

Police said Craig drove his wife to the hospital around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday because she was complaining of severe headaches and dizziness. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, her condition deteriorated rapidly. She was put on a ventilator in the ICU, police said. She was declared medically brain dead a short time later.

Homicide detectives investigated the woman's death and found evidence that she was poisoned, police said. A warrant for Craig was obtained early Sunday morning, shortly after doctors took the victim off life support.

3/23/23 Update: Craig was formally charged with 1st degree premeditated murder. The defense asked for all notes taken by law enforcement to be preserved, which the court granted. During the brief hearing the judge deferred a defense request to put a temporary gag order on Aurora Police Dept. Deputy Public Defender, Katie Telfer, raised the motion objecting to statements made in Aurora PD’s Chief in a press release on Craig’s arrest which, she said, were tantamount to a ‘presumption of guilt.’ In it Aurora Police Division Chief Mark Hildebrand described Angela’s death as, ‘a heinous, complex & calculated murder.’ Craig spoke only briefly during this morning’s hearing, which lasted barely ten minutes, as he confirmed that he was waiving his right to a preliminary hearing within a 35-day period. The court will make a ruling on the gag motion at that status conference hearing which has been set for 4/7/23 @ 8:30am. The Arapahoe District Court just denied expanded media coverage (EMC) on April 7 for defendant James Craig, DDS, citing how the Court previously allowed media coverage on March 23, 2023, and despite setting very clear parameters for that coverage, several rules were violated such a recording & disseminating audio from the hearing on that date. No cameras will be in the courtroom per the Judge. He said the press violated conditions at the last hearing.
4/7/23 Update: Critical toxicology from Angela's autopsy will be done by the end of the month. During Friday's afternoon hearing, the two sides discussed upcoming evidentiary testing, the defense making sure their experts can be present for & the prosecution assuring they would provide notice of when those tests would happen. Judge Shay Whitaker warned the defense "not to impede the timing of those tests." Judge Whitaker was asked by the defense to instill a gag order, but she denied the request with the stipulation that attorneys & investigators should stay within ethical bounds when they speak with the press. Next status conference hearing on 5/22/23 @ 4:30pm. Per the court site, the hearing was only a status conference and there were no tweets from local MSM. At best, seems the PH was pushed out a month to 7/12.

Yes - it could be the toxicology reports. They were supposed to be done by end of April - guess they weren't.

I watched the hearing. It was delayed at the request of the defense. They said they needed more time. I'm not sure if the channel is approved, but if you go to YT and search james craig status conference, you can watch it.

Craig asked doctors not to perform an autopsy, explaining that if they couldn’t find out what was wrong with her when she was alive, he didn’t want medical staff poking her more after she was dead, the affidavit said.
