how awful...I grew up in the Denver area & agree she could have been from anywhere or the killer from anywhere, as I-70 is well travelled by people from all over. & also, if they don't know her age yet, well, she could have been hitchhiking, as well as a runaway, etc...lots of truck drivers go through I-70, too. & as someone mentioned, it does cut across the country...truckers, tourists galore, all sorts.

I remember the Ted Bundy connection...& a few other unsolved cases from over the years, ie, bodies being found in the mountains...my friends and I used to hitchhike in the mountains a bit in the late 70s. we must thank our lucky stars that nothing horrible ever happened to us silly girls.

So scary & so sad...I really hope more info comes out soon!!

ah ok 20-35 estimate...thanks mysticrose.

& yes, knowing what the tattoos are would help.

i see also they haven't said how long the body may have been there before discovery...also would be useful.

From link provided by mysticrose:

She said that investigators searched for other remains of the body through the weekend, but none were found. Not all of the remains have been recovered, she said.

So, it may be difficult to get an estimate of possible height and weight. UGH!

Here is a little local reporting nothing really new:

Murder Scene Cleared, Questions Remain
06/15/09 - 04:18 PM

Glenwood Springs, Colo.
A small Western Colorado town is on edge after the discovery of a dismembered body. Investigators are still trying to piece together evidence and clues after the body of a young woman is found in an apple orchard.

A mystery hangs over the corner of Canyon Creek. “It’s a little frightening to think something like this could happen,” says Mila Jensen. Jensen has lived on Canyon Creek for more than 30 years. The road is tucked off the highway and behind an apple orchard. “We’ve always felt very safe and comfortable.”

Nursebeeme, I noticed you posted a link to a slideshow on the Haylee D. thread with pics of the truck. I'm going to post it here since it is very possible these threads may be related.

Can anyone here clean up the pics at all? I'm wondering what is in the back that truck. Specifically, if there are any trash bags. TIA!!

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sou...2891&sspn=38.542121,79.101563&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=8

both towns are RIGHT OFF OF I70 Four hours driving distance down the ole interstate.....

Hi Nurse, I think I luv you! And I am so thankful the US Marshals are involved here, as I just have the utmost respect for them.

In your link it said they are working fast {or SS} to find the child. I wonder if that means they already know the lady in the orchard is the mother and just aren't putting that out there yet, holding back so the perp doesn't know they are closing in.

They could have easily run the DNA of the body and compared it to hers, right?

didn't copy the right article. This one is from KKTV.com

Hopple said the woman had extensive dental work, had multiple tattoos, and had brown hair with blond highlights. the bold is mine

My goodness. It is an unfortunate choice of wording by the person who wrote that artice........'dismembered' and then 'piece together'. I think I would have written something different. Like: 'Investigators are working with the evidence and the clues from the scene to identify this young woman.'

Call me crazy, but those words just jumped at me when I read that first paragraph.

If investigators want help in identifying this woman, then they need to drop a little more information to the public. I understand that LE doesn't want the family of this woman to find out via national media, but what is the alternative? This needs to be on the national news and national media constantly, IMO. Anyone having a missing family member between those ages and with that hair color needs to hear about this.

Mystry called in about Candace' tatoos yesterday. Sarah Jensen has at least 3 tattoos and has blonde hair and is missing from the next state over. She and Candace both fall into the age estimation. And I do hate to be this graphic, but blonde hair might appear to be brown with blonde highlights if there is blood in it. (sorry) I knew someone who had blonde hair that was in an accident with head injuries and her hair appeared to be more brown than blonde at the funeral home. (again, sorry to be graphic)

I know that LE is working hard to determine this woman's identity, but if they want the public's help, they are going to have to let go of a little more information.

Oh wow. Wow wow wow. I pray that poor baby Haylee is ok. If this is turns out to be CW... Oh gosh I'm just terrified for that baby girl :(

I am terrified for little Haylee also. Actually, I do not care what happens to the adults in this situation, but I do care about this small child who has no choice in being dragged around the country with them living who knows how.

The inside of that truck has become her home and she doesn't know why. She doesn't know where they are going or why. I do hope that Potter does not get angry with Haylee needing care.

Candace and Potter know that everyone is looking for them and are probably desperate. Haylee is another mouth to feed and has needs. I think LE and the Marshalls need to make a national plea to them to let Haylee go. A showdown with the Marshall's will not be pretty, but is inevitable unless they give themselves up. I would hate to see this turn into a hostage situation with Haylee being the hostage.

I am so hoping that someone, somewhere, will see them and call LE.

The truck was spotted in Stratton, Colorado on June 2nd! It was caught on tape at a gas station. Off to do some mapping between the orchard and stratton. Should be interesting!
--------------
Noticed that in the article, it stated that the woman in the video was "attempting" to purchase gas. "attempting"?? Does this mean that she was unsuccessful in purchasing the gas, I wonder?:waitasec:

This US Marshall's bulletin should answer that one...

The surveillance footage from Colorado shows a female, believed to be Candace Watson, attempting to purchase fuel at the gas pump. Neither Potter nor Haylee were able to be seen in the footage. The truck is a 1988 two-tone black and green Chevrolet pick-up truck with Ohio plate ENS9729. Enhanced photos of the truck are attached below. The truck has orange lights along the top of the front windshield visor. The truck also has running boards along the sides.

A bit earlier today a poster commented that "rumor" has it that the torso may be missing. Excuse the graphic comment here but LE obviously have the head due to the hair color and dental work comment. They obviously have the parts of the body with the tatoos (I'm thinking arms and maybe legs). Going on the rumor about the torso missing, I thinking that maybe the murderer was trying to get rid of physically identifiable parts (head, arms, legs). He most likely has low IQ and maybe thought that this would give him more time and assumed that the torso would be found first, instead the physical identifiable parts were found first................KWIM?
