Texting a child may be ok for half an hour or so, but after that, you best get your buns out the door and looking for your (missing) child.

Especially if u think he may have gone fishing by himself. I would be worried about prey or a fall instantly. He didn't know Dylan very well to predict.

OK, I just want to understand.

Mark is asked to give an interview with a number of LE agencies.
What can Mark do?
(a) Decline - suspicious, and so he's probably guilty
(b) Says yes but only with attorney present - suspicious and so he's probably guilty
(c) Says yes and declines right of having attorney present - also evidence of guilt because doing anything else would be evidence of guilt

I'm not picking on you, but it seems that no matter how MR could have responded, people would have interpreted his actions as indicative of guilt.

And frankly MR does not strike me as the type to be able to outsmart a large number of LE officials at an interview.

I don't think, personally, that b and c would make him look guilty. I think they would be responsible decisions on his part. Having an attorney does not make someone guilty, imo.

None of those things you posted above are the things that make me think dad MIGHT be involved in this.

Paul - you could be right -- though I don't think that he had many options in terms of the interview (meaning it wasn't really a _choice_). As to lack of an attorney, I could think of many reasons why he might have thought it was a good idea - not in my book, but his.

I agree, and certainly guilty people have spoken to LE without an attorney before. It's just that when they do, they tend to have handcuffs on their hands once they are done.

This wasn't just local LE interviewing him, this was the FBI and the state police.

I would have wanted an attorney present.

I just returned the niece and did some Christmas shopping so I'm behind. Any news on the search?

They've found a bunch of stuff but it's not clear currently whether anything is connected to DR's disappearance or whether it's just trash.

(1) He had an appointment with the lawyer, this was discussed a few pages ago.
(2) Other errands.
(3) He was concerned, he went to Bayfield to see if he had gone to his friend's place. Why do you think he wasn't concerned?

He didnt report his son missing till that evening!
He didnt go looking for him till that evening.
We have here a 13 yr old you become concerned when you come home and hes not there and you have no note, no call, no text. Nothing!
His things are GONE!
Hello!
to me that = not concerned

Darn, the quote from the paper isnt showing. Wanted to comment on the part that said Mark was texting Dylan all afternoon.

Now, lets remember what Elaine said. Dylan was tech savvy. We have not ever heard her say that she's had a hard time in the past not being able to get ahold of Dylan via text or even cell.

Here we have Mark saying he texted Dylan all afternoon unable to get a hold of him. He surely knew (from the September visit) how attached Dylan was to his phone.

So to me, if he tried to text Dylan even twice with no response (remember we have been told texts go through moreso than phones when coverage is spotty, for some odd reason) - he should have been suspicious that something was wrong right then and there.

If he was sure Dylan was with his friends, why didn't he try to text or call his friends? If he didn't have any of Dylan's friend's cells or text info, why? If he didn't, this doesn't impress me either - a good parent should always know the number of their friend(s), in the event the cell dies, they can still get a hold of the friend and confirm you are okay.

Mark has said in interviews he knows how important Dylan's friends are to him. So why would he not have their contact info?

So all these factors combined, he should have been concerned with lack of response from Dylan A LOT SOONER than 4-5 hours. I can see one or two texts maybe not getting through to Dylan. But 4-5 hours worth of no replies from Dylan? No!

EXACTLY. He sat home and texted his missing son a few times. Then finally at around 4 o clock he went out looking for him. AFTER 5 HOURS of not knowing where he was or if he was safe or not.

And what did he do in that 5 hours alone at home? He didn't mention anything about doing any type of yardwork. We know he didn't tidy up around the house because Dylan's blanket and clothes were still laying around when the reporters showed up days later.

Very few guilty people do..at first. They usually wait until they are at "the end of the hallway" before lawyering up IMO.

What type of clothes were on the couch? Is there a photo of this interview somewhere?

Guys, the Scanner thread is hopping and our members are posting up-to-the-minute on it. They are doing a great job!

If any of you are interested in following, click here to link the thread.

REMINDER: All scanner chatter needs to stay downstairs UNTIL anything is confirmed to be relevant to DYLAN'S case. There have been several items found but there is absolutely no confirmation that any of them are directly related to Dylan. Once we hear they could be relevant, then those things can be discussed upstairs in this thread as well. Patience, patience, patience. ;)

If you have any questions, please ask BEFORE posting the info in this thread.

:tyou:

Thanks for responding to my post.

And attorney's require a retainer. Haven't seen any of the high profile Orlando ones jumping in here and offering their help for free.

OT:I am jealous that you actually did some of your shopping. I was in the mall yesterday, and ended up doing ONE tiny errand and turning around and going home. LOL It was too overwhelming, too crowded and too darn Chrsitmassy for me at the time.

Did you get that from a tweet? Is there a link? Can you post it? Thanks - can't find anything. :/

You can go to the scanner thread, they've posted a list of everything that was found and was reported over the air. We can't post the list here.

He has an attorney though, his divorce attorney. He just saw him the Monday that Dylan disappeared.
