I've been trying to find the source, but I haven't had any luck so far. I thought it was in a press conference right after she was found, but it may have been a later one. I remember a reporter asking if she had been sexually assaulted, and I THINK he said they couldn't tell yet because of the condition of the body. I'm going to keep looking and will post a link if/when I find it.

What this person did is so cowardly & sneaky. They must be sitting and hiding in their own home, peeking out of their curtains or blinds. Then they have to put on somewhat of normal face with the public to buy food, Home Depot type stuff, whatever.

I'm not going to discount a small group of people either, younger though. Sick minds.

Sorry all I know I'm way behind again and trying to catch up, but random question I haven't seen yet (I may have missed it). I see over and over people talking about the fact that the killer is/was a pedophile, raped/molested/sexually assaulted this poor little girl. What he did to her was undeniably horrible, but has there been anything released to indicate that it was a sex related crime? I don't recall seeing it (and sorry if I missed it), but IMO it really changes the likely possible suspect. Not anyone in particular in mind, but it seems really different to me for someone to be into the "thrill" (YUCK that was hard to type) of abducting and killing someone as opposed to someone into sexual assaults where they had their "fun" (YUCK again) but then had to dispose of the person. Ugh I'm sorry, feeling so sick again from all this as I know many of you are. That question keeps jumping out at me though - was it a sex related crime or something else?

All we really know for a fact is Jessica Ridgeway was found "not intact" in Arvada on October 10, her backpack was found in Superior on October 7, and she disappeared around 8:30 on Friday October 5. Other than that, LE is not saying much, although some of the MSM have used their own words to pad out descriptions in articles. (OK, maybe there is a little more, but not much)

nikb, I wonder the same thing. As far as I have read no one has mentioned a sexual crime. I did read in one of the news paper articles at first the sex could not be determined. I thought a lot about that and think I understand why. :seeya:

The language is subtle but important.

We were told a "predator" is on the loose in the community.

We weren't told a "killer" is on the loose. Or a "monster" or a "sociopath."

Predator has one connotation and one connotation only imo in modern crime parlance. Sexual predator.

Okay so here is a thought! To do that much clean up would require an unusual amount of water, way over and above the average daily consumption for that particular household. I wonder if you can track water on a daily

Thank you for the quick update! So sad. I've gone over so many of the early articles and interviews and could never find anything about the possible motive behind the crime - everything I can think of is just about equally disgusting, I just think the motive might help with finding the killer and hopefully getting justice for Jessica. Not to mention getting one more freak off the streets before he hurts anyone else...

Interesting thought Laura, I hadn't thought about that before. If they're on water meters they should be able to tell daily consumption I think, or at least weekly which could show a spike.

I do have to disagree with that. A Predator is one that preys, destroys or devours (m-w.com). They were talking about someone who is seeking to harm another. Killer isn't broad enough, monster is too nebulous, sociopath is probably accurate, but doesn't instill the fear needed to keep your family under a watchful eye.

Predator says "Someone is out there looking for another person to hurt."

It's the law in MO and several other states, but I can't find a definite answer for CO.

If it is required in Colorado, I suppose it would rule out the RSOs.

I'm re-reading the thread pages as I couldn't watch the service, post and read comments all at the same time.

I'm not sure who was operating the camera that enabled us all to watch the memorial service via the Internet. I'm clueless as to how the live streaming works and who would be in charge of controlling the footage. It was streamed live so no editing occured. Maybe a novice camerman/woman?

Wouldn't the person behind the camera be someone who works for K whatever it is TV, the local news station?

Westminster Police said on their Twitter feed that Channel 9 would serve as the pool camera. That meant they provided the photographers, equipment, live signal, live truck, etc and it's shared with the other stations. The feed was put on a satellite signal so that others could livestream, tape etc.

For example, the presidential debates have a single pool camera hence why all the networks air the same coverage and not from different angles or one station is on Romney while another is on Obama etc.

Not if it was done in a bathtub or deep sink. That wouldn't take anymore water than regular cleaning. Not to be too gross, but one a person is dead, the heart is no longer pumping blood. After a short while, bad things could be done to a body with minimal mess in a confined location. (Niece who works in a forensic lab tells me these things)

You are welcome to go by Webster's. I'm going by my experience in dealing with police. When they say predator, they mean sexual predator.

Woe is gone now, but I'm pretty sure the "K" was for the station call letters like "KGTV" "KTLA". Woe didn't know the actual call letters and wrote "K whatever it is TV, the local news station".

People need to be aware that there is someone out there who doesn't just kill, but more, although they are not saying what the "more" part is.

I know many on this board will agree with me as I write this with all in mind. Many of us have lost children to murder, accidents, and illness. A piece of scum such as the killer lives on, is no doubt healthy of body. It HURTS!!! That is why I say as old as I am I would get the strength to harm him good if I saw him! even if I had to use my knees with a nail belt attached. It just hurts so bad. I maintain and we'll have to agree to disagree that "predator" indicates police think Jessica wasn't just killed in a gruesome horrible manner.
