Bernice Abeyta doesn't know what happened to her 7-month-old.

"It's very hard to go on year after year," she said.

Christopher vanished 29 years ago. Abeyta now clings to a photograph of what he might look like today.

"When I first saw this one, I just felt close to it," Abeyta said. "I just felt that's how he would look. ... Twenty-nine years is a long time and you're getting older and you know you're facing death, so you get a little more desperate."

The back and forth accusations over a missing baby boy will come to a head Thursday. The family of Christopher Abeyta will be back in court battling a lawsuit filed against them. A woman filed a lawsuit against Christopher's family because they accused her of being a suspect.

Today, the lawyers will have one last chance in their closing statements. There's been no coverage of this trial until now.

I haven't figured out how to link articles from the phone yet, but the Abeyta family lost the lawsuit and were ordered to pay the mistress $150,000.

The link JerseyGirl posted has been updated.

Thursday afternoon, a jury has ruled in favor of a woman who claims she was damaged by the accusations of the family of a missing boy. Emma Bradshaw filed against the Abeyta family for defamation of character, invasion of privacy and interfering with her employment.

The jury agreed Thursday to her claims, awarding her more than $150,000 in damages. The Abeytas had filed a counter claim and the jury ruled against that.

I hope I don't get flamed for this but I have to admit I've been disturbed by the public bashing of Bradshaw by the family. Unless I am forgetting something, I don't think there was any concrete evidence. I can't say I disagree with the court's decision.

That being said, I hope Christopher comes home some day, and I hope they have the best detectives on the case who won't give up. The family must be in so much pain.

Thank you all for your interest in my brother's case. The lawsuit that was filed by Emma Bradshaw was initially filed against my family and 100 facebook users. The 100 facebook users fell off the case since EB never named them, and she dismissed my parents off the case 3 days before trial. In her lawsuit she was asking for over a million dollars. The jury found that none of the facebook posts or website information was defamatory. We were disappointed that the jury awarded EB $155K economic damages as part of her claim that there was intentional interference on a contract and $1 for one comment they found defamatory in an email. Christopher's case is an ACTIVE investigation.

KKTV11 NEWS: "The jury found that there was one defamatory statement and it did not relate to the Facebook posts," Rick Bednarski said. "It was a statement that was in the email letter to Mr. Spicer. ... That was the only statement that was defamatory. They gave her a $1 nominal damage on that."The second aspect which is obviously the one that we’re very disappointed about is on the intentional interference on a contract. They found that Denise’s intent when sending that letter was to interfere with her employment contract and then because she lost her job, they awarded her economic damages of $155,000.” The jury sided with the Abeyta family over Facebook posts Christopher's sister, Denise Alves, made about Bradshaw.

The lawsuit filed was for over a million dollars and initially included 100 facebook users, which EB never named and they fell off the suit.

This Saturday will be Christopher's 30th birthday.

http://fox21news.com/2015/11/25/search-for-son-continues-30-years-later/

Christopher Abeyta disappeared from his Colorado Springs home when he was just 7 months old. Saturday will be his 30th birthday, but he won’t be home to celebrate.

Earlier this month that person took them to court and sued for defamation of character and lost wages. Still Abeyta’s family said they won’t give up.

“It has gone on too long. It is ridiculous to go 30 years on a missing child when you have the information before you,” said Gil Abeyta, Christopher’s father. “I’m bitter after 30 years. I’m frustrated.”

I'm so sorry Den. My dad passed from terminal Leukemia. I don't know why this happened to your mom and family when you've paid the "ultimate price" with your brother going missing.

Please have your mom do DNA in the genealogy databases, there are many adoptees doing it and finding their family. It's possible Christopher has done it too. I ordered one at Ancestry Sunday, it was on sale plus coupon code. I'd be glad to give you the link that you'd need, once she does the test, you can also upload to a few free databases too.

Praying for a miracle that Christopher is found. ~Hugs

Mother running out of time to find her son - By Abbie Burke Published: May 23, 2016, 9:03 pm Updated: May 23, 2016, 9:14 pm

Just a few weeks ago Bernice was diagnosed with a rare terminal cancer of the biliary tract, cholangiocarcinoma.

“We were in shock, just it was unexpected,” said Bernice’s daughter, Denise Alves.

Bernice was told she had just six to eight months to live.

“Everybody has to die. There are babies that get cancer. There’s little children that get cancer. I’m 73 years old,” said Bernice.

Bernice said the news gave her a new perspective on her life.

“I’ve been angry about Christopher. I’ve been angry and that’s why I forgot the very happy life we had before, happy life after,” she said. “And I started thinking, wow, it was a good life. It was one very very horrible, horrendous thing that happened to us, horrendous.”

Still, she wants answers and her son back.

“I feel he’s out there. I’ve been talking to him more lately and we’re going to tape something for him in case I’m not here when he comes back,” Bernice said.

And she wants those that know what happened to finally come forward.

JMO, but I do believe this baby was abducted by the fatal attraction woman, at least she didn't kill the parents or other family members. I do get a Jodi Arias vibe about her though. I hope and pray that Christopher is found some day soon, but considering she was a scorned, vindictive woman, then add mentally unstable to the mix, there's no telling what she did. :( Jmo

Just reading up on Christopher's case. What is this about the Colorado Springs PD destroying evidence in the case? Why on earth would they do that, accidentally? Still, how?

INTERESTING per this article Det. Larry Buckallew was running for Sheriff in the year Christopher was kidnapped, 1986. A politician running for any type of office would not want information leaked that could hurt their chances of being elected. Per the article Larry Buckallew was later indicted on gun charges. Why won't a former Law Enforcement officer speak with Christopher's detectives...a baby is missing?

"Later, while working for a railroad here, Corsentino became acquainted with Pueblo police Detective Larry Buckallew.

“Larry saw I had some political expertise,” Corsentino recalled. “He wanted to become sheriff of Pueblo County. I considered that a lofty goal. Not because of his intelligence level, he had a master’s degree and other credentials, but as far as his personality was concerned, I wasn’t sure how he would play on the political scene.

“We had many discussions, we started to survey the field and we started seeing how candidates would line up. Rod Cozetto of the DA’s office was the hands-down favorite for the job. There were nine Democrats seeking that seat, and no Republicans.”

Corsentino’s advice to Buckallew was to switch parties.

“There was not enough votes (for the 1986 Democratic primary) to go around, and he would have a difficult time overcoming Cozetto, because he was a traditional Democrat. It wasn’t ideological at all. We just wanted to win the election.”

Buckallew accepted that advice, making a move to the Republicans before November 1985.

“I ran his campaign as a Democrat. When he was sworn in (in early 1987), I decided it was in my best interest, over the long term, to become a Republican,” Corsentino"said.

Thank you Roselvr. I am so sorry about your father. My mom's DNA was sent off a few weeks ago. Your support means more than you know.

How is your mom holding up? Have doctors given you an idea of how much time she has? My heart goes out to you because I know how it feels to watch their health decline. Hugs

Christopher's family are asking for cards to be sent to his mom. I can say that my dad got a lot of joy from reading cards that his friends had sent especially since he had been retired from work a few years where most of the friends were from. I used to hang a ribbon on his hospital room wall, hung the cards from them. He had so many it took up 2 large walls.

Thank you to all of you have have taken the time to send Christopher's mother a card. She reads each and every one of them and they lift her spirits. She knows when her journey in life is over, there are many supporters who will still continue to ensure Christopher is not forgotten and the pursuit for answers and justice for her son will carry on.

We know Christopher's kidnapper is not capable of bringing the truth to light. We know his kidnapper reads all of these posts....One day all of the evil you are capable of will be exposed. You will have to answer to God as he sees all things.

In May, 73-year-old Bernice Abeyta was given less than eight months to live, dying from a rare form of cancer, ABC News reports. Before that happens, she says she wants closure on the baby who disappeared from his crib 30 years ago in Colorado. Abeyta says searching for her son Christopher, who was 7 months old the last time his family saw him in 1986, is "what kept me going." She tells CBS Denver that losing Christopher was "like I lost my future." Her daughter, Denise Alves, says her mother's "greatest fear" is dying without knowing what happened to her baby. "It changed her forever," Alves tells ABC. Abeyta tells Fox 21 that she still pictures daily what it would be like to see Christopher again.

Last night I caught the article below, they finally named EB a person of interest while Bernice is still here to see it. My heart breaks for her. It's so tragic that her son was taken, his file etc lost, and if that isn't enough heart break, terminal cancer on top of it.

Mom’s dying wish is to find her son who went missing 30 years ago - Posted 5:46 pm, October 7, 2016, by Macradee Aegerter, Updated at 06:01pm, October 7, 2016
Colorado Springs Police say they now have a person of interest in the case.

It's someone that family members have suspected for years.

Abeyta and her six other kids are now trying to get a grand jury investigation open to finally bring closure to the case.

I hope there is a miracle before she passes and she's able to meet Christopher. Praying that her children will be able to find him if the miracle doesn't happen. I feel the DNA databases offer them the most hope because EB most likely won't say what she did with him. She either gave him to someone to raise or sold him as an illegal adoption.

Since late 2012, I've helped Cathy T who is the mother of missing Aundria Bowman. Aundria Bowman has been missing from her adopted parents home since March 11, 1989. Cathy and I went to a lot of adoption related FB groups and blogs, we learned a huge lesson there that a lot of adoptees did not have the white picket fence with adoptive parents that cherished them. Instead, a lot were abused or despised because the adoptive parent had not had counseling to help them deal with their fertility issues. Each time they looked at the adopted child, they were reminded of their failure to be able to conceive, thus they never bonded with the child. We met one who's adoptive mother passed from a brain aneurysm when he was one, the adoptive father blamed him for her death. There were others that ended up in foster care until they aged out. It's possible Christopher ended up in foster care too. I'm not saying that all adoptions turned out bad, I know adoptees that had loving adoptive parents; it just seems that a large majority of them had a bad experience.

If Christopher is like most kids who were adopted or raised by parents he doesn't resemble, he very well could be curious who his family is and put his DNA in one of the family tree databases. There's a show called Who Do You Think You Are that he could have seen or the new show by Ancestry called Long Lost Family.

We recently did our DNA with Ancestry. I watch both of the shows I mentioned, seems like every time I watch TV there is another commercial about doing your DNA with Ancestry. A woman in her 60's matched to my son's DNA (my son is 2 months older then Christopher), she was never told who her father was. When her mother got pregnant, the parents wanted her to give the baby up for adoption, she left, never speaking to them again. Doing DNA with Ancestry, 23 and me and Family Tree has been their best option to find out their heritage and family name. I hope Christopher would want to do it too, so am hoping Bernice gets a match. I'm in the process of finding a DNA adoption angel to help when they're ready. They can then upload to the free databases in case Christopher has done that too. You just never know with how so many adoptees have been taking to Facebook to try to get answers

I'm glad they're taking cards. My dad loved getting cards when he had cancer. I used to hang a ribbon on the hospital wall when he was admitted, he loved seeing all the cards hanging. I bought a card when I posted above, I know what I want to say but am trying to figure out how to write it.
