One of our newest members last night said he believed the suspect had walked away or rode his bike from where the backpack was found and I thought, no way. While watching news clips I noticed a male riding his bike where they found her body and I thought it was strange. Hes shown towards the end of the clip.

((I hurt my back and I have been in bed and on meds)) Maybe its just me.

He looked a little strange to me too once I looked at that, too casual for biking near LE cars. I guess I am used to spectators that stop and observe the events unfolding in front of them as bikers/pedestrians.

I get the impression that the body was mutilated not to prevent identification, but rather for matters of "practicality" such as moving and transporting the body/avoiding detection during transportation. I would imagine he knew that DNA testing could be used to ID the body - he may have removed parts of the body to delay (but not ultimately prevent) the ID process or (more likely in my opinion,) the killer was hoping to retain an ace in the hole that would keep the story in the news and ensure that he remains somewhat informed on the progress of the LE investigation.

This doesn't strike me as someone who would dismember the body for sexual (or some other form) stimulation. I believe the troubling contradiction that many of you have identified is significant...why remove body parts and make a half-baked attempt to hide the body if you want the body to be found? I feel the answer lies in the perp's knowledge of and/or connection to the specific location where the body was found - he felt comfortable there and likely knew what he needed to do in order to avoid detection.

I still believe that the body was likely transported a significant distance by foot - I have a hard time believing the killer merely pulled up on the side of the road. If someone were to see something, there is no where to go if you're in a vehicle - there are plenty of places to escape on foot.

So whoever did this just might live in the neighborhood adjacent to the remains location?

How difficult would it be to move a ten year old child? That's not hard at all unless the killer is puny and fragile. I do not know her weight off hand but I doubt it was 80 pounds.

I believe it was 80 lbs. Keep in mind though that "dead weight" (horrible choice of words but I don't know how else to say it) is much more difficult to maneuver than a regular object. Not to mention kinda large and cumbersome to not be noticed moving it.

I agree with the poster that stated that the perp likely did something to the body to assist him in getting rid of it, and likely to slow ID. Similar to what Micheal Biere did to Holly Jones. I suspect the suspect here will be similar.....30s, employed, decent looking, your "typical" neighbourhood guy on the outside.....prob lives alone.....prob watches a lot of child *advertiser censored*....prob feeling pretty high about the whole thing right now.

Eh...IMO...I think it is a stretch; although, I see why some would see a valid theory too.

Like I said on one of the previous threads...Colorado is a very outdoorsy state w/ lots of bikers/walkers/runners. there are trails everywhere and if no trail, bikers use the roads a lot. To see a biker in an area such as this would never ever raise a flag for me. My neighborhood is surrounded by the exact same terrain as where the body was found. It is surrounded by open space that includes trails (paved and not paved) and lots of animals (from horses to coyotes)....and there are always people biking/walking/running...

Leyden Road was closed for months and reopened only about a week before Jessica disappeared. That the killer chose this spot could indicate a lot of planning, but it's also possible that the killer just got lucky. Heading south on Colorado 93, the killer would have this view of a road passing through a gap in the rocks into darkness.

Disappointing to see some of you drag a person (an RSO, but a person none the less) through the mud based on some armchair detective work. The distinction between naming a name and giving someone's address or "subtly" directing people to this person's profile is a joke. If you have a tip, send it to LE...let them vet your suspicions before associating someone by name with such a horrendous crime.

Hi, I have a link below that provides links to moderator comments about the topic of discussing RSO's.

The owner of the WS (Tricia) and her administrators create our TOS and rules.

It is within the rules to sleuth RSO in missing children cases. Just letting you know :)

Find a local gun range and go "play"....try on many many diff guns and take classes! If not properly trained, it doesnt matter what kind of gun you have! ;) You just need to take classes and practice often and find the right fit for you!

As mentioned above, some dont like the glocks...but I really do and feel comfortable with them as ive shot with them for god knows how long. Everyone has their personal tastes and it just takes some time and "trying on" to find yours! I have to say that the bodyguard is now my preference over the glock!

I agree!!

The bodyguard is a great gun as well. I just moved over to 9mm's over 380s though! Smith&Wesson M&P Shield is the one I like

But for beginners I really love revolvers. Simple, uncomplicated, never fail you.

I'll send ya a PM mck16!! Have to log off for an appointment but I'll get back to you tonight.

Social media was responsible for finding "Jane Doe" who was wanted for unspeakable acts with children, her own I might add...and I'm sure with a few million fb and twitter posts of this sketch, this will be found as well. I love social media!

Sorry for the o/t, but I wanted to thank you for posting the sketch of the WY perp. More apologies that I am about to ask for a repeat on this info, but is there a description of build or approximate height to go with this? It is getting hard to keep track of all these perps. :(

ETA I am really on a roll here. First I miswrote, then did a double post, and now I see that I quoted the wrong post. Sorry for the confusion, but I will take an answer from anyone. : )

It is so disheartening to think the monster destroyed the remains. I can think of 3 reasons why he might have done so:

1) delay Id (JR or his): this may have made sense before advent of DNA but today it only buys you a day or two in identifying the body. Only a young inexperienced killer, I believe, would think this.

On the other hand, perhaps the killer only left parts where there would not be DNA. I don't want to be too graphic but he might have removed all parts of the body where there could be potential DNA evidence. So he hurt the body not to delay her identification but to delay or prevent HIS identification by DNA.

2) ease transport: I saw a show on ID discovery last week where the husband killed the wife and dismembered the body in order to ease hiding. He ended up hiding most of the body in his garage which seems completely stupid, but sometimes these killers do not always think straight. But he initially dismembered the wife's body so he could put it on a sled to move to a field.

Yet the perp here did not leave her in a container, etc so perhaps he transported her in a container that he needed her to fit in OR he was too weak to carry 80 pounds or however much she weighed. Otherwise why commit do such a horrible act and bring even more pain to the family?( I cannot imagine how her parents must fill.)

3) this person is a really sick monster (which is also true if the above 2 are true) that gets pleasure out of doing what he did to the body. The perp could even have kept parts as trophies. If the latter, it would seem like you are dealing w a serial monster. If someone derives enjoyment from that, he will strike again. It is also likely that he may have done this in the past, but perhaps no one found the body to know he did it. Someone does not jump from normal person to sick monster overnight. There would have been something in his past.

I just pray that there is sufficient DNA to be able to catch this person. And soon! He probably is not in Codis or else they would have gotten a match by now, you could take it 1) they have DNA and there is not yet a match); or 2) they do not have DNA. I hope it is the case that the perp did not do number 1 above and prevent DNA from being found.

Thank you Footwarrior!

That's good info to know.

Off topic: but seeing your pics makes me realize just how beautiful that part of the country is...we have possiblity of living in CO in the future. It looks like just my kind of place. Beautiful.

Here's the thing, it makes it different if she was put in a trashbag and put in the culvert, than just placed where she was found. Putting her where she was found would be blatantly like, "here she is, find her". Putting her in the culvert reminds me of Matthew Hoffman and he was into the woods, cutting trees, had leaves on his walls, deranged. Voices talked to him, he started out as just an arsonist, did get caught and in prison for awhile. Then went back home. He kept killing squirrels, went from animals to what he did.

This is also where people go bow shooting, hiking, etc, and we don't know if the person dropped her off with a car or walked her to there from those hills. This could have been where he brought her in the first place, but we won't find out more till later. MH's mother lived in the Herrmann's neighborhood and he used to. He had a relationship that had just went bad, tried to choke his girlfriend. I'm not saying this person is like that, but I feel he knows this place he left her.

Case review for Leiby Kletzky. Closest case we have to Jessica (random stranger abduction of a child with dismemberment).

I don't care what reason there was to dismember a little girl's body. For DNA purposes, for ID purposes, for morbid purposes, for moving purposes... it makes you a sick **** if you can ever do something like that. The thought of doing something like that is sickening. The capability of actually doing it is even worse. It would haunt normal people forever. So to me, it doesn't matter the purpose. It was done, and he needs to rot forever in prison and be put to death because of it.

I'm pages behind. Any new developments?

TIA

watched again...i can see why the biker seems out of place....
maybe they are a volunteer....based on the reporting and the location, it is not the location where her body was body....plus the short shot is taken out of context so...who knows *shrug*
