What scares me more is even if someone didn't see something, wouldn't someone have reportedly heard something? A car tires squeeling, something? 8:30 am isn't an odd time to leave for school.

Just thinking since this case was reported here, in the am when we are leaving there are two other residents w/o children leaving for work. Two seperate groups of kids waiting for busses. I'm leaving driving my son to school. I'm just thinking of all the people out in the am. Someone would have seen or heard something. Unless, and this scares me, Jessica got into a car without it causing any attention.

Now that we've seen that letter about someone offering candy in the area, I hope those in the immediate area where Jessica would have been walking think back to whether they recall a car of the same description.

Still praying she is found safely soon....

Drugs?:waitasec:

So often with missing young girls, like in the case of Victoria Stafford, as well as the recent disappearance of the Iowa children, the single mom has some connection with drugs. I'm still catching up on the facts of this case.

It sounds like she worked nights and avoided the phone during the day - when she was sleeping. This schedule could be similar to a mother that does drugs and who is not always available to her children. There's usually nothing wrong with not answering the phone during the day ... was there no message?

Police said they don't think she was abducted by an acquaintance or relative. The girls' father lives inn Missouri. They also said they don't think Jessica ran away because she is emotionally stable.

"We're using every resource we have," said Westminster police detective Trevor Materasso. "We were trying to use helicopters that search in the dark. Unfortunately, the weather has grounded those. Our fire department has brought in thermal-imaging equipment that sees in the dark, so we're out searching with that."

She was last seen wearing blue jeans, black boots with pom poms, a black puffy jacket and pink and purple glasses. She also had a black and pink backpack with a Disney character on it.

Westminster police, search dogs, Rampart Search and Rescue, and dozens of neighbors were searching the area for the girl Friday night. There is a large greenbelt to the south of the area she was last seen, which is on the way to school.

Temperatures were expected to dip into the upper 20s overnight, with the possibility of snow.

Looking at maps ... do we know the name of the school?

I am just jumping off your post because it is important to remember that the mother has not been named a suspect and is considered a victim. The police have (linked upstream) said they do not think she is a suspect. Until that changes speculation about family members is a :nono:

general area

witt is the elementary school
meets to walk to school at chelsea park
lives somewhere in the area of 107th ave and moore (iirc)

If she didn't make it to the park, that's a very short distance to disappear in. You can see the entrance to the park off of Moore Street, or at the other end of Moore closer to 107th. You would walk right up to it.

Also from the above link:

Jessica is 4 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 80 pounds. She has blonde, shoulder-length hair with blue eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, black boots with pom poms, a black puffy jacket and pink and purple glasses. She also had a black and pink backpack with a Disney character on it.

I can't shake feeling absolutely heartbroken for Jessica that some perp might have had her for a full 8 hours before the search had even begun. It's just killing me. And some sick was in the free and clear with no worries for eight.long.hours. It really makes me physically nauseous.

Ultimately, I know it was more of a perfect storm of missed communication. I mean, a safety net was already in place to notify a parent that their child didn't show up for school (again, a situation that 99% of time means nothing other than the child is still with the parent). And I know that Mom was probably just a hardworking Mom out cold from a hard night's work, never considering that she was going to end up missing the most important phone call of her life.

Poor Jessica. I pray they find her before dawn. Ugh.

Was it a cell phone or a land line? I can't imagine a school only having a land line as a contact number these days.

I think you misunderstood my post cluciano. I'm simply asking outloud questions as we wait for confirmed facts. If what was posted up thread that the walk to meet the peers was only 450' or so from home that seems like an awfully short distance for someone to abduct a child without anyone else noticing. I assume in addition to children walking to school there may be other children waiting for busses and even people leaving for work in the morning. I'd imagine in any given surban neighborhood there would be a fair amount of usual neighborhood morning traffic so I am wondering how no one seems to have seen anything. No reported sightings, or even reports that perhaps she might have been upset with a friend and chose not to walk with this group this morning?

Lots of questions are often seen by MSM reading here and then sometimes reported on later. The more questions we ask the better chances media knows what people are wondering about!

Still praying Jessica is found safely soon.

I didn't quote your post, and was not pointing to anyone in particular. But so often in these cases, we start getting a rundown from every parent as to what their school does, what their routine is, etc. and I just don't feel it is all that helpful. All situations are different.

Agree. Our school (though it's in Australia) has several contact numbers that are used until a human is reached.

FWIW, this area of "Denver" is not a bad area or neighborhood.

I'm not saying that bad things only happen in bad areas, just that this area of northern Denver is not one that would be considered "the wrong side of the tracks."

I'm going to bed. My stomach is in knots over this. Praying for Jessica and those that love her and all those searching and investigating through the night.
