They've all been living there for over a week...would there be evidence still?
Perhaps it was contained in one specific room/area of the home (bedroom, basement, attic)? A room occupants may not even need to enter? This family wants Gannon found. If they were told not to go into a room, they aren’t even going to touch the door knob. IMO MOO
ETA: That is my HOPE...so nothing gets contaminated. MOO

I have a hunch that they are trying to find trace evidence in the living room under the carpet flooring. JMO

Loving stepmom here...this case just makes me so sad. Like the Kyron case, when it's a stepmom who is a possible suspect, it always hurts my heart. (So too do cases where it's a mom who is a suspect.) I love my stepson, I would lay my life for him as quickly as for the child I birthed. I'm not his mom, he has a perfectly good one and I could never replace her, but he is an important part of my world and I just can't imagine doing harm to him. In some ways I've even been more protective of him than the one I birthed because he'd gone through his parents splitting up, and I know what that feels like.

Praying for this sweet boy, and holding out hope that he is returned safe.

I understand, same here.

FWIW, Just asked LEO hubby who knows nothing about this case, why the DA would show up. He said the most likely reason would be because there was something there that was explained to him that he needed to see for himself (because of questions with the scene, etc). Otherwise, he wouldn't go out, he would have people build the case for him.

Authorities at the scene confirmed to KRDO that May had left the house at about 2 p.m. The sheriff's office said, "May being in [the] Stauch home does not change the ongoing efforts in the search for Gannon. Our priority remains bringing Gannon home safely to his parents, and the investigation continues."
