Just wanted to stop in and say thank you to all that helped keep us updated here (and elsewhere, JA trial, etc.), it was much appreciated! :loveyou:

Oh, Maisiebelle - Thank you for finding and posting that. I hope everyone who has been on this board will have the opportunity to read it. It certainly was meant more for the family members and other folks who were directly affected by what we have all witnessed and lived with for the past several months, but I think it will be good for us to experience some light and peace as well, or whatever may bring us comfort from seeing what we have seen in this tragedy.

I'm glad, as I always am, that we have had each other to console, to rally together, to b&tch, to ask & answer, to laugh with, to cry with, and on & on. Maybe we have gained a bit of wisdom -- I always try to come away a little smarter and a bit more thankful for what I have and for what I don't have.

I'll keep checking here with the rest of you all, and I definitely want to hear the good judge assign further sentences. I plan to go back over to the Madyson Middleton case in Santa Cruz, CA. She was (yes, was) 8 years old & went missing on July 27. Her little body was found and her 15-yr-old neighbor was charged with her murder. SMH. Another child dead. Another child arrested. It's still early in the case, so I'm gonna give it a try -- I'm certainly not locked in to it. Livin' in the USA. For some of us, that is. We're a crazy bunch of folks over here, aren't we? Don't be a stranger, as we say here in the South, Maisie. You are one of us, you crazy Brit!

Much love to you all, much sympathy and prayers for those who can't leave this case the way we can.

See y'all soon. xoxoxoxo:loveyou:

Thank you for this link. I will see you over there. I live in CA not too far from this. I think this is a very horrible crime.

God bless this little angel. Gone too soon. :(

That poor child. I can't bear it. I will have a read over the thread. Do you know when the trial will begin or is it still quite far off yet?

Hugs to you Borndem and I've thoroughly enjoyed your company :)

Hi lovely!

Last night was horrible. It seemed like our happy home was invaded. I felt like some of the posters hadn't followed the whole trial and it didn't matter how much we tried to explain points they weren't hearing us.

I'm all for people contributing but it didn't feel like they were here for that. It was just argumentative.

I will probably be quiet for the next couple of weeks. I will be back for the formal sentencing though. If it's not televised I'm sure one of us will tweet and we can discuss what is happening.

After that, who knows! I will hopefully meet up with you and everyone else on another trial. It would be a shame to break up the family! :)

Hi!

and I too thank you Maisiebelle and the others who tweeted and told us what was happening in the court room! :tyou:

It might have gotten a little "testy" last night, but do remember you all asked everyone to join in.... just saying! :)

Well I too wanted the DP, but I can live with LWOP. :jail: he'll be there forever...

See you all back here August 24th! :seeya:

Not what I wanted to hear!!!! = (

Thank you Maisie... Zoey and Everyone who kept us updated the several months of this trial.. it was a long road. I esp thank you for the last few weeks when I couldn't be here live with all of you... it helped so much to come here in the evening and catch up!! Lots of Hugs! *advertiser censored*

Did they know he plead guilty and would have taken lwop? Living in Denver I would think that was common knowledge. It was interesting yesterday to listen to GB...people should know the full story of that plea deal...GB asked for a number of documents and mental eval. etc. and the defense gave him very little and therefore he rejected the plea. He really looked so tormented during the press conf.

I don't think they would have known that. Knowing that type of information should have eliminated them from the jury pool.

Actually I din't even know that myself, until I read it in this thread.

I think the penalty verdicts should be based on the majority of the jury
to be fair. I'm saying this not knowing what the breakdown was for this jury. IMO

Respectfully I strongly disagree. Juries have always been based on unanimous decisions. Executing any person on anything less then a unanimous decision would be a serious human rights violation. We don't let majority opinion decide if someone should live or die.

I am curious. When JA was sent to prison, I remember reading that it is a prison rule that all females had to wear long hair pulled back in a pony tail. No way to hide things.

So in Colorado prison, JH said he did not believe in a God, if I am correct. He has no religion. So can he have a beard in prison or will he have to shave it and keep his hair short.

I should add that his MI episode of eating and licking poop etc. should not let him have a beard for safety!

Just wondering. I am looking on the net but have not found the answer yet.

I doubt it will be a problem for him. Charles Manson has been wearing a beard in prison for over 40 years.

This sounds about right to me. I don't know why it is but many of the Mentally ill inmates convert to Muslim while in jail and prison and write to get free Quran's. My son who is in prison told me this is true. My son who was baptized and is devout Christian said they are constantly trying to get him to convert. He's blonde hair blue eyes no beard. Lol. Just because you are Muslim doesn't make you a terrorist. Most Muslims are peaceful people except the extremist/ radicals. JH would be the extremist kind (scary) talking about infidels. Sounds like ISIS.

I have read that some do it to get better prison food.

Never kept up with 'that guy' so did no know he had a beard. Just wondering.

I have followed this thread for years--and yes I was disappointed initially with the LWOP decision...Am OK with it now if he ends up in GP eventually---Am not necessarily hoping the inmates take it out on him----rather I get a feeling of delight when I think of JH having to exist with al the other inmates. For a guy who hates oTHER PEOPLE and loves solitude, just thinking about JH existing with the noise, smells etc of the GP makes me smile, Talk about hell on earth !!! GP please !!!

End of Aurora theater trial moves civil suits against theater forward

In April, a federal judge set a date for a three-week trial in July 2016 for several civil suits filed by survivors of the shooting and relatives of those killed during the attack. The various lawsuits were merged into one case that includes a total of 41 plaintiffs.

The start of the trial was delayed at the request of the victims' attorneys and the attorneys for the theater's owner. They argued a gag order prohibiting law enforcement from discussing the shooting prevented lawyers from gathering evidence in the case.

That gag order was lifted by Judge Carlos Samour Jr. after the jury's final verdict was read on Friday.

The lawsuit alleges that Cinemark, which owns the Century Aurora 16, should have done more to protect moviegoers at the theater where Holmes killed 12 people and wounded 70 others on July 20, 2012.

A different group of lawsuits filed against the theater in state court is set for trial in May 2016. That trial is also expected to last three weeks.

Chantel Blunk, whose husband, Jonathan Blunk, was killed in the attack, also filed lawsuits in federal court against Dr. Lynne Fenton, a University of Colorado psychiatrist who treated Holmes in the spring of 2012. The suit also names CU.

I do not understand someone who would file a lawsuit against the movie theater. That is ridiculous IMO.

I don't understand this either. Don't know what the movie theater could have done.

I agree. We live in a world that is driven by compensation cases.
