I'm just listening to the interview with dad and he said that there was a bus near his house and Dylan would take the bus to his mom's house (when she lived close by) and "that's the way they liked it" ... where Dylan got around on his own ... so Dylan regularly traveled between his parents houses by bus ... and children that don't have bus fare may hitch hike.
Children who have bus fair may hitchhike and save the bus fare for something else. But just because they may not have bus fair, they may not hitch hike, either. The picture I see of Dylan is a kid who mostly did things within the confines of what his parents knew about. I say mostly because there is usually something that a kid will do that their parents won't know about. The coincidence factor is the tough part on this one.

Another MSM about ipod AND the nerf football:

MR told KOAT news that investigators took a pair of Dylan's sweatpants, his Ipod and a Nerf football the two tossed around Sunday night

I believe Dylan was used to fending for himself.

The way his friends described the summer before, they met everday, hung out everyday, had pizza at the same place everday.

I am not even totally convinced that his cell was not working on the Monday morning.

I just think Dylan was used to doing as he pleased, when he pleased, and as ER stated, she would hear from him when he landed, whether that was that night or the next morning.

Thanks for posting that. I looked for it but couldn't find it. ty

There probably are more MSM quotes but I'll post as I find them:

GRACE: OK, so that`s normal. What about the cell phone and the backpack and other belongings?

REDWINE: It was my understanding from his dad that everything Dylan had was in his backpack including his cell phone, his iPod, his iPod charger, his cell phone charger, all of his clothes. So we had to actually make a trip to get some of Dylan`s clothes from where we live in Colorado Springs because it was my understanding there were no clothes at his dad`s house.

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1212/03/ng.01.html

Ok, thanks. This answers my question about whether he would have had a universal charger for both devices then. But, it sounds like mom is saying that everything was gone from the house with his backpack. So, she is referring to what she believes he had in his backpack when he left for his trip.

He mentions the school bus but I thought he then said that there was a bus that he took to his mom's place ... and they liked it that he took the bus rather than having to drive him. I'll listen to it again, but there's a lot to take in.

My first impression is that this seems like a very concerned parent ... not an angry parent that disappeared his son.

I thought he appeared very normal and non sinister in that video also, then I decided that since I have no clue what his off camera behavior is, I needed to not judge it. I have read both ex wives say they feel this man is capable of doing the unthinkable and I have to trust that they know him better than I do.

That being said, I think bad things happen sometimes, and Dylan was probably picked up by the wrong person.

If my memory serves me right, I'm pretty sure there are other articles about the charger. I just have to find them and I'm trying to catch up at the same time.

But did MR even have TeenNick? That is a separate channel that you have to pay extra for. It is not part of Basic Cable.

He never got there, but that doesn't mean that he didn't try.

The police definitely still have leaving the house and getting abducted as a viable scenario. Or he could have been abducted from the house under the second scenario.

"He either left the house and someone abducted him or something happened while he was still at the house. I could not think of a 3rd possibility," said Dan Bender, spokesman from the La Plata County Sheriff's Office.

You're watching the Father while he's controlling the interview, Acording to all the past fighting and hateful words and text that's been exchanged in the past, I'm sure your intake of the Father would be different.

Dylan was up until 4 in the morning before he flew to see his dad ... no wonder he wouldn't wake up in the morning ... he was tired and sleep deprived by then.

Ok, he was up until 4 am, that means he went to bed right? Do you know if he woke up at 6 am and only got two hours of sleep or did he wake up at noon after 8 hours of sleep?
If he woke up at noon, he had 8 hours of sleep, his flight arrived at around 6 pm, so perhaps let's say it took off at 4:30, it's not like he's traveling through a MAJOR airport, you can spit from one side to the other of both Colo Springs airport and Durange, so I don't see him having to get there two hours early to account for security & check in. Give the benefit of the doubt, he got to the airport at around 230.
So you have a child that had about 8 hrs sleep, packed his stuff, left for the airport and 6 - 8 hours after being awake he was exhausted.

REALLY? Again, if he only had an hour or two, even 4 hours of sleep I would maybe buy exhausted.

Do you remember when you were young, party all night, little sleep, up and at 'em in the morning. Younger people have more bounce than us old folks. :floorlaugh:

IIRC...re the bus

on occasion

he would take the bus to school from one parent's house
and take then bus home from school...to the other parent's house

Oops my bad then. I did like this study because of its specific relevance to Dylan's situation.

It's got a lot of helpful information for a lot of these cases. There's another similar study I've found excepts from, but I haven't been able to find a copy of the complete study on the net yet. If I find it I'll post it.

Plus he was excited about seeing his old Friends !!

I think it depends on what service you have. I have it and I just have basic. If he had satellite, it may be different also.

So many unanswered questions sigh......

It's the same document! How funny! The second one you linked is a scanned version of the first and I didn't realize. So yes, I saw the disposal/concealment info, but the whole article is pretty good.

Okay, let me try this one more time lol. The filicide statistics I was referring to in answering the post you quoted a few posts back are not in those documents. They were at the bottom of the post I linked. Very sorry! I didn't realize the post was that confusing!

To avoid further confusion, I'm pasting the filicide statistics here -

Murder of children by their parents is very rare - 250 to 300 cases per year according to the FBI.

Murder of children by their father is even more rare - of those 250 - 300 cases per year, 50% are by the mother, and the other 50% are by the father and all other family members combined.

Rather than give one specific link, I'll just recommend looking up forensic psychiatrist Philip Resnick for anyone seeking more info. He seems to be the leading expert on filicide in the US. The reason I'm not giving a specific link is because you have to poke through his writings to get the info on paternal filicide because it's mostly about maternal filicide. Info on paternal filicide is scattered in bits and pieces. There's just not much on it, because it's so rare.

comparison on numbers - info from NCMEC

Number of children abducted per year -
Family abductions - 200,000 children
Non-family abductions - 58,000 children

I don't think Dylan was afraid to hitchhike. He seems to be a bit of a dare devil. His friends didn't think he would be shy about catching a ride and I believe them. It is a small rural area. Dylan grew up there and it appears he knew quite a few people. He may have felt comfortable hitchiking because he felt like he knew just about everybody.

So, imo, I think this is a possibility.

I think there are 3 or 4 possibilities on the table, that can't be just pushed aside.

Salem
One of his friends also said that they hung out for “weeks on end during the summer,” Wesley said. “We wouldn’t go home forever.” I seriously doubt they didn't go home at night. Teenage boys ARE known to exaggerate a little from time to time. It doesn't mean that it's not a possibility, just to take quotes from friends with the required grain of salt.

And then it's his word versus no one else claiming the nickelodeon channel.

Everytime I read different news articles concerning Dylan and the way the Father emphasizes Dylan Hitchhiking, His friends said it was one time, and they were all togeather.

The Father is attempting to make Dylan seem like a Hitchhiking Professional.

Thanks for posting that. I looked for it but couldn't find it. ty

It's in NG 12/3 -

GRACE: So Elaine, let me get this straight. You`re telling me that it would be unusual for him to go to sleep at the end of the day, if he were spending the night somewhere else, and not say, Good night, I`m going to sleep?

REDWINE: Well, not necessarily going to sleep, but he would let me know where he landed for the night. So like, if he was hanging around with his friends in Bayfield, you know, he would let me know what friend he was sleeping with that night or whatever the case may be.

You know, he often did stay up later, so he didn`t always text me, but he would always generally text me in the morning when he woke up.

Honestly, I would put more weight on what his friends say. He is a teenager and he is going to act and do different things with them than he would around his parents.

Plus, there is a lot of anger, stress, grief.....going on with the parents right now. When I consider what the parents say, I have to consider the circumstances.
